Only two singles were released, but the title track remains one of his best, and although it originally peaked at a disgracefully low #24 in the UK Singles Chart, this was later amended earlier this year following Bowie's death, where it re-peaked at #12. HIGHLIGHT TRACK: Heroes #3: Hunky Dory {1971} Votes: 1 Percentage: 11.11% (0 votes to eliminate in previous round) In third we have Bowie's fourth album, Hunky Dory, which originally failed to chart upon release but made it into the charts following the release of its successor and is hailed as one of the best albums of all time. It also houses two of his most well-known tracks HIGHLIGHT TRACK: Life On Mars? #2: The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars {1972} Votes: 3 Percentage: 33.33% Taking the silver medal is my personal favourite, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, which was released on June 16th 1972, which is my birthday. Only I wasn't born in 1972. Anyway, it spawned three singles, released two years apart from each other. Ziggy Stardust was never a single, but entered the UK chart at #76 in January 2016 following Bowie's death. Released in 1973, it was his first number one album, but his last "original" album to involve Mick Ronson until Black Tie White Noise. Its cover includes the famous lightning bolt sign. A somewhat surprising choice for a single that, unsurprisingly, didn’t make much of a mark on the UK charts . It was deemed unfit for release elsewhere and most markets had Look Back In Anger or Yassassin instead. DJ has Bowie affecting a vocal style inspired by David Byrne of Talking Heads, with whom Eno had begun working and David himself had befriended. It's a rather unusual song, but it's much better than Look Back In Anger and I'm glad it was released as a single here over that. The line "I am a DJ. I am what I play" is probably the most memorable part of the song though.

It was hailed as his best since the 1970s, and obviously with his passing it has been a very touching record. Another album whose lack of songs is made up for with a 10 minute long song as the title track.
