  2. !!! These odds. *.*

I think Aelandor stand a chance of winning as well!!
    And this??? :o :o

Tbh I don't think so but from the look of it I wouldn't be surprised with top 10.

Or I'll be very let down and it'll come in at #33 giving me yet another marginal peak. xxx

  3. It was so close for Watson, I watched the entire match, heartbreaking to see her go out after such a fantastic display of tennis (four breaks in a row in the final set I believe!) but well deserved to Azarenka. She'll be meeting Konta in the Quarters assuming they both reach it.
  4. BJSC 96 // Lights - Giants

So I've known and loved Lights for years (after chance buying both The Listening and Siberia in early 2012 and getting obsessed with both sounds- she tends to up her game/ switch up her sound every album) and now I finally get to enter her into BJSC with her new single "Giants"! She's got one of the best vocals in pop I've ever heard and I'm not even exaggerating, this is after hearing her stripped down/ acoustic and live versions. So happy to have Lights represent Aelandor because she really does represent that side of my taste perfectly, I hope you all enjoy (and give me a new peak xx).

  5. I'm sure the mods have some kind of protocol but if you'd like me to host a plug session one evening I'm happy to volunteer.
Voting for Thursday for the plug session if you are hosting! Possibly Wednesday but that might be Buzzrate?

  11. So saw these guys yesterday.

Bastille were absolutely amazing and I was impressed by Rationale too, had a great evening. The best part is I was getting absolutely OBSESSED with Send Them Off! for the last few days and Bastille opened with that. :magic:

Bastille; Rationale (The Eden Project, Cornwall [Eden Sessions]: 15th June 2017)

Oh yeah someone did the setlist! I always like to keep track of these if they exist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/bastille/201...d-53e4b741.html
  12. Loved reading all this Joseph even if I didn't comment all that much, I agree with a lot of it as well! I absolutely adored all of your top 10 and while I'm watching series 10 now (and enjoying it a lot more than the last few on the whole!) I do get nostalgic about the earlier ones (particularly series 1-4) and this really makes me want to rewatch them. Good choice for #1, even though it might not be mine it'd be in the top 5 at least! I still remember being so excited to see Rose back for Turn Left (WHAT an episode  ) and of course in the subsequent finale two parter.

Updated the description for the new season! I like where this is going, the last episode following the

    return of Daniel

was actually amazing, I honestly didn't know what to expect at the end of the episode at the dam, we're getting some really complex characters here and I'm enjoying that. It's also becoming more interesting to see TWD in a different country with lots of Spanish (especially in episode 4).

Wasn't so keen on mid season 2 but season 3 seems to have hit the ground running. It was probably the right call

    killing Travis

even though it was so sudden and seemingly so "needless", it wasn't dramatic in the slightest, it just *happened*. It was a tragic event that the main cast just had to deal with sure but there was no indication of it beforehand.

Great to hear Jacob! I was rather impressed by the 'Fuel To The Fire' EP from Rationale. Did Bastille do 'Flaws'? That's my fave of theirs
Rationale closed with that one, it sounded really good! Yes they did, fairly early on in the set, I love Flaws too! Dan went and walked through the crowd for Flaws. Oblivion was a moment tho.

Can now add 2nd December - Gorillaz (Birmingham) to this as well! Think this is the most concerts I have been to in a year *.*
    Jealous. xx

Got Lorde booked with Lottsey on 28th Sept and PVRIS with Lotti on sth like the 24th November, buzzinggggg  Never thought I'd be so buzzed for Lorde but Melodrama has slain me.
I'll be at that PVRIS concert (probably with Iz)! :o
  17. Bastille and Rationale were SOOOOO good

Clean Bandit; Years Away (Great Hall, Exeter: 26th Oct 2014)

Backbeat Soundsystem/ Imperial Leisure; Joe Biddle (The Hub, Plymouth: 12th Dec 2014)

Muse; Marmozets/ Moriarty (Great Hall, Exeter: 20th March 2015)

Coldplay; Reef/ Lavana La Havas (Wembley Stadium, London: 16th June 2016)

The Hoosiers (2nd time); [No support] (The Watering Hole, Perranporth, Cornwall: 2nd July 2016)

Against The Current; As It Is/ Beach Weather (Shepherd's Bush Empire, London: 30th September 2016)

I've seen lots more live music but these are the actual ticketed official concert events I've been to off the top of my head, pretty sure that's everything (if it's not I'll just edit it in). Not that easy to get to many of the gigs I want to because London but we are getting a fair few more big acts in Perranporth and at Eden so I might try getting more at those places.

