  1. I am trying to remember why they left the field in the first place. Oh yeah Senegal protested their disallowed goal and Morocco's subsequent awarded penalty later. That felt a bit like home-cooking in the referee department so I can understand why Senegal was so upset at the time. Emotions in the moment were running high. Imagine if it had been the other way around, the home crowd+team reactions would have been even worse.

  4. I'd like to see Wales, Albania, Kosovo, and Ireland win these, but think it will be Wales, Poland, Turkey, and Denmark.
  5. At the end of the month, the final European spots in the World Cup will be decided. A reminder of the path layout: Path A Mar 26 SF | Bergamo, Italy | Italy vs. Northern Ireland Mar 26 SF | Cardiff, Wales | Wales vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina Mar 31 FINAL | Final venue at either Cardiff, Wales or Zenica, Bosnia. Winner of this path is placed into Group B at the World Cup, to play Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland. Path B Mar 26 SF | Valencia, Spain | Ukraine vs. Sweden Mar 26 SF | Warsaw, Poland | Poland vs. Albania Mar 31 FINAL | Final venue at either Valencia, Spain (if Ukraine wins) or Solna, Sweden. Winner of this path is placed into Group F at the World Cup, to play Netherlands, Japan, and Tunisia. Path C Mar 26 SF | Istanbul, Turkey | Turkey vs. Romania Mar 26 SF | Bratislava, Slovakia | Slovakia vs. Kosovo Mar 31 FINAL | Final venue at either Bratislava, Slovakia or Pristina, Kosovo. Winner of this path is placed into Group D at the World Cup, to play the United States, Paraguay, and Australia. Path D Mar 26 SF | Copenhagen, Denmark | Denmark vs. North Macedonia Mar 26 SF | Prague, Czech Republic | Czech Republic vs. Republic of Ireland Mar 31 FINAL | Final venue at either Prague, Czech Republic or Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Winner of this path is placed into Group A at the World Cup, to play Mexico, South Africa, and South Korea. Who do you want to win these matchups? Who do you think will win them? Will Italy fail again?
  6. It's embarrassing to be an American with you know who running the show, but it's even made worse with how he is handling the World Cup and I fear for Los Angeles 2028 as well. I won't be surprised if Iran stays home. If I was them, I certainly would.

  9. The U.S. women's curling team giving up three in the 10th end to be forced into an extra end and then making that shot to seal the deal for medal rounds. Sorry to the Great Britain team! I know they were heart-broken.

  12. It's funny that Viper wanted to copy my scores at one point. Seems nobody would ever want to these days, I've been on a horrible run.
  13. Curling is my favorite event to watch honestly. There's so much strategy and every throw of the stone has so much riding on it. The drama.
  14. I'll take Netherlands please.

  17. That final was absolute cinema. Much more thrilling than the 1-0 result had me thinking before I clicked the YouTube highlight package. Here's how each of the World Cup nations' FIFA Rankings changed pre to post tournament. This was going to be considered one of the best ways to check the status of the African teams going into the World Cup: Congo DR | 56 >> 48 | +8 Senegal | 19 >> 12 | +7 Algeria | 34 >> 28 | +6 Ivory Coast | 42 >> 37 | +5 Egypt | 35 >> 31 | +4 Morocco | 11 >> 8 | +3 South Africa | 61 >> 60 | +1 Tunisia | 41 >> 47 | -6 Cape Verde (67) and Ghana (72) were absent and their ranking was unchanged. The two biggest countries that failed to qualify had huge tournament performances and also had the best FIFA rank change. Nigeria | 38 >> 26 | +12 Cameroon | 57 >> 45 | +12

Oh that Cadillac team is interesting. It's like 'Team Castoffs' or something, both having a lot to prove, after playing second-fiddle at their last big seat.

  22. Definitely feels like an elite quarterfinals, with hopefully some great games. The 2023 quarterfinals had Angola, Guinea, Cape Verde, and Congo DR instead of Cameroon, Algeria, Senegal, and Morocco. So that's quite the swap-in of traditional powerhouses. Burkina Faso have been decent in the last decade+, with a 2nd place finish in the 2013 edition, 3rd in the 2017 edition, and 4th in 2021 tournament. They just can't seem to translate that into World Cup qualifying. They've been at the same level as like Gabon and Cape Verde for a bit now, with those two showing up bigger for the 2026 WC qualifying campaign.
  23. I don't know, the qualifying for this was a while ago now for Cape Verde and Ghana. They are different teams now and I think they'd be competitive had they made this tournament. Nigeria indeed has done well, as well as Cameroon. No shame in South Africa losing in one of the more competitive matchups in the Round of 16. Egypt nearly fumbled that away there.
