DT32's EOY Countdown 2019
Glad to see that you liked Ligne 3. You can say King Of The Dudes is nice Hurt Me was the first song I heard by her, and I also remember putting Long Way Home at the lower end of my Top 75 Albums Of 2016 back when I did my 2016 EOY. Glad you like some of the artists on the list. If you find the opportunity to listen to one of these EPs, I hope you end up liking the one you chose to listen through. Thanks for the replies! My Top 50 albums (with an added 25) will start at the end of January/start of February. It might come earlier if I finish some planned writeups quickly

DT32's EOY Countdown 2019
TOP 5 EP's OF 2019 Honorable mentions: Both of the EPs by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (Black Star Dancing and This Is The Place) Willie J Healey - Hello Good Morning Candy Says - You Are Beautiful; We Are All Beautiful 5. Thom Yorke - Suspiria: Unreleased Material While it's not as good as Yorke's official score from last year, it still succeeds in spine-chilling the listener Fave Track: A Conversation With Just Your Eyes 4. Max Blansjaar - Fantasy Living Filled with upbeat, pleasant sounding lo-fi material to spread some good vibes Fave Track: The Shame That I Wear 3. Sunflower Bean - King Of The Dudes A nice slice of that late 70's/early 80's USA punk rock sound Fave Track: King Of The Dudes 2. TNGHT - II Contains some of the most out-of-this-world electronic music of this year. We hear Mohawke and Lunice take a Reggaeton beat and add their own unique sound to it on First Body, some peculiar Young Thug style ad-libs in Club Finger to go with some occasional rave stabs and Clever Pants bearing a flute line that sounds like someone trying to play the theme tune to the animated TV series adaptation of Mr. Bean only to get carried away by freestyling his/her parts. I could see myself returning to this EP quite frequently in the future. Fave Track: Gimme Summn 1. Lapsley - These Elements After a three year hiatus, Lapsley returns to the studio to create a heartbreaker of an EP. The synthesizer is a great choice for a tool to back up these elements of emotion established throughout this EP, this is evident on the highlight of the four Ligne 3, in which we see Lapsley struggling to move on from a breakup. The chorus of Eve 6 has some questions asked about whether the man described in the song truly loves his lover, and Drowning shows that no matter how well you are raised, you still go through low points in your life. Fave Track: Ligne 3 EP Hall Of Fame 2016: Massive Attack - Ritual Spirit 2017: David Bowie - No Plan 2018: Aphex Twin - Collapse 2019: Lapsley - These Elements

Your defining chart moment of this decade
Even though I think it's not good to celebrate a person's death, The Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead campaign was quite amusing for me, mainly because of the controversy. Plus Foals finally getting a number one album in the UK and Dominic The Donkey being so close to getting a record of 'longest time it took for a song to get to number one between its peak date and release date'

Films You Have Watched In 2019!
Klaus Didn't want to go through this December without watching Christmassy, so I saw this animated movie on Netflix that I have been hearing some hype over. This film oozes with an amazing art style blending 2D and 3D animation spectacularly, while also having a charm reminiscent of the animated films that came out during the Disney Renaissance. The main character Jesper Johansson goes through some good character development. Starting off as a postman who wants to get out of Smeerensburg as soon as possible and hates having to work there (as well as bearing some corrupt motivations when kicking off the Christmas business), to genuinely enjoying doing his job with passion and being caring. He does go through quite a handful of misfortune when he arrives at the remote island, but it comes with some cartoonish charm as well as some relatable reactions from him to make these scenes more amusing. The woodsman Klaus is also a great character, coming with a sad, but interesting backstory and feeling more human as the film progresses. The Krums and The Elingboes, while they have a few villain cliches, are enjoyable as villain characters, especially the leader of the former family Mrs. Krum who makes for a fantastically wicked antagonist with a marvellous voice performance from Joan Cusack. I also like how Smeerensburg changes from a cruel, downbeat place to a town filled with festive joy thanks to the spirit of the Klaus legend. Overall, this was an outstanding Christmas film. It might end up in my Top 2 of my favourite Xmas films, along with Home Alone.