A quick quote from Tim here listing some of the reasons he stepped down:

From the very first day of my leadership, I have faced questions about my Christian faith. I've tried to answer with grace and patience. Sometimes my answers could have been wiser.

At the start of this election, I found myself under scrutiny again - asked about matters to do with my faith. I felt guilty that this focus was distracting attention from our campaign, obscuring our message.

Journalists have every right to ask what they see fit. The consequences of the focus on my faith is that I have found myself torn between living as a faithful Christian and serving as a political leader.

A better, wiser person than me may have been able to deal with this more successfully, to have remained faithful to Christ while leading a political party in the current environment.

To be a political leader - especially of a progressive, liberal party in 2017 - and to live as a committed Christian, to hold faithfully to the Bible's teaching, has felt impossible for me.

I'm a liberal to my finger tips, and that liberalism means that I am passionate about defending the rights and liberties of people who believe different things to me.

There are Christians in politics who take the view that they should impose the tenets of faith on society, but I have not taken that approach because I disagree with it - it's not liberal and it is counterproductive when it comes to advancing the gospel.

Even so, I seem to be the subject of suspicion because of what I believe and who my faith is in.

In which case we are kidding ourselves if we think we yet live in a tolerant, liberal society.

Frankly I think the scrutiny was grossly unfair, he's a good guy and worthy of being a leader. The "gay sex is a sin" thing (which he never said btw) was blown way out of proportion and continually dragged up at opportune moments by his enemies in the press, he was the leader of the Liberal Democrats ffs, of course he believed in LGBT rights. Whatever his personal views might have been (and I don't think they were illiberal in any way) it was always going to be what he supported in legal terms that would've been important- he'd only support what he felt was right to support and like I say he always supported LGBT rights. This is why politicians are forced to evade questions and are portrayed so dishonestly, make one mistake or say the wrong thing once and you'll be hounded by reporters and opponents for it for a long time and it'll in turn damage your election chances.

I think it's a real shame that someone who considers themselves a strong member of the Christian faith (or indeed any faith) doesn't feel that they can be a leader of a political party and like Farron himself says, it's yet another indication that we're not living in a liberal fair society when someone is so frequently attacked and discredited solely because of that aspect of their identity. At least now though we'll have someone like Vince Cable perhaps without that kind of weight hanging over them.

  19. Oo, interesting.

BJSC 84 // Five Iron Frenzy - Into Your Veins: Interestingly enough I first heard of FIF through the Relient K (current entry plug) 'joke' song "Five Iron Frenzy Is Either Dead Or Dying" from "The Bird And The Bee Sides", as a tribute for them during FIF's huge hiatus (it looked like they'd broken up for good I think, FIF were originally a late 90s band and reformed recently), but that was a couple of years before I found "Into Your Veins" which I just found on Youtube - I clicked on the link because I recognised the band name then fell in love with the song.

BJSC 85 // Said The Sky (Feat. Missio) - Nostalgia: Found Said The Sky on soundcloud, they just popped up in my stream (I think someone reposted it idk) with an interesting remix of Owl City's "Fireflies", I really liked it so I looked through a few more STS tracks and it turned out a lot of them were available for free download, Nostalgia just happened to be one of those and I loved the build on it. It's probably one of the more mellow of Said The Sky's discography.

BJSC 86 // Bears Den - Above The Clouds Of Pompeii: I used to share music with one of my previous housemates last year and the year before and "Islands" by Bear's Den happened to be one of them. This is just one of the tracks that really stood out to me.

