  1. Tomorrow sounds good for me! Can do the other half next week then.
  2. Edited that into the OP, sorry it wasn't mentioned before.
  3. Not me having a top 4 in Nuggets but not a top 3. x
  4. Welcome to Unknown Pleasures vs Nuggets! In this semi we've got all the former winners of Unknown Pleasures. Were the voters right in these contests? Which winners have staying power and which are really of their time? Hopefully there's some nostalgia here for some of you. Please do vote in the Nuggets Semi that Lindsey's running as well! 12 point system, the top 15 tracks will qualify for the final. PM your votes to me before 23:59 on the 24th of November. I know this is a different set up to usual contests, however you still cannot vote for your own entries if you have any. Will compile a YouTube playlist (although if anyone else beats me to it I'd appreciate it xx), don't do Spotify but might try working out an Apple Music one and if anyone else wants to make a Spotify one go ahead. 01: 02: 03: 04: 05: 06: 07: 08: 09: 10: 11: 12: 13: 14: 15: 16: UP XVI (Mar 2014): Lewis – Mssingno – Xe2 17: 18: 19: 20: 21: 22: 23: 24: 25:

JP Leppäluoto - Dance With The Dragon So yeah, not great. BJSC having no taste once again. x Annoying thing is so much of what I really didn't like sailed through as well grr. A shame I don't get to be in 100's final as well. :(
  7. Yas Cor Lupus!
  8. Why? I voted at 9pm. x

No. x But a similar idea I guess in that they're both general discussions about specific topics.
  10. But at least someone's going to ask every month out of 60-70 people. I use them all the time, they're the only way I listen to them right now outside of plug sessions- it's convenient and the best way I have of making time to listen to the entries with them all in once place- adding them all to up next and just listening to them in succession- not flipping between Soundcloud and YouTube, means I can continue doing something else while I listen. I do have 6 months of free apple music with my phone contract so I'm using that a bit (and I appreciate that link!) but I still collect music as well and I like to group BJSC in compilation albums- it'd be tagged messily with streaming (I guess playlists but my pretty album view library would soon get swamped with hundreds of singles), not to mention there are songs that consistently won't be on there. And it's nice to be able to listen offline. I get it's a pain for hosts though so maybe for as long as we're still doing mp3 packs it should be mandatory to include mp3s in submission (or at least strongly encouraged), preferably tagged. Even if they're just YouTube rips it's better each person does their own rather than the host having to do say 30 YouTube rips and tagging them all themselves.

