thanks for the votes. loved to see some 18’s + 15’s! attention is a bop so i’m glad it clicked with those voters! i knew a covid-19 symptom was a loss of taste, i just didn’t think it was in the musical sense. some great songs unfairly in the bottom half but we have a great winner too so can’t complain at that + thanks for hosting jakee!

not just fans, i’m talking mum’s + dad’s who may have bought it for their child for christmas etc. there’s a whole take on “might as well not bother now”. it’s just all speculative though isn’t it. the most important thing is that she’s well, regardless of what she decides.

i completely disagree. if jesy is a fans favourite, i wouldn’t have thought they’d want to invest in the band she didn’t want to be in anymore? all the formats of the album, combined with the jesy picture vinyl, the cassette etc maybe getting returned - i don’t think the label would want to take the risk. it’s not just the album either, they have the tour to think about. the amount of jesy fans that may not want to go because she’s not there would be a frightening prospect for the tour promoter/management.

it wasn’t mid-week, though? their pr guy randomly announced it on twitter before the big week of promo + aside from the kylie battle, the silence has been just as much of a talking point. like i said, i hope i’m wrong but it’s all just a bit suspect. i wouldn’t be surprised if the jonathan ross promo gets pulled.

i’m not saying it’s right to force the hand by any means but the silence is just perpetuating the whole situation. for someone who is usually quite active on social media to suddenly disappear with little-to-no explanation, not turning up to events, turning off tagging on socials and not wanting to be mentioned - it’s going to raise alarm bells. her mental health is the #1 priority in it all but, unfortunately for jesy, being a celebrity of her stature won’t fully allow the downtime that we think she’s after. i really hope i’m wrong but it feels like she’s quit + instead of announcing it straight away, they’re giving her some time to think about it before announcing it. if she was having a mental health break, why not be upfront about it from the get-go? they wouldn’t even need to say it’s a mental health thing - they could just be upfront + say that, after seeking medical advice, jesy is taking some time off.

indeed, it’s a full-on bop. i feel like it’s much better than story of a heart? they’re similar because they share the same scandipop sound. i’m glad they didn’t play too much with the tempo - jenny’s version sounds almost trance-like + i think this version suits steps more.

i genuinely thought there'd been a problem with my download when i saw these track lengths but nope - they're actually this short.

if the physical cover was iridescent i could go along with the cover she chose

i was expecting a slow r&b jam from the comments in here - this is a good compromise, it’s still got a very pop chorus. it’s nothing groundbreaking but i don’t think that was what she going for. i didn’t have any expectations but it doesn’t sound far from what i expected her to release. thematically, it’s a very similar lane to tu,n + while i personally enjoy it, i understand why other fans could be disappointed. i think they’ll be bopping soon enough but i do also think she’s only got one album of this sound left if she wants to stay at this level cause we won’t keep buying the same thing over + over.

the ps1 remix is a stormer! the song itself has some great elements - the hook is great and the chorus is good. lyrics are clunky asf upon second listen, i preferred the song before i paid attention to the lyrics. i’m not too keen on the production for the album version but it fits in the context of the album + i think it will do as well as the other two singles.

brett is a country singer so i hope this isn’t super country, i want a poppy christmas bop.
