Neither me and (I think but I don’t want to speak for them!) or the rest of the lounge mods want to stop all political discussion, we all recognise the importance surrounding the politics of this! we just want it to be in the best possible place. now I’ll try get my intellectual hat on when I come back in here :lol:

also for clarity I have a politics degree so please don’t accuse me of shielding myself from news and politics, I read the news around this and discuss it with people in real life. I come to this forum when I want to discuss politics, I go to the lounge when I want a break from my degree and studies!

political discussion belongs in the politics forum. We’ve had to move brexit discussions to here for similar reasons! The lounge is meant to be a place of escapism, not hardcore political discussion and if members are feeling uncomfortable coming in here then it can be moved we all know there’s a particular reason this keeps going off course anyway and it keeps being fed 🙃

if there's anything the lounge mods can do to help make this a safer place, please let me know. this is a terrifying situation and i'm not sure all of the discussion here is completely appropriate (i find it a bit hard to read sometimes as well), what do you guys think about moving the nitty gritty parts of it to the politics forum?

Exactly. Atm it’s being reviewed every few weeks to see the impact it’s had on the numbers. Also not everything will go back to normal straight away bc that would just cause it to spike again, so it’ll take a few weeks/months to transition back into normality

I watched that speech and they very deliberately said that’s not what they meant....

this was AMAZING such an incredible concept and so well executed. I was so gripped
