no apologies are necessary. i'm not sure how else i can elocute that i'm not worried/upset/offended etc - i'm just interested in the discussion! my entry from last month literally came last on plug, getting 0 woots + an overall muted response - it really doesn't bother me if people don't like the song, it's not actually my song :lol: the throwaway comments or not liking the song is fine, it'd be a boring life if we all liked the same thing. nobody is here to gatekeep which genres or songs that you should/shouldn't like, i was just defending my entry. i'm pretty sure i've called you all tasteless in the past! that said - this is the first time i've mentioned anything of this nature so if it's "always an issue" perhaps a wider discussion should be had?

this is becoming a bigger deal than it should be. i made a comment based on (more than 2) comments during the results that were slightly dampening my experience of the contest - i elaborated more in my response to lewis to reflect my position. to be clear: i haven't taken it to heart + i certainly didn't say that you shouldn't comment on what you like or don't like. i simply asked for a little bit of kindness when expressing opinions as, if they're negative, they're not always that fun to take x

oh thanks lew - i'm not worried at all, though! :heart: i just wanted to put an awareness out there - perhaps people don't know they're doing it + if they are aware, perhaps think twice about it in the interest of being kind. i often have some back + forth with people in bjsc so i quite enjoy the 'banter' but, even i must admit, it was taking some of the shine off last night. there may also be some others that feel like they can't express how they're feeling about other people's comments + that's why it's worth just reminding people to be cautious that their opinion isn't the only opinion. like bre said earlier, the votes speak louder than anything else - i'm elated with how the song did as i had no expectations as it was always predicted to come between mid-table and the bottom! :lol:

the girls were also very clear that "if one of us left, that would be it" so you can't really take everything they've ever said to be gospel. there's a vast difference between a soppy speech + what jesy posted. having followed them since x factor + hearing how they spoke to each other, their terms of endearment, their love for each other - i don't think it's unfair to question why she would simply thank them in an otherwise honest + frank statement. also, with respect, you have no more idea than i do that there's 'nothing there'.

it was inevitable she was leaving, i think they were just giving her time to properly decide what she wanted to do. if it makes her happy + keeps her healthy then that's the best anybody can wish for her. she's 100% going solo, it's written all over her statement. it's clear she didn't like the pressures of having to conform to a certain look, sing certain music + the constant backlash she received was ultimately not worth it for her in the end. i think, on her terms, she'll have a different take on it all. she'll be the driving force + she can do what she wants, however she wants to do it. one thing that intrigued me is her message to the girls, it left me a little cold. thanking them + hoping they'll fulfil all of their dreams, making music people love? the lack of something along the lines of "thanks for your support, you're my sisters, i love you etc" feels a little odd to me.

but even taking little mix out of the equation, i don’t understand why they would want to release a track when it’s going to be swallowed by the influx of christmas songs.

i don’t understand the strategy of putting it out there now if they have no intention of pushing it til after. especially as sweet melody is still smashing. why not wait until the new year? is it to get on new year’s eve playlists etc?

blinding lights is like THE pop song of the last 12 months though. don’t start now, say so, everything i wanted + watermelon sugar are also definitive pop songs. cardigan - while some may say it’s a great song - is barely passable as pop. if anyone else had sang that song it would not have a pop nomination. yummy is a total disgrace + shouldn’t even have been considered let alone nominated for the grammy.

rain on me had better get the duo award. would love dua to get something but the categories are tough. really didn’t like anything taylor did from this album so i’m hoping she doesn’t get everything.

i don’t remember suggesting that everyone would return their album. i was talking about why the label/ the group may not want it to come out if she has left - purely speculative. thinking outside the fandom who have their own money, a large portion of their fans are younger people who don’t buy the albums, tickets, merch themselves. parents or relatives buying the cd for the child for christmas, or thinking about buying tickets for the tour, may think twice about buying it if jesy’s their favourite + her presence in the band going forward is up in the air. but again - we don’t know anything other than her having some time off so hopefully she’s getting the help she needs + feels better.
