  1. I think she's truly trying to ditch her pop girl image and be an urban girl which works for me but I do still wanna see her deliver a WFL type smash again. The snippets sound okay, not amazing, but their not very clear so i'll hold out. Come on Rih pull through, I didn't buy Golden Circle at Wembley for nothing
  2. They're all on holiday at the moment, I don't think they're worried about promo for the time being, but in 2/3 weeks I really hope they do get some good promo, it's important with this single as it's all about showcasing their vocals like never before

Definitely, plus with Black Magic and LMLY they need a good ballad this era and with one like SLS that such widespread appeal, I can see it going Gold if not Platinum with the right promo.

  3. SLS could push this to reach double plat by BRITs week. BRITs week will be tough competition but i'm confident if they win big (i.e British Single & British Group) the album could rocket back into top 3, but Adele's got that week on lock.
  4. They should really consider a worldwide push for this. Providing they do it well, they could push this in the US and get a "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" style hit, and then that would pave the way for a possible mini NA tour to promote single 4 (Grown would work well in the US market, I think OMG would be a bit too in your face). Australia's chart always confuses me since they're normally the first to jump on things and LMLY didn't exactly blow up over there, but Jason's always been popular in AUS and the girls are touring their this year so it would make sense? Could this be their first WW smash? Nice to see it stay at #12 and the Spotify rise, just needs some decent promo and the video now. Could push the album to double plat as well by BRITs week!
  5. UGH i'm so happy for the girls. They should do a mash up of the Jason version and Part 2 for the BRITs just to show off their vocals. They could open with the chorus in complete acapella, go into the Jason version then close it in complete acapella! This is assuming they get a BRITs performance ....

Anyone know the reason why this climbed so much?

#25 in the UK, and #193 on Spotify. Part II is also #177 on iTunes, craking the Top 200! :D

  6. They did do a video for it, though it was the same. It was being played constantly on Heart, and Radio 1 were ready to start spinning it a lot (mentioned it themselves) but after the live lounge drop, they didn't play it. The only thing that was missing is maybe some front of iTunes advertisement for it. Maybe use it in "hot songs" or in the 59p Christmas batch. But most of the people hearing the Christmas Mix on Heart were just buying the normal version anyway. They probably didn't even realise it was a Christmas version, as it's quite festive anyway, and the mix is very subtle in its changes.

Heart have updated their playlist today by the way - they've gotten rid of the Christmas Mix but replaced it with the normal version (the normal version has never been playlisted by them before).

Well at least that's something. I saw the Christmas video and it's basically identical. If only the live lounge drop didn't happen & yes i agree, something like the hot songs category or the 59p would have been amazing for the track. At least we can count on Heart giving it some promo

  7. Slightly pressed that this lost the number one spot to an Elvis album but nevertheless it's held up incredibly well in the Top 6 considering it's digital sales were kinda poor. Just proving that physical sales for albums at least aren't over. Has this already became their best-selling album in the UK?
  8. The girls missed a trick with the Christmas Mix. Had they released that start of December, performed an iconic Mean Girls-style routine on the X Factor Final (of course intertwined with Sax), and released a different Christmas video for it, it could have propelled it into the top 10. But maybe that seems like an awful lot of work just for a top 10 placing. Either way, it's held up a lot longer than I thought it would proving the UK really are here for LM this year.
  9. I hope i'm proved wrong but I just don't see this smashing in the UK. GFY made top 30, SOL missed the top 50 I believe, I just think the UK are more here for DEMI rather than Selena. Although Revival truly has revived Selena's career, her hold on the US market at the moment is astounding.
  10. Imagine if she released this when LMLYD was peaking :o . She would have been a big contender of the US number one for sure if she did that, given the fact they count TEA and SPS towards their album chart. I'm not worried at how little it's selling in the UK at the moment because Ellie has always been more of a long-runner with her albums so it's doing okay. The album is very long-winded though and incredibly same-y, Halcyon will always remain superior to her.
  11. I'm so pleasantly surprised with this album; she doesn't have the pipes of Ariana but this is definitely a solid pop effort! Same Old Love is gaining VERY well on US Radio and is stabilising in the Top 15 on iTunes over there so it's a good sign that this may be a good era for her singles. She should definitely consider releasing Survivors in the UK/EU as a Summer single. If she could get a Kygo remix of it as the official single it would be eaten up by almost every radio station as it's so tropical and fun. As for the US, I think Sober is her next best single for a January-March. Although I do wish she'd give Cologne some power.

