They had to do something to move their sound onward. I would say that they have similar sounds through the tracks to other great bands, but is that such a bad thing? Another album of the "quiet start followed by shouty chorus with a pounding drum" just wouldn't cut it!!

I totally get the Haim reference! I like him and The Killers, but I'm the same, I don't really get the buzz around this, standard output really from a guy who has produced some superb stuff?

I assume you're talking of Lucy Pearl - Don't Mess With My Man? Or maybe Blackstreet -No Diggity? To be fair, they're both great tracks. I like the way Ed's 'explodes' into the chorus though! Maybe not looking to be as smooth 😉
