How long will Boris last as PM?
Half of the Tory benches were cheering him on and laughing along with him, so I wouldn't count on it.

Neighbours AXED
If it's true that Channel 5 are making a £5m loss on the show, I don't think it's surprising to see it axed. Channel 5 is focusing on original content these days, and is doing very well for it. I can't see any other British broadcaster being keen to pick up a loss-making import. First, Holby City getting axed and now Neighbours. Not a good time for the long-running soap genre in the UK!

Absolutely pathetic from the Chancellor. And hitting already stretched Council funding in the process.

Nadine Dorries is simply saving her own skin. No one other than Johnson would let her anywhere near government.

Glad to see Adele confirmed - hopefully she'll perform something other than Easy on Me.- The Tory lies and deceit thread
Shocking! Good on Ian Blackford for sticking to his guns, he did absolutely nothing wrong - EastEnders
I'm pleased to have Kim's version of Sam back - she was around in the show when I first started watching and always felt like 'my Sam' over Daniella's version of the character. The Daniella returns were poor, if they really wanted Sam back, it should have been Kim on those occasions as well. It will be interesting to see where they take Sam's character. I definitely think there's scope for her to fill the Ronnie shaped hole in the Mitchell family (well, pre-misery Ronnie) with Kim back in the role. Maybe we could even see the Mitchells back in the Vic with Danny Dyer leaving? Phil, Kat and Sam would be quite an interesting dynamic. Especially with the history that Kat and Sam have from Kim's era.- ITV & BBC soap and news schedule changes from 7 March 2022
Moving EastEnders to 7pm on Mondays-Thursdays would be sensible and, if anything, create stability of a regular timeslot out of the high rating Regional News on BBC One. It's unlikely to face regular soap clashes and avoid most big events on the other side, as well as minimising sport disruption since things like The FA Cup usually airs 7:30-10pm. Also a good chance to switch Friday to Wednesday since Friday episodes continue to underperform the rest of the week. The One Show is ultimately disposable, cheap factual that shouldn't be prioritised over EastEnders. I'm not sure the BBC would get away with leaving EE up against the ITV soaps four times a week. I guess the new ITV scheduling also leaves Tuesdays at 8pm as the only decent slot for Waterloo Road to avoid one of the ITV soaps, though, potentially without the benefit of an EastEnders lead-in if that does indeed switch to 7pm.- Waterloo Road
Angela Griffin returning :cheeseblock: Now I'm hyped for the revival!- ITV & BBC soap and news schedule changes from 7 March 2022
As rumoured on other forums, ITV has now confirmed a new regular schedule for its weekday peak time slots: 6:00pm Regional News 6:30pm ITV Evening News (new hour-long format) 7:30pm Emmerdale (all weekdays) 8:00pm Coronation Street (hour-long on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) https://www.itv.com/presscentre/press-relea...mme-march-2022# It also means ITV will now have drastically fewer pre-9pm slots for any programming other than soaps. Of course, this leaves the BBC in a tricky position about where to place EastEnders since it would clash 4 days a week under the revised schedule with either Emmerdale or Coronation Street. Maybe the BBC will switch EastEnders and The One Show perhaps with EE at 7pm and The One Show at 7:30pm?- The Tory lies and deceit thread
Pretty shocking, yet expected really. I’m sure the police will find a reason why they cannot retrospectively investigate actual blackmailing.- Coronavirus Discussion
Like last Summer, it feels too soon to stop the mask mandate but hopefully the majority will exercise their common sense and keep wearing them on public transport and in confined spaces. We obviously know the political reasons for doing it, but I just hope the science does actually back it (probably not since it's not really been made public from what I can see).- The Apprentice • Series 16
She's basically spent 2 episodes getting ignored, so we don't even know if it's any real loss or not.- How long will Boris last as PM?
It would actually be hilarious if he couldn't outlast both Brown and May  Looking increasingly likely the 54 threshold has been reached. Surely Johnson won't survive? A vote of confidence in him would be a massive gift to all of the opposition parties. @1483562077478342656- How long will Boris last as PM?
From Sky's Joe Pike, the 54 letters threshold may have been reached. Based on what happened with Theresa May, I guess we'll know in the morning. @1483544562631020544- OPINION POLLS 2019-2024
It's encouraging to now see Labour consistently polling above 40% rather than it simply being a collapse of the Tories into 'don't knows' or apathy. If the Tory bleed continues, we may actually end up with a Labour leader being 20 points ahead. Who would've thought that Twitter meme could actually come true :o- The Tory lies and deceit thread

I agree that the licence fee is unsustainable but it's very difficult to see how an alternative model will work whilst maintaining BBC services that sets it apart from any other broadcaster. How would the subscription service work with the BBC as we know it? What would happen to local radio services and the online offerings for example? Would the BBC disappear from linear TV and radio and become essentially BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds only? Would its online offerings be largely behind the paywall like many other online news services now are in the UK?- The Future of the BBC - Licence Fee to end in 2027
The last solution would be concerning though, as it essentially leaves the BBC even more at the whim of the government of the day than it is under the licence fee model.- The Tory lies and deceit thread
I'm looking forward to seeing what the Sunday papers bring tomorrow. They better not disappoint us!- OPINION POLLS 2019-2024
If there was any justice, they would sink lower than under Theresa May's leadership (which I think was ~17%). Given the smaller parties aren't as strong, the low 20s would be more realistic. It will also be interesting to see if the 16 April parties result in a greater number of Con > Lab or Con > Lib Dem switchers rather than Con > Don't Know since it's the type of story that's more likely to erode their traditional support.- The Tory lies and deceit thread
It makes sense. Cummings or whoever is orchestrating this has clearly carefully planned the drip feed timing of each bombshell to cause maximum and sustained damage.- The Tory lies and deceit thread