So... We're in October and still we have no idea of any album name or release date for Rihanna's fan-titled eighth studio album 'R8'.

It's no lie that her management have seriously f**ked up in terms of marketing this release, and although Rihanna has managed to stay well and truly in the limelight despite not really releasing music until 2015 (apart from a few features), she still needs to be marketed she can't just waltz back in (as much as i'd like to admit it). So what should she do with R8? If she goes to release it now I can't help but think it's going to underperform, even though given BBHMM's numbers she could have easily opened with 200-300k+ for her Album if she just didn't f**k things up. So many things happened that made her music, the reason why she is where she is, seem like a backthought (think TIDAL, Puma etc..) and it's not that we don't want her doing great things bc slay Rih but... give us some more music!!

Here's what I would do... :cheer:

The Golden Q4 is fast approaching and with some songs teased, three formally released Rihanna has such uneven ground to release an album it's scary. We know she loves an X Factor feature but the X Factor isn't what it used to be, even with Rih on it. I think she should release Only If (For A Night) late this month, perform it both on the X Factor and an American TV show (Maybe Late Night or SNL) and release that as the fourth and final single from her new *EP* which will be released in November / December in time for Christmas which features: 45S, BBHMM, A02, Only If (For A Night), Higher, Kiss It Better. That way these songs have a home, a good home, and Fans can get somewhat of a Christmas present. Then...

Q1 2016 has - BRITs, Grammys, Superbowl, March Madness (throwback) amongst others which are excellent promo spots. I'd want her team to push for her to be the Superbowl 2016 act, this could be announced the same time as her EP, better promo for the both of them. Then, in January she'll start at announcement countdown for 'something new' and then this will be.... "Nothing's Promised" the lead single from Rihanna's 8th studio album (the one she's doing with DJ Mustard). The Claxon siren from that going off as the intro into Rihanna's Superbowl performance would be EPIC. Release the song on the Friday after the Superbowl, put the DAMN THING ON SPOTIFY thank GOD, iTunes, whatever streaming service counts and then let it ride the hype. Perform at the BRITs and the Grammy's and snatch a #1 right there. Then in April, we get the second single, something with a feature from a Pop Girl (possibly Tinashe - basically the younger version of her) or maybe something with Diplo / Calvin / Kygo I think she'd smash it. Along the same time as this we get the album announcement, ready for an album release in June. Album's released just in time for summer with a new summer smash for Rihanna, Third single in September to play on The X Factor and capitalise on Q4's promo spots, then just in time for Black Friday / Christmas she can release the deluxe edition, which features the six tracks from her EP as a Disc 2 with a BBHMM Rihmix featuring a hot rapper (Travis, Fetty, even Nicki) and a A02 acoustic.

Rihanna's management if you're reading this, get your shit together.

I know I went off on one a bit but what do you guys think???