DT32 Rates The UK Debuts
26/12/2019 #99. Roddy Ricch - The Box [7/10] #98. Juice WRLD - Legends [7/10] #94. D-Block Europe - Darling [5/10] (Least Fave Of The Week) #83. Jonas Brothers - Like It's Christmas [6/10] #77. Sidemen - The Gift [6/10] #57. Lil Uzi Vert - Futsal Shuffle 2020 [6/10] #48. Jarvis Cocker - Running The World [GOLD] (Fave Of The Week) #39. Harry Styles - Falling [8/10] #9. Stormzy - Lessons [9/10] #6. Stormzy feat. Headie One - Audacity [9/10] (FOTW HM) #1. LadBaby - I Love Sausage Rolls [6/10] Additional comments: Legends is a song about Juice lamenting the deaths of the relatively young, with its instrumentation carrying a melancholy mood. The vocals are a bit too loud and there’s a ‘stealing your girl’ brag that sounds out of place next to the rest of the lyrical content, but it’s a solid song. Former Pulp vocalist Jarvis Cocker recently delivered an excellently tense single in the form of MUST I EVOLVE. We now go back to 2006, the year in which he released his first solo album following the split of Pulp. One of the songs from that album is currently part of a chart campaign, and that song is Running The World. What can I say? This is an excellent piece of music diving into the corrupt state of politics, as well as tackling the broken economy of Britain. This is all backed by gripping arrangements of instrumentation (piano, electric guitar and strings). There’s also an effective use of contrast occurring throughout the song. Cocker’s vocals sound relatively quiet at first, before getting loud near the end. This buildup shows a person gradually becoming more confident in speaking up for the many issues circling his country. We’ve got two tracks from Stormzy’s album Heavy Is The Head. While I don’t like it as much as Gang Signs & Prayer, it’s still a very good album. Lessons shows Stormzy look back on a previous relationship that didn’t go well. He displays his guilt and what he could have done to stray away from the huge problems. The mellow, jazz keyboards add to the reflectiveness of this song. In Audacity, Stormzy goes hard with his flows while an arrangement of strings back him up to give a vicious vibe. While I didn’t like Headie’s verse as much as Storm’s, he does come with some solid flows and some interesting lines involving his situations with the police. 02/01/2020 (lots of zeros and twos) #73. Liam Payne - All I Want (For Christmas) [7/10] (this piano ballad looks into a broken point in a relationship. The way it uses the typical 'having fun on Christmas' imagery to contrast with the drama is interesting) #70. Jessie J - Man With The Bag [8/10] (Fave Of The Week) (love the orchestration in this, and Jessie's voice has a retro feel to it)

Sergej's Year-End Lists of 2019
I really like Press and Call You Mine, and I liked the JIK album too. Rewrite The Stars is my least fave of the Reimagined album, but it's alright. BTW, I actually prefer the Reimagined album over the original soundtrack. Cool is okay, Thotiana is oddly amusing and No Guidance is decent. Murder On My Mind is one song from the list so far that I didn't really like.

DT32 Rates The UK Debuts
19/12/2019 #79. Juice WRLD - All Girls Are The Same [8/10] #76. Don Toliver - No Idea [7/10] #71. Taylor Swift - Christmas Tree Farm [6.5/10] (Least Fave Of The Week) #69. Camila Cabello feat. DaBaby - My Oh My [7/10] #66. Bugzy Malone - December [GOLD] (Fave Of The Week) #60. JAY1 - Million Bucks [8/10] #41. John Legend - Happy Christmas (War Is Over) [7/10] #11. Harry Styles - Adore You [9/10] (FOTW HM) Additional comments: All Girls Are The Same has some melancholy chiming sounds to accompany Juice, who is singing about his struggles during a break-up. He is sad to the point where he is shaming women and shutting them out of his mind. This soundS sexist, but I can understand why he’s thinking that because of the emotions he’s detailing out in this scenario and how he became heartbroken during so.My Oh My has Camila fall for a bad boy like in Havana with some really good call and response in the chorus. DaBaby raps from the perpsective of the bad boy but his flows are a bit too fast for the slow moving rhythm of the instrumentation.December has a gloomy Winter sound to it while Bugzy dives into similar reflective themes to MEN II. What’s different about the two is that December has a verse-chorus structure rather than just long verses and the instrumentation switches up occasionally. There is also an addition of dark choir vocals during the 2nd verse. The vocal harmonisation in the chorus of Adore You sounds breath-taking. Edit: Forgot Christmas Tree Farm

HATECHART 2019 | RESULTS
Crown is fantastic, and one of my fave UK Top 40 hits of the year. As is Ride It. "Where. The f***. Should I. Really even start!" Money In The Grave is a banger that I kept coming back to. I love the way he says "I was on top when that shit meant a lot!" in the 2nd verse. Advice, Options and Guten Tag are decent. Stack It Up is... okay.

RIP Marie "Roxette" Fredriksson
This is sad news to hear. The Look and It Must Have Been Love are both great songs
