  1. if tik tok is good for one thing it's shooting not one but two afrobeats songs in the top 40! a shame that it had to be the f***ing Bieber remix for essence but hey we'll take what we can get. we can pretend that Wizkid, tems, and bieber are in a throuple, for whatever reason
  2. dhwicked posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
    no peppa pig collab πŸ˜ͺ

  4. ouch lmao, it's my own fault for falling asleep before sending my votes congrats bre tho!!! loved your entry ofc
  5. I'm reading through the results rn, I'd just like to file a grievance bc this face-off is a hate crime against both parties
  6. sending hype over to adonia! sounds like proto-rina sawayama, not even bc of Rina's Japanese roots lol, it just sounds like current re-interpretations of y2k r&b except it was actually released around y2k, which shocked me
  7. it's the lucid dream edition :o perhaps if everyone popped an ambien at the same time the results will be beamed to us via collective hallucination/fever dream
  8. hell yes ! #giveguitarsachance doing a listen through now, will try to squeeze in a second one before the deadline
  9. from what I’ve seen deafheaven are a contentious band among black metal purists bc of their roots in shoegaze…. I’m not really into black metal but I got into them bc to me they were always just heavier shoegaze so the new stuff will def appeal to me! that’s all I’ll say lol
  10. had a look at your past couple personal charts to see if there are any clues there ... all I'll say is I all alone beweep my outcast state, and trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries ....
  11. yesssss bre come join the dark side
  12. reminder that popular music in its current form has only been around for 60 odd years, and this expectation that everyone who emerged as icons from the first two or three decades will be venerated until whenever the apocalypse happens is naive also a couple broken chart records won’t hurt them, like I think the MJ and Whitney estates are doing fine lol. like Paul McCartney is still doing pretty well for himself i believe
  13. ok, but if you live in the US and talk to anyone under the age of 40, you would understand that drake has a large fanbase and literally no one is listening to his album "out of curiosity"! people listen to his stuff aggressively. weird boomer-y statement to make from someone I always thought of as open-minded also...I don't need to say why "being able to buy physical product from every artist I support is inherently more noble than getting it for free" is a somewhat classist and dated way of thinking
  14. as much as I think the chart is a mess, I think we're too far gone in the streaming era to ever go back to a singles-only chart. it worked in the '90s when record labels could drop a random cd single and people would buy it in droves, not so much now when record labels take cues from whatever song is getting the most streams on an album to release as a single I would support some sort of fudging with the ratio but at the end of the day it's all just arbitrary tweaking edit: did some thinking and I think it would be a good idea to take the number of streams of least-streamed track on an album during a given week, subtract it from the streams of all the other tracks, and have those streams count for the album chart, and the leftover streams would count for the hot 100. that way you're getting a uniform # of streams for the album, and the leftover streams would reflect the popularity of the tracks themselves example: Track 1 - 5000 Track 2 (the single) - 10000 Track 3 (short interlude people only play when they listen to the album) - 2000 Track 4 - 6000 Track 5 - 8000 subtract 2000 streams from all tracks, have them count for the album chart, and you're left with 3000, 8000, 0, 4000, and 6000 streams respectively for the songs chart, which accurately reflects the popularity of the songs outside the album I know the OCC does something similar and it makes sense! idg why billboard don't just do the same thing

  20. haven't played w y'all in a while but I just did among us sesh with some friends that was basically a hide and seek game! we knew who the impostor was and we set impostor vision to the lowest setting and basically we just had to run and hide from them until they killed us all lmao. just an idea if anyone wants to try it!
  21. I'm trying to get mine in in the next couple hours, sorry for the delay ! edit: votes sent
  22. I already know my +12 (it's the one I listened to constantly when my work husband and and I broke up)
