  1. Really then she's just trying something different, there's no harm to that apart from to us chart geeks <_< I don't think her album sales will be hit particularly hard from the singles not being chart eligible, if anything not being branded with the label of a flop before the albums even released could benefit her in the long term
  2. I'm with a few people in not understanding how Aleesha can make her single available "outside of the official chart." It strikes me as such a bizarre move because I like the new song and I'm disappointed it doesn't get the chance to chart naturally which I was still convinced it would
  3. It doesn't have enough time to chart anywhere near the top 40 surely though right? The Andie Case cover of Jason Derulo was around 10-30 for the entire week and only charted in the low 20s as far as I remember, this Are You With Me cover hasn't anywhere near enough time to make the top 40 I reckon
  4. Britney down to 12 now, I'm surprised to see that the song hasn't held up as well as Zedd and Selena did last week. I'm not a big lover of the song and I didn't think it'd do amazingly but I'm shocked it's not even really going to be in the fight for a top ten official placing now
  5. I think Lost Frequencies will win the battle as well, although I expect it to be interesting and close. Mainly Lost Frequencies will win because they're already available for streaming and are picking up steam whereas Tinie and Jess will have to sadly start from scratch. Lost Frequencies is also performing better on pre orders now as well. It'd be interesting to look back at the predictions thread for Lost Frequencies, I think I remember so many of us, myself included felt it'd be lucky to be around the top 20 range, if it loses the battle it'll have done exceptional regardless
  6. I think it'll do reasonably well and reach the top ten easily, especially since I discovered last night that it's already available for streaming so hopefully it won't suffer from low streaming sales like some new releases have recently in their first week. I honestly never thought that we'd see Robin Thicke anywhere near the top 40 again, just shows the effect Flo Rida can have
  7. I still think it'll grab number one on sales on around 100,000 but Avicii's release on the same day is going to make it an interesting chart battle! I'm not the biggest Little Mix fan in the world but I like this song, sounds like a proper number one to me!
  8. I found it interesting that they don't count Bastille's Pompeii as a million seller because it's only over a million on combined sales. I guess that means the likes of Love Me Like You Do and Take Me To Church will have a bit to go for official one million selling status
  9. I was about to come here to post the exact same thing! :P This could be enough to finally push Let It Go to million seller status!
  10. I'm not really against streaming per say but does anybody think it'll ever be possible that instead of 1000 streams counting as one single sale it could maybe double to 2000 per sale or even 5000 per sale? It'd help stop songs reaching the all time charts despite being less popular than some of the songs not on that chart, maybe 1000 per sale is just too little?
  11. You'd think that record labels would have learned from that situation Omi found himself in recently where the success of a cover version forced them to release the track earlier than intended, although I guess you can argue Omi didn't exactly pay for the mistake... It's still lost sales no matter which way you look at it I suppose! If Taylor didn't have her problems with Spotify I'd imagine Bad Blood could have been a contender for this week or next weeks top three, even without streaming I can still see it possibly cracking the top ten this week regardless.
  12. Is Ghosttown's official release this week instead of the next one? I just seen on the OCC website that it was released this week but apart from that I've heard absolutely nothing else about it
  13. While the fake version definitely was stealing buys off of Omi I think that he would have had a much better chance of number one if he'd waited that last week. See You Again will get the majority of its sales this week and then with Omi's pre-orders he'd have been fine. Now it's going to be a tight battle for number one... It's exciting!
  14. I think that with Cheerleader being brought forward Carly should definitely reach number one although I don't think that her sales will break the 100K barrier, somewhere around the 90 mark is what I'm expecting. Regardless I'm so chuffed for Carly. No matter what her reputation as a bit of a one hit wonder will be gone in a few weeks time and I'm excited for that!
  15. Apologies in advance if this is a really stupid question but if hypothetically this fake version of Cheerleader absolutely skyrocketed in sales to the point it was officially within the top 40 would it be eligible and would the BBC be obliged to play it on the chart show as well? I know it's all hypothetical but I'm curious.
  16. I was out all day so basically went through this thread playing the videos of everything that was well received on here and it was such an awesome way to take a trip down memory lane, there's so many songs I'd completely forgotten about that I've been reminded of tonight, definitely going to check out the thread for this tomorrow. Well done to everybody who hosted this all day, I could only imagine the amount of hard work and dedication required into preparing anything, the people who stayed up from the beginning and stuck with it all day deserve credit in particular, days like this are why I love looking around this forum!
  17. I love a Thousand Miles so much! It shocks me that this was Vanessa Carlton's only top twenty hit, I thought at least one of her other songs should have made it. Nolita Fairytale is one of my favourite songs ever
  18. Hi guys, I'm a long term browser on here but I just signed up to say that Fearne Cotton actually said on her radio show today that the criteria was songs that charted in the top 20 only once, just in case anybody else on here wasn't listening at the time. I'm really interested to see how this plays out, if the thread is anywhere near as fun as the weekly chart countdown then it's going to be awesome!
