Adele. - 21
I've just got back from Holland - they're crazy about Adele over there - she's all over the radio and every bar or coffee shop you go into, you're almost guaranteed to hear something off '21'. Finally - an artist selling bucketloads who's actually worthy - no hype, silly stunts, ridiculous 'look-at-me' costumes... just honest, down to earth talent. It's been waaaay too long. Hallelujah!

Meh?! Dandy, that's GORGEOUS! Ryan - number 2 I think - my view is, the only time a cover works minus any text is when it's an iconic artist, lovely as always though. Mart!n - I agree, should def be at least top 5 with yours this week.... :)

Jessie who? ;) Ah, the Siobhan Fahey wannabe? Nah - she inspires me about as much as a slice of white bread would :P Thanks, Sean - and another lovely cover from you this week. About time you had a winner in this competition methinks?!

What are your most annoying TV commercials?
Go Compare the double glazing "You buy one, you get one free" ad with the baldy mullet man -INSTANT channel switch "We Buy Any Car" (dot com)... UGHHH!!!!! DFS - why do they always choose a selection of sofas I wouldn't even set fire to nevermind sit on.

Ladytron - The Best of 00-10
That 2009 performance is good, you're right - I've seen the band live three times over the years, and I have to be honest, each time, they were beyond terrible.... I kept going in the vain hope they'd finally manage to cut it live..... but I never witnessed it - the main problem being the dire vocals and complete lack of any presence or connection with their audience.

Dusty Springfield
There's an excellent article on her in this month's Mojo magazine, documenting the recording of Dusty in Memphis - very interesting and revealing..... RIP - one of the world's greatest ever singers - has anyone seen her last TV appearance? On Jools Holland - with Alison Moyet and Sinead O'Connor on backing vocals - quite a line-up......

Ladytron - The Best of 00-10
I think his output this last year has been pretty excellent - including some full-on remixes..... and Ladytron have always bee the under-achievers in the 'electro' category, which is something I'm baffled about. I'd say any support they can get is crucial to tem. OK, they're absolutely toe-curlingly appalling live (one of the worst live bands I've ever seen, I'd say), but their recorded output is never less than superb.

Ladytron - The Best of 00-10
I agree that Ladytron were under-marketed, especially over the last 2 albums. But I disagree that Tiesto is 'poor' - yes, his 'cheesy trancey' vocal-led output in the 2000s was abysmal - but his music prior to that, and the recent stuff - a completely different kettle of fish..... nothing at all like his commercial stuff. Plus he's a name that will prick up the ears of the DJs and the clubbers, which for a band like Ladytron is vital.

agreed - the goalposts seem to shift week by week depending on if a 'friend' is late etc..... deadlines are deadlines - if missed, tough, really..... I've had 40 points lopped off my scores due to not voting over 2 weekends when I've been on holidays - so... rules have to be stuck to. I think if someone is late, regardless of how many covers we have, then they've missed the boat, end of. A whole week's quite bit of time to give people chance to prepare something.....

LEAST Favourite of 2006s best selling singles
Both Pink and Shakira are equally rancid.... voted Shakira this time.

LEAST Favourite of 2006s best selling singles
Pink - a toe-curlingly abysmal single - much like the rest of her dire output.

Shakira - vile.

The Official Chart Show on Radio One - Who do you prefer?
Greg James - I despise Scott Mills - he's a nasty waspy queen with the musical knowledge of a gnat.

Hurts - Sunday
Fully agree - Sunday is... hmm... just ok... one of the weaker tracks on a superb album.... Illuminated is the obvious, blow-them-all-away standout on 'Happiness', no doubt.

Radiohead - The King of Limbs [8th Album]
Lotus Flower is beautiful but I'm holding off on the album...... what saddens me is Radiohead seem to be suffering from the 'R.E.M. disease' - whereby each album cover design is uglier than the last - the artwork for King of Limbs is ghastly..... :(

Mica Paris did a lovely cover of 'One' in the 90s...... much better than the Mary J one....

LEAST Favourite of 2006s best selling singles
'Monster' was one of the singles of 2006?!? BRILLIANT pop single. Of course, on this site, where unless it's camp, female and suburban-gay-disco poppy it's out, it'll be off the list soon. How can you even think of voting for that when there's still bile like Shakira, The Kooks and Girls Aloud on the list?

Shameless USA;
What narks me is that, while we struggle with American accents, lingo and slang, in virtually every US import here, the Americans refuse to even consider listening to a 'foreign' accent and simply remake classics to suit them. How come they seem unable to understand the English language when spoken by English people. :(  I despise American remakes.... they're always diluted, sanitised, staged and, frankly, embarrassing. Shameless was, is and always will be a solely British institution, and should never, ever have been allowed to be cashed-in on for tatty remakes for foreign viewers.

Revised Poll : #1? Lady Gaga v Jessie J v Adele
After her breathtaking performance at the Brits where she, hands down, stole the show, I'd really love Adele to be number one. 'Someone Like You' is a modern classic - a record that, 20 years from now, people will still play. '21' is phenomenal - and this and 'Set Fire To The Rain' are the huge standouts... so, much as I like GaGa, I'd love Adele to snatch it.

Shakira all the way - she sounds lik she's gargling phlegm on Hips Don't Lie.
