Yeah Equatorial Guinea could've contended for it, but losing at Tunisia won't help. It would depend on if they could win the return match. Apparently, the situation with Nsue has to do with him having played 26 competitive matches for Spain's U16 thru U21 squads and Equatorial Guinea never having filed the correct paperwork for transferring his nationality. He is banned for the next six months from any international competition, so that would wipe him out of the fall qualifiers.

Matches for 6/5 updated. Shock of the day is Grenada grabbing a point in Port of Spain. Would've expected something more like what Guatemala did to Dominica.

6/5 matches updated above. It should be noted that in Group H, Equatorial Guinea was found to have fielded an ineligible player in their first two matches against Namibia and Liberia, resulting in two 0-3 losses. So that tosses them right out of second place and with yesterday's loss to Tunisia, has them sitting at the bottom of the group with 0 points now. Namibia now has a big match at home vs. Tunisia on the 9th. A win in that, one of their tougher matches remaining, and they'll be sitting in good spot to at least make the playoffs.

Interesting to see if Montserrat, which used to be one of the worst sides in the world, can do something in Group D. In recent years they've gotten alot stronger (in comparison to past years, after bringing in talent from overseas in the mother country of UK), yet are still ranked 4th in this group by metrics. You could see them beating anyone there except Panama who will run away with the group. 2nd place in that group and a few others will be hotly contested.

Yeah I get it. It's like BEIn Sport for us Americans then. It should be a competitive tournament this go around with USA at it arguably it's most potential-laden (90% of our roster plays at top line European Leagues, that has NEVER been the case as we are lucky two have like 2-3 players), Mexico, Canada is still a threat, and of course most of South America.

I know its early days so, they're all technically ' big matches', but you can kind of see who will be battling for the qualification/playoffs from each group except for Group C. In that group, literally everyone is in it and plays everyone else tight, so every match is huge.

Iceland upsetting England will always be tops for me.

I agree with Hungary and Austria being darkhorse picks. I also don't know whether Scotland, Ukraine, or Turkey could go on runs in the knockout stages to maybe the quarterfinals or bomb out in the group stage. Either scenario are likely depending on which team shows up.
