  1. In reality, the only great records SAW made were for Bananarama, Divine and Dead or Alive. The rest of the motley crew mentioned here..... ugh. Bargain bin fodder.

And leww.... You're making yourself sound like a design slag. Play the field.... it's fun ;-) I'm 50/50 on whether by looking at a cover, you know who the designer is. It's nice to have your own distinctive design style, bit I love seeing our BJ designers pushing the boat out and going a bit leftfield on us. I think the best designs are the ones that represent the act. You couldn't have a pink and fluffy cover for a death metal act, for example. and I don't see any problem whatsoever in choosing a google image if that google image is relevant and fits the act. Anyway, let's face it, we have some stupidly talented people entering every week. Whether what they do appeals to all is irrelevant. Most of the finest artists were misunderstood in their day. Perhaps the best and lasting art is the art people don't understand right now? Waffle over... Now get voting folks x

God yea, of course! And by the way, your cover this week is orgasmic. So there ;-)

And also, to put up someone else's cover against Ryan's and then question whether they're 'serious' about scoring Ryan lower... sorry, but that's just downright insulting to the other designer. As I said, nobody is immune from poor votes in this contest. And to just religiously give top marks again and again to the same designers, whoever that designer may be, is unfair and a bit ridiculous. There's been covers entered the past three weeks that I've been aghast at the high voting for. But it's rude and insulting to bring this up because it's belittling that person's efforts, and this is supposed to be a 'just for fun' contest, not a bitch fest. And also.... not a 'love-in' for your mates and their mates.

Taste IS subjective, true. I always vote for the cover that represents the chosen artist and grabs me. There's loads of truly excellent designers on BJ and some truly superb entries this week. Jake, we don't all belong in the same fan club.... sometimes Ryan hits the spot, sometimes he doesn't. Same as everyone who enters this contest. Nobody should ever be guaranteed votes just because they're your mate regardless of their work.

  7. it is kind of.... it's topless/naked burlesque girls  :teresa:
  8. Undecided on which one... whatever one gets most interest, I'll go with as I'm off to London shortly..... http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/blissfulignorance_2008/vcmgb.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/blissfulignorance_2008/vcmga.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/blissfulignorance_2008/vcmgc.jpg
  9. The lead singer Lee was a very good friend of mine.... we grew up 10 minutes from each other...... it's such a shame the band's album never saw the light of day - it was truly excellent, stellar pop all the way. This single was ok (and surely had one of THE best TOTP appearances of the whole decade), but it was 'Hear me Calling', their debut (and the fantastic remixes) I'll always return to.
  10. Beautiful cover image. But I can't understand why she's releasing Blue Jeans. I thought it was a double A side with Video Games anyway? Plus, it's one of my least favourites on the album.
  11. Wow wow wow. Stunning! Thanks for the votes, to those that did. Great to see more votes last week too, always good to see people taking part, designing and voting.
  12. .... the stuff I've heard so far sounds like rancid Jessie J album tracks..... Primadonna is just beyond terrible - it's just...another pop song that sounds like every other pop song around at the moment. What the hell's gone wrong for MATD?

  14. crikey - that's VERY low.... especially considering that, even though it's her, it's a seriously great album.....

  16. Looking forward to this.... it's the first collaboration between Erasure/Yazoo member Vince Clarke and his ex Depeche Mode bandmate Martin Gore in over 30 years..... and the singles from it so far have been pretty damn excellent......
  17. Jonny - 2nd one I think ;) Crotch ( :o ;) ) ... 2nd one too.
  18. I think both him and his ghastly sister are completely and utterly loathesome.... and this whole pledging malarkey is just a bit desperate, let's be honest. Yes, he must have made a fair few bob from his couple of hits (I fail and refuse to remember a single one of them...really I do, so please no reminders)..... hmm... saying that, though, I'd imagine he blew it all on pies, bless his chubby little cheeks.

Definitely his mother - I think she overheard the rape admission and just got handy with that whiskey bottle. Why oh why have they brought Sean back? I was kind of hoping some gigantic crocodile would wolf him up in I'm a Celebrity or they'd just keep him locked up in solitary confinement in Oz for crimes against gayness... but no, he's back and camper and more ghastly than ever. He's only still in the soap because his best mate writes the thing these days. Ugh, I'm a gay man, and he makes even me homophobic. And I wish someone would lend Eileen that whiskey bottle - apart from a rare moment of lucidity when she screamed blue murder at Sean, I think the dementia storyline really has run its course. So it's either a miraculous recovery for her or imminent death because guys, this story just aint working.
  20. not touchy... I think you're one of the best entrants we have in this game (as I said last week - your winning cover was, IMO, the best winner we've had in months - and that's a hefty statement considering the quality we have in this game), but we all have off weeks.... and we all create covers that just don't click at times.... me more than most ;)
  21. The only 1 you got was off me. You say it as if you're gobsmacked abyone could dare to not give you high marks? I don't think anyone is above getting low marks. That's just the way it goes in this game. The burning issue here has to be..... No top three for Jonny? Whaaat?!
  22. Agreed..... I actually prefer it to Kick Inside, and it's definitely a better album than Red Shoes or Director's Cut. Talking of which...... here's my KB album rate..... Kick Inside - 6 Lionheart - 8 Never For Ever - 8 The Dreaming - 10 Hounds of Love - 10 The Sensual World - 8 Red Shoes - 5 Aerial - 8 Director's Cut - 3 50 Words For Snow - 8

  24. I like Hot Chip a lot (TERRIBLE live though), but I have to say, I don't think they've ever released anything as utterly fabulous as the (spin off project) 2 Bears album.... which is one of the finest dance albums of the past decade.