BJSC 87 // Imperial Leisure - Man On The Street: A couple of years ago I went to see a concert by Backbeat Soundsystem, another somewhat similar artist (more party reggae ska than hip hop ska though, I was actually torn between entering them and IP for this one) and Imperial Leisure were performing at the same gig, not as a support, more of a joint headliner. They were pretty great so I got the album and picked out Man On The Street because I thought it packed a punch, perhaps I should've tried "Untouchable" but idk if it would've done a lot better.

BJSC 88 // Relient K - Cat: I've been following RK for years! I originally heard of them through a few sources- suggestions on Last.fm because I listened to a bit of punk at the time, such as Paramore (who RK have supported before oo), Green Day, Blink 182 and a few others. I also heard of them through Matt Thiessen's songwriting credits, particularly for his work with Adam Young. I got addicted to their Christmas album (that one's a hell of a lot of fun to listen to haha) then got hooked on each of their other albums one at a time, they're legit one of my favourite artists ever. "Cat" is from their newest album "Air For Free", only released late July and it grabbed me on first listen. The cat/dog debate did influence me slightly in my decision but I probably would've entered it anyway, it's legit one of my favourites from their new album. I almost entered it last month but I already had Imperial Leisure and I wanted to be sure about it since it's so new.

I was almost put off entering them because I thought it might be a little cheap with the spin off entry and their moderate success in the US album charts plus I've ocassionally stanned them on here already but I figured most people wouldn't know them so that's the main thing.

BJSC 89// Sœur - Pass Out: I saw Sœur live in August last year playing an acoustic(ish) set with two acoustic guitars (in drop D of course) and drums. They were playing at Bristol balloon fiesta which I went to with my Dad (who lives in Bristol), was a good day, lots of live music and otherwise was a massive fair. The songs sounded incredibly well written so I decided to look them up online when I got home and found that "Pass Out" was the only single (and song) that they'd released, so I got it immediately, loved it and sent it straight to BJSC! Since then they've released a second single "No Fire" and an EP - "What Separates Us", some of those tracks I prefer to Pass Out so if you liked that definitely check out their other songs! Definitely happy this was my first Q.

BJSC 90// Fireflight - Unbreakable: I found Fireflight through YouTube trawling, they seemed somewhat familiar and I think I may have come across them briefly before, I ended up really liking Unbreakable and sent that.

BJSC 91// Copeland - No One Really Wins: About 2 years ago a YouTuber I liked recommended "You Have My Attention" by Copeland, I fell in love with it instantly and bought the album, released back in 2005. It took a while but eventually I got around to giving the rest of the album a third, forth and fifth listen and amongst others "No One Really Wins" stood out as a banging rock track, with the chorus building each time (just drums first time, staccato guitar the second time and all out on the third go). I love Aaron's voice, I think his falsetto is really exceptional and his normal range and tone is also very impressive. I was really pleased it qualified tho it should've done much better in the final. xx

BJSC 92// HONNE - Loves The Jobs You Hate: Can't actually remember how I found this, but I'd had it in my iTunes for pretty much exactly a year when I entered it and this track was my fave. It was definitely an iTunes purchase as well so maybe I got it after I heard a song or two on YouTube. I don't know them from their previous BJSC entry because I don't even know that song that well even now.

BJSC 93// Breanne Düren - Dear Adelaide: It took me ages to decide which song from this EP to send, I settled on Dear Adelaide because I thought it'd have the widest appeal (possibly), I've known Breanne for years from her previous solo work and her collabs with Swimming With Dolphins and Owl City, but Gem is a relatively new EP (2015).

BJSC 94// Port Blue - Up Ship!: I've known this track for years, it struck me on first listen back in 2012, so much so that I played it on repeat around 100 times in the first few days of hearing it. A beautiful, beautiful piano track. Port Blue is another alias of Adam Young aka Owl City, however Up Ship! and most of his other Port Blue work was done either before Owl City's creation or just after (before Fireflies blew up).

BJSC 95// Nu:Tone (Feat. Lea Lea) - Tides: Last fm trawl for this one which in turn lead to a YouTube trawl, after going through several "similar artists" I found Nu:Tone, saw this as the top track (still very small, only a few tens of thousands on YouTube) and really liked the atmospheric sound to it!
