A*Teens - 25th Anniversary
they look so good! can’t believe Sara is so heavily pregnant and performing like that too! i’m excited to see if this leads to anything with them as they have some real bops. if you like swedish pop, you’ll love them. all of their albums are pretty solid. look out for ‘closer to perfection’, ‘cross my heart’, ‘let your heart do all the talking’ & ‘sugar rush’.. i could go on!

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
i got goosebumps hearing the crowd sing along! while i was in the arena, i was talking to attendees from israel, germany, australia + spain who were all talking positively about the song + sang along when it came on. the overall feel was that it won’t win but should do decently. i know that’s absolutely no bearing on how it will do tonight but there’s a lot of good faith + the audience genuinely like the song. really glad they’ve amped up the backing vocals as she definitely needed it - not that i think her vocals are terrible but this kind of talky chorus would need a lift regardless of the vocalist. i’m hopeful we’ll get a decent placing - anything on the left hand side will be a win.

S Club: Reunion Discussion
great to see them all together again! one thing that’s always bugged me about s club is that they never seem to do a new photoshoot?! even in their heyday, they reused the ‘don’t stop movin’ single cover for the greatest hits. they used the ‘sunshine’ cover for the first reunion + now, they’ve used the ‘7’ album cover. it makes it all seem a little half-arsed. i’d love to see some new visuals, especially when we were so spoiled with steps. they loved getting in front of the camera.

The Saturdays
my heart takes over is nice but it’s not what the public wanted from them. it should have gone notorious into all fired up and faster lead the album. i know they did the album chart show performance of ‘faster’ and it was starting to get played on radio but then it got pulled. i guess they thought with una being pregnant and what was happening with frankie, it would be easier to have a vanessa and rochelle led single.

the heat must have surely tampered with the taste levels cause sabina deserved to qualify x

Beyoncé - Break My Soul
i’m loving this! great hook + it’s so good to hear her on something like this. i haven’t really enjoyed her recent projects so it’s nice to have her back in the mainstream. only negative is that i don’t think it needs to be 4:38, i think a single/radio edit will trim the excess a little + leave an absolute bop.

VINCINT, MNEK, Hayley Kiyoko & Kesha - Taste So Good
the song is an absolute bop, i’m getting major britney pepsi vibes from it. also, i didn’t watch the video properly at first + thought that was kesha at the end of the photo but it’s patrica arquette

BJSC 145 | The Final Results
wow everything is so close, looks like everyone kinda split the vote a little this month! not surprised about the winner, i mean it’s stevie nicks so of course there’ll be crossover appeal. loved the track though so well done! not really sold on the top 10 as a whole, pop was given the boot this month huh. thanks so much for the votes for bigger love, i thought this one may have crossed over more as it’s primarily a pop song but not much love from the pop countries + some surprise points + mentions from countries that don’t usually point us so perhaps it appealed to a different audience than i thought. back to all-out pop next month. fab hosting, thanks so much for the smooth running of the semis and the final. you were great

LONG SONGS
i just checked out the spotify playlist of all your entries + for a vast amount of time, the length of your entries was 03:XX - what prompted you to opt for longer songs now? was it just a switch in taste? are they more popular now? sorry for all the q’s, i’ve just never really paid that much attention to it + i’m curious.

LONG SONGS
i’d actually be really interested to see how many people listen to up-to-10 minute songs regularly or if they’re just sending them to appeal to a certain type of audience in the contest. it might just be me but i don’t have the attention span for them. i could do without the super long ones tbh. i guess it’s why eurovision do it too - the time it takes to get through them can be frustrating.

CXLIV - The Results
thanks so much for another top 20! + fab hosting again  some great tracks in the top 10 but i knew the pop tracks would divide the pop voters - there was just too much to choose from. well done to lotunia on the win! i think this is the most points i’ve ever given fsr rontvia; this one soared it was glorious, the melody is gorgeous. loved the claudia valentina track but not as much as 4:15 so very slight gladness it didn’t beat that.

The Saturdays
it’s also worth noting that they didn’t give themselves a lot of time to rehearse for their performances. those of us that followed them know that there was always something happening with them - biggest thing being the pregnancies, it was a miracle they managed to get anything done. plus, they always seemed to be on holiday  i always thought part of their charm was that they weren’t quite as polished but then when you see some of the bigger performances, i wished they’d put a bit more in it.

The Saturdays
i’ll also die on the hill that wildfire was leaps + bounds ahead of gentleman in quality - that really should have been the a-side. it was so much more where the uk music scene was at that time. gentleman was very clearly meant for an american audience, the rap section listing off a list of largely american men, as if lamar odom and larry king were households names here?! had they gone what about us > wildfire > disco love > not giving up i think a different story would have played out.

The Saturdays
30 days was cute but when you had the likes of faster, get ready, get set and white lies just sitting on an album, it was crazy that they were passed up in favour of it. the album had done so poorly that the gp wouldn’t have known where the tracks had come from.

CXLIV - The Grand Final
voted. i went back and forth between my 18 through 10 so much. the pop entries are craaazy good this month. the only way i can't see anything pop winning is if we split the votes because they're all so good.

The Saturdays
there would have to be some serious money in it for them + 3 of them have pretty cushty broadcasting gigs so it won’t happen. the cash is in touring + they didn’t do particularly well there so there’s no incentive for them to do it. as long as rochelle continues to get the big presenting gigs, we have no hope :(

Confetti Tour • 2022
how dare they acknowledge the person proposing + not just sing the song that so many people have paid to hear them play!! they are so out of order for this. we paid good money to hear them sing 7-year-old secret love song that we have obviously never heard them sing before!!

Tove Lo - Dirt Femme
the video is insane - so good!

Jade reportedly dropping surname for solo debut!
common name?! how many albums do you own by artists called jade?
-
Jade reportedly dropping surname for solo debut!
if it's true, it's the right decision. from a branding perspective, her surname is long, confusing (the gp are stupid) + unfortunately not the most inspiring. shortening it to just jade is the right thing to do.
