Fall Out Boy coming for a hat-trick of #2 peaks overall? Last time round in 2015 'American Beauty / American Psycho' opened about same time of year with Sales of 31,497 - think they may need to improve on that to get #1 overall.
  2. I think we can all agree it is a close call between these 2 songs and there is not much to choose in terms of popularity. They even originally peaked in the same #14 position (ignoring fact that Linger took a reissue to get Top 20). I do think they have held up well today, it may be a sign of low download sales but I think it does show how popular The Cranberries (and Dolores O'Riordan in particular) are and this popularity didn't always translate to high chart positions.
  3. I can understand why people are describing 'Zombie' as the iconic hit from The Cranberries but for me 'Linger' was the song that I remember them most for, it was their breakthrough hit, it went Top 10 in the US. I saw them live in 1994 at Shepherd's Bush Empire, Dolores had a unique voice for which both songs show off the uniqueness compared to some of their other more generic songs.

Yes, "Stars: The Best Of The Cranberries 1992 - 2002" now up to #2 (Camila down to #4), wonder whether it can overtake "The Greatest Showman" at some point today.
  5. Cranberries Update (After BBC News featured clips of Linger & Zombie): 14 & 41. Linger 22 & 32. Zombie 23 & 61. Dreams

The Cranberries Takeover: 4. The Cranberries - Stars: The Best Of The Cranberries 1992 - 2002 10. The Cranberries - No Need To Argue 26. The Cranberries - No Need To Argue 31. The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? 46. The Cranberries - Something Else 56. The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? Camila down to #3 now, would imagine The Cranberries will overtake also.
  7. Sad News, Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries has died, R.I.P. Expect we will see 1 or 2 Cranberries songs in the Top 100 (Linger being the most popular ?)

Camila off the top all ready, her Album has been overtaken by The Greatest Showman. Her chances of securing #1 overall will depend on pre-order Sales which didn't appear to be spectacular.

  13. Well Justin does have more of a track record of peaking at #2, five times as a main Artist I think.
  14. Shame that 'Melodrama' just missed out on the Top 100, it was an Album that the critics loved but under-performed somewhat in terms of Sales - just needed a more successful single, 'Green Light' should definitely have done better as well.
  15. Plus Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya were on 'The Graham Norton Show' this week (on NYE) promoting the Film.
  16. Yes, you are right, original estimates had it at #102 but Official Charts confirmed it as #100 in their end of year Sales chart (for 2015).
  17. Many thanks, always one of the highlights of the year for me. So four #1 Albums from 2017 failed to make the Y/E T100 (The Vamps, Queens Of The Stone Age, The National & Shania Twain) - I guess The Vamps was the lowest seller? Lana just held on at #100 at least.
  18. Jools's Annual Hootenanny - assume Ed will get a boost from that as well.

All making decent progress (apart from LCD Soundsystem): 50. Lorde - Melodrama ( 43 places ) 97. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. ( 138 places ) 125. The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding ( 125 places ) 128. St. Vincent - MASSEDUCATION ( 338 places ) 178. LCD Soundsystem - American Dream (down 15 places) 260. The National - Sleep Well Beast ( 60 places ) 302. SZA - Ctrl ( 34 places ) Suspect majority will continue to rise into New Year when there is more appetite for new music.

Noticed 'Greatest Hits II' by Queen has been significantly higher (#56) than 'Greatest Hits' by Queen (#109) this Christmas when for the rest of the year it is the other way round, guess it is a pricing thing.
  21. 1981. 'Don't You Want Me' getting to #1 for Xmas , charts were so much more exciting, new Artists were breaking all the time, it was a transitional time for music, electronic pop was at its peak, it was exciting to buy vinyl, British music ruled, Artists took risks, no remixes to extend chart life of songs, TOTP was watched by everyone.

No others have only spent 1 week Christmas Number One Albums by Week

Could Eminem's Album be the first Christmas #1 Album in history to get only a single week at the top?
  24. Comfortably in my opinion, Album still riding high in run-up to Xmas. Rag 'N' Bone Man has really done with his Promo and it has been advertised a lot on TV - I personally think the Album is quite a middle-of-the-road collection so not surprised it has sold so well.

    8. Tom Chaplin - Twelve Tales Of Christmas Would be nice to see this get a Top 20 peak (overall) this week after it previously peaked at #21. Doubt it but nice boost after his appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show'.
