  1. It's SoundClash! In this event we celebrate the one hit wonders of the 21st century so far. In each round, two songs will go head to head to come out on top, with each credited artist only having a single UK Top 40 hit to their name. In each case, you're voting for your favourite song. The winning songs will then go into a grand collection of one hit wonders to be voted for once the opening rounds are complete. These are the two songs going head to head this round; Hoobastank – The Reason {#12, 2004} 🇺🇸 Hoobastank are an American rock band formed in California in 1994, known for their blend of alternative rock, post-grunge and melodic hard rock. James Vincent McMorrow – Higher Love {#21, 2011} 🇮🇪 James Vincent McMorrow is an Irish singer-songwriter known for his distinctive falsetto vocals and atmospheric blend of indie folk, soul and electronic music. You Decide! Here is what we have had so far in this series of SoundClash; Iglu & Hartly vs. ALMA Vanessa Amorosi vs. Ten Walls Divine Inspiration vs. Kent Jones Newton Faulkner vs. Bridgit Mendler Andreas Johnson vs. Nico & Vinz DB Boulevard vs. Grace Little Jackie vs. Wynter Gordon O-Zone vs. Dynoro & Gigi D'Agostino The Bravery vs. Alex Clare Esmée Denters vs. Secondcity ATC vs. Christine And The Queens Mini Viva vs. Charlie Brown Khia vs. Daisy Dares You Andrew W.K. vs. Karmin Daniel Powter vs. Rachel Platten Little Trees vs. Foster The People Lee Mead vs. Keala Settle Special D vs. Otto Knows Paris Hilton vs. D'Banj Zoë Birkett vs. Hurts Metro Station vs. Vance Joy DJ Pied Piper & The Masters Of Ceremonies vs. OMI Sara Bareilles vs. Alyssa Reid Dana Rayne vs. Mclean Alizée vs. Portugal. 2. Fontaines DC, Temper City and Miley Cyrus are probably my biggest omissions that I'd have like to have seen added. Here's some other thoughts on Now 125; Disc 1 Nice to see first time additions from Ashe, ADÉLA, and Audrey Hobert. I guess Ashe could be a future #1 so would add some value to the compilation for sure. Bruno's single is very old by this point, but it was the case on Now 124 also so not hugely surprising. Charli's singles this era haven't really impacted the charts the same way as her BRAT era so it was less obvious what song would be picked but I think Camera is the right choice overall. Can they please stop trying to push Luke Combs on us all. I get that maybe he had a hit a couple of years ago with a cover of Fast Car, but he's not marketed for UK audiences and this constant obsession of including a song of his in the country section of the disc is getting very tired now. We don't want it. If we did, his music would be charting much higher. Dolly Parton's only ever appearance in the main series comes this month following her passing, and they choose to use, not 9 To 5, not Jolene, but this duet instead... It just doesn't feel like a fitting tribute choice in my opinion. Disc 2 Expectedly Olivia Rodrigo gets the double appearance in the volume we would have expected for her two recent hits. Not gripes at all there. However, Alex Warren's higher-peaking hits FINE PLACE TO DIE and PASSENGER both get snubbed for the more recent, and lower-peaking, RESCUER. There is just something that doesn't sit right with me about this. First appearance for Carly Rae Jepsen since Now 91, and the first for Chaka Khan... ever! Along with Chaka, it was good to see first time features for Jungle, KAROL G and Delta Goodrem. The longest gap between appearances though isn't Blue (last seen Now 59) or Simple Minds (last seen Now 30) but it is Bonnie Tyler, who last appeared with the very same song on the very first edition of Now That's What I Call Music way back in 1983 and hasn't appeared again since. It seems her tribute sets quite the record for longest gap between appearances for any song in the series. Overall it's a mixture of hits on one disc and vintage artists on the second. It makes me wish that more of what was on Disc 2 had a chance of making it into the UK Charts, but it just seems like that's not a reality we will ever see again.

  6. Never cared for the Alizée song at the time, but I appreciate it more now. Sadly, not quite enough to edge it past P.TM for me.

  14. One point. One. Point.
  15. I would have probably voted for the latter say ten years ago, but now I'm voting for the former and wishing Sara had more than one UK hit.

  17. Hmm. Due to oversights there are three acts that were not given authorisation in time for the opening week and now that passport control has granted them their visas they can join us, but who would they be? Speculate below to win a free gift from ElectroBoy.
  18. All except Dobbo. When he's right, he's right.
  19. I don't know what we're doing but... 48 / 53 Also someone give Zanmatony some mealworms at least.
  20. I took the opportunity to give Taahino some points as it could be the last time I get to do so, but also the song was decent for me.
  21. Not including features, but that lyric sounds appalling.
  22. I really like it, but the 2015 smash from OMI is a very fun hit too. My vote goes to DJ Pied Piper.
