No they've just chosen to ignore the science as they've done at every stage of the epidemic until it's too late

@1346123250200403968 Big indicator of a March style lockdown

The November lockdown did a good job of bringing the infection rate down across the country apart from the South East where the new variant was starting to spread in schools and opening up London in tier 2 at the start of December was nothing short of complete incompetence when they knew (no matter how much they pretend they didn't) that a new variant was beginning to spread in that part of the country.

Crying for Raheem missing out on £100,000 with one second left. Absolutely brutal 😭 Also The Beast kicking off because Shaun took too long to answer - what a moment *.*
  5. Didn't the tabloids run a similar story last year that Jodie & Chris had both quit?
  6. At least this managed to grab that top 5 peak before the Christmas takeover - her team played a blinder with the Morrisons ad, promo, radio airplay and playlisting all coinciding at the same time to be able to get that.

Much better for The Masked Singer! I don't think we'll be seeing it launch during Christmas week again.

This is just bizarre and will surely lead to lack of confidence in the vaccination programme even if they don't go ahead with this approach? If it's not available, there must be enough time in the window to wait for the correct dose to be available?!

Meanwhile in the real world, there will be Brexit implementation disruption, Covid will remain rampant until at least June 2021, a surge in unemployment from this summer as furlough ends and sadly an Autumn 2021 budget/spending review with the return of austerity because it's the Tories.

I don't know why I've only just heard this EP but every single song is a massive bop. Why isn't she massive when she's churning out these quality chart friendly bops?!

NYE and NYD have been the highlight of the festive period and of the Mick storyline. The affair really did cheapen it and you can feel that in the Mick & Linda scenes on NYD. The Mick & Katy scenes were very well done - I feel there's got to be more to come. We've still yet to bring Frankie into the mix!
  12. I don't think it was the absolute best episode of the Whittaker / Chibnall era but it was really solid and a big step up from much of the last series and in particular from the poor 'Resolution' special two years ago. Given Chibnall seems to have an aversion to festive specials, I thought it was pretty good and the best we can probably hope for during his era. Seeing the throwback monsters in jail was quite a hoot and having Captain Jack back really elevated the episode. It was nice to have a more character driven episode but it did feel like the Daleks played second fiddle to the character arcs at some points. They could have quite easily got a lengthy 90 minute special out of it and made more of the Dalek invasion. Like Chez says, I also think they could have made more of the Doctor in prison, which again felt rushed. Yaz is starting to come into her own now so I'm glad she's staying on - she's always felt under-utilised compared to Ryan and Graham. I'm not sure how I feel about John Bishop. A very left-field choice but then a lot of people said Bradley Walsh wouldn't work and he did!

I think that's quite good for Doctor Who - I expected around 4m based on its recent downward trend and the fact everything seems to be rating on the low side this festive period. It's a bit worrying that The Serpent couldn't beat Doctor Who despite the lack of competition in the 9pm slot, whilst Doctor Who faced a similar rating Emmerdale in its slot.

Graham Norton did very well - around 1m higher than normal I think? I can't recall his NYE show going higher than around 4.3m in recent years. Given the overnights have been fairly low all round despite more people being at home, I wonder if catch up will be better? Or if linear TV has just lost viewers for good.
  15. What a performance :cheeseblock: Fingers crossed for a big top 10 peak in the US this week 🤞🏽
  16. I don't know why but I'm crying at "chilling on Skaro" But it's so true 🤣

10.75m for the New Year broadcast between 00:00 to 00:10 on BBC One last night - that's down around 0.5m from last year but pretty decent all things considered. Jools Holland also beat Alicia Keys oops: @1344957132203036672

BBC have missed a trick not having Fireworks into EastEnders at 00:10 to boost the ratings :o

That would be even more unforgivable than Pat and Ronnie & Roxy

It will be interesting to see how well the NYE fireworks replacement does this evening with everyone staying at home this year!

I'm enjoying the Lucas return / scenes but cannot look passed how on earth he would have even been released this early?! He literally tried to escape 4 years ago and killed three(?) people.

That wasn't a particularly surprising twist - why else would they have randomly lumped Shirley & Tina in at Gray's house? Also it was teased a while ago that there would be a serial killer storyline that begins to play out over Christmas that wasn't obvious at that stage. I think I agree with T Boy that they've probably got the choice of death 'right' for once. Tina's not a legacy character or leading character but still a big enough presence to have an impact on the show and other characters.
