  3. Nice, I made the list. This is the section of the forum I generally only post in. There was a long period where I couldn't access the forum and kept getting a server error. Glad it seems to be sorted out now.
  4. Are we doing a score prediction game for the tournament?
  5. Iceland upsetting England will always be tops for me.

I agree with Hungary and Austria being darkhorse picks. I also don't know whether Scotland, Ukraine, or Turkey could go on runs in the knockout stages to maybe the quarterfinals or bomb out in the group stage. Either scenario are likely depending on which team shows up.

Sargent got alot better as the season went on. Glad to see he's getting another season at least.
  10. About time I win one of these weeks! :dancing:
  11. Saturday 2nd December Arsenal 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers Brentford 2-1 Luton Town Burnley 2-0 Sheffield United Nottingham Forest 1-1 Everton (17:30) Newcastle United 0-1 Manchester United (20:00) Sunday 3rd December AFC Bournemouth 1-3 Aston Villa (14:00) Chelsea 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion (14:00) Liverpool 3-0 Fulham (14:00) West Ham United 2-0 Crystal Palace (14:00) Manchester City 4-2 Tottenham Hotspur (16:30)
  12. Those Cameroon/Cape Verde matches are going to be juicy, considering the island nation has played very competitive matches in their rivalry. Consider Cape Verde's results since 2012: 2013 African Nations Cup Qualifiers | 2-0 in Cape Verde - 1-2 in Cameroon 2021 African Nations Cup Qualifiers | 0-0 in Cameroon - 3-1 in Cape Verde (granted Cameroon was host and only played these qualifiers to stay in form, but still) 2021 African Nations Cup Group Stage | 1-1
  13. Uzbekistan forcing the only group without a 6-point leader and Oman the only Pot 1 nation not leading their group.

Geez, didn't think I would say this a few years ago, but I'd take Germany or Belgium easily over the other four teams in Pot A. Good luck to ya if you get any of the others. Imagine any of those four (or any of the six really) paired with Denmark/Hungary, Netherlands/Croatia, Italy. One of the biggest 'groups of death' in history. Praying Iceland are placed in Path B as it's their only shot. Poor Estonia is going to get thumped.
  15. How the mighty have fallen, my goodness!
  16. Also, note that Comoros next two matches in March 2024 are also at home, against Mali and Chad. Both are winnable, so you could see them at the top of the group with 12 points before they'll need take their act on the road for the first time in June 2024.
  17. Libya's draw versus Cameroon, makes it a three-way tie at 4 points atop Group D!
  18. As expected Oman looking like the weakest of the group front-runners, losing 1-0 to Kyrgyzstan today. Uzbekistan coming back from 2-0 at halftime to get the draw versus Iran. They needed a result like this to assure they'll eventually move on to the next round with Iran. Bangladesh with a surprise draw versus Lebanon.
  19. Comoros leading the group is a surprise, but getting results against Ghana isn't. 2018 World Cup Qualifiers | Home 0-0 Away 0-2 2021 African Nations Cup | Group Stage 3-2 (knocking Ghana out of the tournament) 2026 World Cup Qualifiers | Home 1-0 Comoros and Madagascar have come a long way in recent years (and Cape Verde) to make African have a stronger set of island nations (Seychelles and Mauritius are still pretty bad)
  20. So South Africa went to Rwanda today and lost 2-0. This is actually what I kind of expected when LewisGT said Nigeria's matches versus South Africa would be vital. They still will be, but it's not like South Africa is a superpower in their own right. They're decent, but aren't exactly the kind of squad we expect to go to mid-table places like Rwanda and get the automatic 3 points. In fact with this results, this group is looking more like it's completely up for grabs. In those scenarios, I'd expect the cream will rise to the top by the end (Nigeria)

    San Marino's golden age!
  22. Mali  what are we doing?

Hmm, the stories of this race being a disaster may have been premature. One of the most entertaining races of the year.
  24. So close to a massive result for Madagascar (and in-turn group residents Mali) as Ghana need a 90+6 minute goal from Atletico Bilbao's Inaki Williams to secure a 1-0 victory at home versus the island nation. Madagascar had a strong first half and hit the crossbar in the second half.

And the Albanian contingent who live over here that I work with, will be no doubt celebrating (as well as the millions back at their homeland) -- with the draw in Moldova, Albania have clinched their spot. Who would thought that they'd win a group outright that had Poland and Czech Republic in it? Looks like that's what will occur.
