BBTory Bias
I'm conscious not to peddle conspiracy theories but part of me thinks maybe this is the intended public reaction from BBC management? It's well known that many of the senior BBC Board are effectively Tory plants (including the DG and Chairman). Maybe this is all part of the Tories' efforts to try and defund the BBC in the long term. I just find it bizarre that a corporation this large and well versed in dealing with this type of controversy has let it get this far in terms of the negative press. It's easy to forget that the story had died down by yesterday and the BBC management essentially lit the fuse by asking Linekar to step aside from MoTD yesterday. There wasn't really any pressure even from the Tories publicly for them to do that. You just have to hope that the rest of the BBC Board removes the DG from post (which seems unlikely) or there's enough pressure on Sunak to sack the Chairman. I'd like to think, and hope that, Labour will make the BBC truly independent of the government once it gets back into power. Put in place what is necessary to prevent anyone who has previously stood for a political party sitting on the BBC Board and remove the power for the Government to appoint the BBC Chairman (and non-executive members) and leave the decisions with the BBC Board entirely as to who takes these positions. This Government has really exposed the fact that the BBC governance structure does not work if the government of the day is purposely interfering with its independence.

BBTory Bias
Hopefully this will give the BBC the wake up call it needs to stop bowing to this Government. It's ludicrous that a sports presenter is being held to the same standards on political impartiality as those in the news division. Lineker's job has nothing to do with politics. I imagine we will either end up now with Linekar leaving the BBC and some half arsed fake apology from the BBC or the BBC backing down entirely, just as they did in the Naga Munchetty complaint case a few years ago with so much public opinion against them - although this is a lot more high profile and there has been significantly more backlash than in the Naga Munchetty situation.

Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there’s a tunnel under…
Huge :cheeseblock: This era is really delivering so far - both singles are amazing and her best since probably the NFR era. Excited to hear the rest of the album now!

EastEnders
The trailer really isn't giving anything away but my interest is piqued. The show is on top form at the moment, so I'm sure it will be great whatever this storyline is about! Also have to say the return of Sam has been one of the best written for quite some time. I like the way the writers have slowly bedded her back in before returning her character to the version that left in 2005 and haven't completed discounted the regressed Daniella version. It's felt very natural and she's working well away from the core Mitchell group.

2023 UK Ratings Discussion
I feel like Happy Valley could reach 10m for the final episode based on its growth so far. It has added nearly 1m between episode 1 and 3 so seems possible. Annoying that we don't get the 28-day ratings anymore - it could very well be that each episode comfortably passes 10m on 28 day data!

2023 UK Ratings Discussion
BARB has finally updated for the first time since mid-December and thrown up a very interesting rating from Netflix! Glass Onion on Netflix was watched by 6.74m on the week of 19-25 Dec and then 5.21m on the week of 26 Dec-1 Jan. A total average of 11.95m across the two reporting weeks :o The highest rating of 2023 so far goes to episode 3 of Happy Valley with 8.78m viewers.

The Traitors US • Series 3
The UK version was definitely more iconic, but the US version was at least an entertaining watch. I didn't know who any of the celebs were apart from Ryan Lochte so it didn't feel too weird for me. I did still feel a lot more manufactured than the UK version due to having people who clearly understood or were familiar with how reality TV works. The only way I think the US version has bettered the UK version is the more satisfying ending -

Libianca - People
Loving this song atm and great to see that it might be about to take off in popularity as well.

RAYE - Escapism. / The Thrill Is Gone.
What a moment for Raye! So pleased to see her reach #1 with this after the journey she has been on. Hopefully this is just the beginning as well!

The Traitors
Kieran played that roundtable very well when it became clear very quickly that Wilf had engineered the vote to oust him. Definitely the best thing Kieran did all series and I'm glad that Hannah & Aaron weren't drawn into Wilf's last ditch attempt to survive (even if predictably Meryl was lol). I just hope series 2 doesn't disappoint after the show has set such a high bar for itself now with this first series.

The Traitors
It was just bizarre how they all agreed that the final traitor must be one of the male contestants and then not a single person voted for a man. Wilf and/or Kieran really do deserve to win after how bad the others played it in that roundtable. Even Maddy didn't go for Wilf in that round table despite being convinced it was him? A really disappointing roundtable after it looked to be set up for Wilf v Kieran! The final format is at least intriguing and will be interesting to see how it plays out. It does seem pretty unfair for the faithfuls not to know how many traitors remain as you would logically expect once you catch the third traitor, that will be it.

The Traitors
Wilf has potentially made a very bad move. Kieran (or whoever he picked even if not him) will know how ruthless Wilf is after seeing him basically oust both Alyssa and Amanda. Kieran could very easily accept and then turn the group against Wilf (or at least suggest giving Maddy's theory a try with Wilf), leaving him standing as the last traitor. Kieran genuinely could come from nowhere and win the whole thing lmao That's hardly a surprise when she keeps going for him and virtually no one else each time. He's hardly going to be friendly towards someone who keeps unjustifiably going for him

The Traitors
Fuming. Amanda wasn't even coming for Wilf wtf 😭 Get him Maddy!!

The Traitors
Amanda continues to be an evil genius. She plays the game so so well. I did surprise me that Alex decided not to be a traitor. I expected that she would do it! But I guess it did create more drama at the roundtable with the reveal and hopefully opens up the opportunity for the traitors to recruit someone else other than Alex once things calm down a bit.
-
The Traitors
I was quite shocked that Amanda backed Wilfred over Alyssa there but I can definitely see the reasoning behind it. As others have said, she was really struggling to defend herself. She was a great traitor until she fell under the spotlight. It's a shame though as I was rooting for her! I just hope Amanda hasn't sabotaged herself by siding with Wilfred. He will definitely throw her under the bus if given the chance.

The Traitors
Amanda is surely going to win! She's playing the game so so well. Agreed on not being a fan of the two guys coming back today. It undermines what was a brutal but effective twist in episode 1. I was also rooting for Meryl when she clapped back at Maddy  I feel like Maddy is starting to fall into the Tom category now and may not survive the table much longer but we'll see...

Adele - 30
It's probably one of her better music videos and had a lot of cute moments. The scene into the final chorus with her pushing all the wine glasses away stands out for me. I just feel it's all come about six months too late and won't be reviving the 30 era in any big way if that's what her team is hoping for

Doctor Who • The Power of the Doctor
It was an entertaining episode and finale for Jodie's Doctor, but I'm sure glad to see the end of this era. I'm not sure how I feel about Tennant being an official 14th Doctor but let's see how it pans out next year in the three specials. Three episodes of Tennant and Tate will be enjoyable at least!
