  1. New music from London Grammar, how exciting. "Rooting For You" all ready up to 48.
  2. Definitely not The Sun, there was a George Michael Tribute night on BBC4 last night!
  3. Thanks for that girlsaloudjunkie, I had overlooked Madonna but she did indeed have a higher percentage than George Michael over first 3 Studio Albums - surprising to see that "Everybody" and "Burning Up" didn't chart but after that it was Top 20 Singles all the way..
  4. Agreed but It would be good to see whether George Michael wins out over the 3 Albums so if anyone has any ideas on that it would be appreciated.
  5. Yes an impressive release schedule from third Album ("Come On Over") but even 2nd Album failed to yield a Single that made the Top 75 in UK (not sure the eight Singles released from the Album were all released in UK). It would have been a bit of a stretch to release 8 Singles from an Album none of which were a Hit in the UK.
  6. Not bad but that is just from their Debut Album I was really looking for an Artist that had sustained more than 50% singles over first 3 Albums.
  7. On playing George Michael's first three Solo UK Studio Albums this morning I noticed a high percentage of (UK) Singles on the Albums (more than 50% overall), Faith 6 out of 11 tracks Listen Without Prejudice 5 out of 10 tracks Older 6 out of 11 tracks (only including 1 track for Double A Single "You Have Been Loved / The Strangest Thing '97" but arguably 7 out of 11 tracks released as Singles). So 17 out of 32 overall (all Top 50 charted Singles). Are there any other Artists out there that have released more than 50% Singles from their first 3 Studio Albums?
  8. "The Adele Story" was on Channel 5 last night, didn't watch it and I guess the viewing figures were low (given it was on Channel 5) but should give "Water Under The Bridge" / "25" a small boost.

Prediction thread doesn't just need mids, it's about more than just that, reacting to the events of the week and how they affect the Singles and Album chart.

As we have no Predictions thread open (why, it's Tuesday) I thought I would mention that some of the best selling Albums are significantly reduced on Amazon (Ball & Boe £4.99, Elvis and Little Mix £5), should stave off George Michael getting to top until the first chart of 2017?

Ladies & Gentlemen up to 3 on Amazon (4 on iTunes) but George Michael/Wham! occupying Top 25 of "Movers and Shakers" chart, he obviously didn't have that many Albums out but several versions of same Album doing well.

Number 1 I'm sure (on iTunes), number 1 overall a possibility as well although a difficult week as traditionally a high sales week.
  14. Unfortunately yes, very sad.
  15. Terrible news, George Michael has passed away (aged 53), expect a few classics to re-enter the Top 100.
  16. Yes agreed, curiously the Article from Music Week from today reported last week's cumulative total. As they are now at 976,206 they will do easily.
  17. Should reach 1 million Sales soon (Maybe not this year though), "Ghost Stories" will be seen as a bit of a blip ie their only Studio Album not to reach 1 million Sales.
  18. Definitely good news!
  19. Also not a fan of the Number 1, rated 5th in the Daily Telegraph worst Christmas number 1's of all time poll, says it all. The video was bizarre as well, Renee was replaced by a model, a cruel decision in my opinion.

Little Mix looking a bit of a longshot for the Christmas Number 1 Album now.
  21. Cool as ****
  22. "I Believe In Father Christmas" is another Christmas classic that peaked originally at number 2 and is an annual favourite (Mariah Carey, The Pogues, Wham! as well)
  23. Your comment made me dig out "The Moulin Rouge" Soundtrack again, some different songs on there ("Your Song" by Ewan McGregor anyone ?). Interesting that "Your Song" was also covered by Ellie Goulding for the 2010 John Lewis Advert!
  24. "Heavy Entertainment Show" by Robbie Williams is scheduled for the 4th November, he will be competing with James Arthur that week...
  25. Robbie Williams is on "The Graham Norton Show" next week (30th Sept), he's surely going to have a Single to promote ? Could be the rumoured Kylie collaboration...
