  1. Another example of an Album track that was an absolute classic that wasn't released as a Single when the Album came out ("There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths) in 1986. It was subsequently released 6 years later after The Smiths split up. The song has been covered by numerous Artists including (rather bizarrely) Miley Cyrus on a recent Tour.
  2. "The Masterplan" by Oasis was a B-Side as well before it appeared on an Album (One of the B-sides on "Wonderwall"). They really gave value for money in those days!

Clearly a foregone conclusion this week (and the next few weeks) so not going to be too much discussion but shout out to danG on his prediction for last week, close though.
  4. "World Exclusive" Performance of "Supermarket Flowers", a bit of a surprise!
  5. Ed performing twice on "The One Show", first up "Castle On The Hill", an acoustic version...
  6. I have seen short term boosts in the past, may be not significant but anyway Ed is on "The One Show" as well in an hour or so, I will be surprised if he doesn't regain the lead by the end of the day (with whatever he performs).
  7. and Coldplay ! May be not for long though...I am sure Ed/Stormzy will get a significant boost after the Chart Show!
  8. Looks like The Chainsmokers & Coldplay will sneak to the top on iTunes for a short time before the Ed takeover!
  9. For me Lorde's David Bowie Tribute at the Brits last year was flawless and gave her more credibility than I think she previously had. Hope "Green Light" smashes, she was described as "the future of music" afterall!
  10. Ed seems to be hyping up "Perfect" as the monster song from the Album, wonder whether he may perform that and propel it to number 1.
  11. "Green Light" for go, new single from Lorde, available from tomorrow at some point. Interested to see how it does, she definitely couldn't have chosen a more competitive first week.
  12. Over 40 and still purchase physical albums but I am one of those (some might say sad) cases that whilst I still need the physical album I purchase via Amazon and listen to the auto-rip download. Sometimes I don't even un-wrap the CD these days but need the physical copy as I have collected all the other Albums for that Artist over the years. Pay for Spotify for my 2 Daughters though.
  13. It has been bugging me what other Artist "Mixed Signals" sounds like, definitely not Bon Jovi but it could pass as Eighties soft rock. The Guardian described it as "cartoon Bruce Springsteen" and other reviews referred to it as "a Killers cast-off". For me it is definitely the best track on the Album but that's possibly because Eighties is my era!
  14. Last Album "JHUD" at 85 as well, she will be looking to improve on the peak position overall for that one of 116...
  15. Also boost from his appearance on The Graham Norton Show last night. Rag 'N' Bone Man also appeared on BBC last night (The One Show) refreshingly performing "Skin".
  16. Wrong Thread? EP seems to be number 3 in the Albums best sellers.

Unsurprisingly Stormzy has made it to the Top position on iTunes - also up to 4 on Amazon Best Sellers! Rag 'N' Bone Man still selling well and will provide the main competition to Stormzy this week.

Up to 25 now for Blackstar, thoroughly deserving winner!
  19. Assume the download sales for these tracks will count for this week's chart (ie it's not too late)?
  20. Is it nice there?

Seven tracks on the Album but the first song is a sprawling 21 minutes long, does sound more like a Soundtrack than a regular Album. The Ballad of Jimmy McCabe’ is the song with Paul "in more familiar territory". I would have thought there is still enough for Paul Weller fans to secure a Top 10 placing.

There is a "British Breakthrough Act" Award tomorrow night at the Brits for which Stormzy is nominated, given the Release date of the Album wouldn't be surprised if he wins (he has competition from Anne-Marie, Blossoms, Rag 'N' Bone Man & Skepta).

They are in the middle of a mini Tour in the UK this week!
  24. Apparently release was brought forward "due to a leak", it is welcome all the same.
  25. She's performing it on "The One Show" in about 15 minutes