Yeah I agree it was a strange one. It built tension quite well but I was left thinking "get on with it" a lot, the firefights/ taking the building etc could've been done in half the episode and I'm not sure why so much screen time at the beginning and end of the episode (probably 2 or 3 minutes in total) was spent on pointless close ups of characters. I remembered Morales though! Was really interesting to see him back although how has he ended up as a saviour in DC when last we heard he was heading from Atlanta to Alabama with his family? Wasn't really necessary to make it a "big revelation" and screen cuts to black moment either, we could've done with a bit more explanation in this episode but hopefully next week we'll see a bit more.
  12. Omg had no idea that song was Iz otherwise I'd never have given it my 20. xxx Was actually an amazing entry and I'm so glad it won, I know how long you've been waiting to win something Iz so huge congrats haha. BJSC next right? x Thanks for hosting Pete (and for liking my entry- absolute tune right?), was a really good edition.
  13. I did it! Just put in some commiserations. Sorry, I default to the +12 etc system in these contests.
  14. Introducing BJSC 100 // Meadowlark - Headlights LnbAV8Si3fM I've been following Meadowlark since their formation and a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to see them live! Meadowlark is a duo (formerly a trio) with piano, guitar and lots and lots of synths/ electronic drums. They had such an interesting set up live- atmospheric low lit light-bulbs surrounding the stage, a keyboard and analogue synth, electric guitar, several synthpads/ triggers and synth drums (those ones you hit with real sticks but aren't exactly drums) and running through Ableton (DAW software- I could see it from where I was standing). I met up with Liam and stayed at his that evening because I missed the last train back and he lives in Plymouth where I saw the gig... so appropriate entry considering he's hosting (even if this isn't his thing really- he didn't come to the gig  ). "Headlights" is the opening track from their debut LP "Postcards" and for me it packs a punch, I think Kate's voice is absolutely beautiful and here is no exception. It has a slow build, gradually adding more throughout the song and hits at just the right moments. One of my favourites from them. Was very close to sending Pink Heart as well so check that out if you like Headlights! Meadowlark has been entered to BJSC before with Family Tree (lovely song) and came 3rd so this entry has a lot to live up to! The lead singer Kate McGill also has a previous BJSC entry (from a long way back- before she formed Meadowlark) with Diamonds and Waste- that was how I discovered her (when Iz was playing it way back) then ended up following her music for years! I finally got to meet her after the show two weeks ago and she gave me a hug when I told her how long I'd been following her the sweetie. Got a signed poster (signed by Kate and Dan) + a vinyl as well. I'm a bit of a fan. x Diamonds and Waste was also actually covered by Bastille (I think quite early on- possibly before they broke) and they do a great version of the song too (will link them both below). vc5AhQUvmnY hYLGV8bUATo
  15. Ok help please. Euf3uk0QIaY LnbAV8Si3fM uay23ltKc4A fCK_yrvKaz4 Hopefully that's varied enough. x Honestly I'm really stuck, so any pointers are appreciated!
  16. I ordered that MacBook. Went for a MacBook Pro, got pretty much the best specs I could because I'm all too aware I can't upgrade it. Copy paste from the order details: 3.5GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7 Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM 1TB PCIe-based SSD Force Touch Trackpad Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports Touch Bar and Touch ID PRO APP BUNDLE FOR EDUCATION KEYBOARD/USER'S GUIDE-GBR COUNTRY KIT-GBR AppleCare Protection Plan So yeah my bank account is dead (or rather it will be, I'm using Paypal credit with a 6 month plan so I can manage it easier and I can still have a life in the meantime) but yayayayayayyay I've got a Mac. It arrives next week. The Pro App bundle includes Logic as well. Also got a new screen for my desktop (a 2nd 27" identical to the one I've already got) so I can have matching dual monitors. Next thing to do is upgrade my graphics card on my desktop but that can wait another 6 months to a year or possibly more. Thank God I've got a part time job while at uni (and more hours in the holidays) is all I'm saying.
  17. Thanks Bré! I have! All your best ones that I actually vote for DNQ. :(
  18. Bre plz can I have mine? I lost track. :(
  19. ^Edited your post from Spring 2017 to Spring 2018 because I'm sure that's what you meant. These mod powers. Would probably do the same tbh, hyped though! Looking forward to hearing new OC and what his sound might be like now.
  20. Yass I love Noel's solo stuff. Definitely the talent of the band (although tbf what I've heard of Liam's so far is fairly decent- Wall Of Glass sounded better than most of Beady Eye's stuff ). Absolutely adored the self titled debut and Chasing Yesterday was a fantastic album too, will be looking into this. On my first listen of it and Holy Mountain sounds good so far!

Well done Liam! :o I didn't vote for it but I almost did, think I put it in commiserations, nice song and good winner. ^_^ Huge thanks again to mdh for excellent hosting. x

Don't worry Dandy wasn't aimed at you either I just saw your post- it's just I would've appreciated communication (not aimed at you or anyone specifically) before the midnight deadline if my voting intentions weren't good enough. I appreciate not everyone is online all the time (God knows I'm not) but it is near the deadline and I saw a lot of activity on the thread. Why does it have to be so strict anyway, it's an online music contest, not a work deadline. It's supposed to be for fun. Also can we have it more clear cut about late votes? To be honest I assumed they were always accepted with a 15% deduction (if you had an entry in the final). I don't see why a couple of hours here or there should affect anything honestly, even in normal circumstances. I'm not trying to be combative here it's just frustrating. I'm sending my votes when I'm ready, regardless of whether or not they'll be accepted.

I posted a good hour before the deadline and kept checking back and didn't get anything for 40 minutes. This week has been insanely stressful for me and I just want to not rush and actually listen to the tracks in full a decent amount of times for once, not taking a ban for an answer frankly, not even for BJSC 101. I've never missed a deadline before as well, from what I can see mdh has probably gone to sleep so what difference does it make?
  24. Jacob- posted a post in a topic in BuzzJack Song Contest
I'll take that as a yes then, late votes are usually accepted up until the following afternoon and I'm doing it in the early hours.

mdh are you accepting late votes? And assuming they are accepted would that mean that I'm not banned from BJSC 100? This week I've literally been at uni every day, worked a late on Friday evening and worked a long shift today, I've managed to listen a bit but only just getting round to a final full listen and I'd rather hear everything in full rather than skimming over my highlights. Given the choice I'd rather vote at around 1:30am. x