  13. Fancy *.*

The other 2 are 10/10 moments but Fancy is 11/10 and one of the best songs of the last few years

I really did feel like Fancy was EVERYWHERE last summer. Currently my post played on iTunes also :yahoo:

    1. Iggy Azalea (feat. Charli XCX) - Fancy

Often considered to be the Australian's breakout hit, Fancy was Azalea's first ever entry on the US Hot 100, despite being the fourth single of her heavily-delayed debut collection The New Classic. In the UK, we had already seen glimpses of Iggy edging close to the top 10, breaking it with her third attempt 'Change Your Life (feat. T.I)'. Fancy peaked at number one the US, becoming the rappers first and only (thus far) number one single in the US and stayed there for seven weeks. In the UK, Fancy peaked at number five, becoming Azalea's highest charting single at the time (and Charli's second top five single, following her previous number one with Icona Pop's 'I Love It'). The song was first titled 'Leave It' leaking in late 2013, and was released in February 2014, selling over 9,000,000 copies worldwide becoming one of the best selling singles of all time. The song was also named the most streamed song in the US in 2014.

    Charts

    US: 1

    UK: 5

    AUS: 5

    2. Iggy Azalea (feat. Rita Ora) - Black Widow

The fifth single from The New Classic, Black Widow saw Iggy team up with another British songstress, this time being Rita Ora. The 'femme-fatale' anthem proved itself to be nothing of Fancy's 'shadow' and a success in it's own right, peaking at number 3 on the US Hot 100, and number 4 on the UK Singles Chart, her highest charting single to date. Much like Fancy, the song's video is partly responsible for it's success. The video sees Rita and Iggy become females in power, plotting revenge, styled much like a Quentin Tarantino movie. The song sold over 3,000,000 copies in the US alone, and was a commercial success across the world. It also marked the first time Ora reached the top three in the US.

    Charts:

    US: 3

    UK: 4

    AUS: 15

    3. Charli XCX (feat. Rita Ora) - Doing It

The third single from Charli's second studio collection 'Sucker', 'Doing It' was a UK only release in February of 2015, but still captured the attention of bloggers worldwide with it's funky, girl-power music video. Doing It was originally just an XCX track, but for it's single release it received the remix treatment and marked the first time the pair collaborated together. The song peaked at number eight in the UK, staying in the top 100 for 11 weeks before dropping out, becoming XCX's fourth top 10 hit and Ora's tenth, selling over 200,000 copies. Although the least successful of the three collaborations commercially, the limited release of Doing It meant it didn't receive full promotion stateside.

    Charts:

    US: N/A

    UK: 8

    AUS: 68

What's your favourite? All we need now is a Rita Ora (feat. Charli XCX & Iggy Azalea) for her second album and then the trinity have worked together :cheer:

  15. Does anyone else think this would serve POWER at the Eurovision? I really get Euro-anthem vibes from it (especially with the whole building bridges theme this year)

I loved the song on first listen, it's still playable now but i skip occasionally, I just think it's a cute bop

    Analysis

As the girl bands rise, Europop fails. Little Mix rise to the top spot to claim their first number one single with "Black Magic" helped by it's 90s inspired music video. The girls also see their co-penned track 'Pretty Girls' for Britney & Iggy reclaim it's peaking position at number 7, claiming two spots in the top 10 for them. What's more, their US counterpart 'Fifth Harmony' achieve a new peak with current single 'Worth It' at number 3, the highest charting position for the girl group. Elsewhere in the chart, big debuts from the US with Rachel Platten and The Weeknd's new songs getting some recognition finally, as well as the Hip Hop genre being represented at number 9 with A$AP Rocky's 'Better Things' (allbeit if it achieved it's position due to it's controversial Rita Ora diss). Britian's Got Talent Judge Alesha Dixon makes her chart debut in the top 10 with 'The Way We Are' before it's official release later in June, so watch the space this one. Other climbers include Major Lazer's worldwide hit 'Lean On' designed to tear up the clubs this summer and Rihanna's 'BBHMM' achieves a new peak of number 14. Like always, a new entry from Sia or Tove Lo is a given for me, but in this chart entries from both appear with Fire Meet Gasoline (Sia) and Talking Body (Tove Lo). A staggering 12 songs drop out of the top 40, and biggest fallers Conchita Wurst and Charles Hamilton look set to leave the chart next week.

    Analysis

This weeks chart is bombarded with Eurovision entries, from Sweden's winning entry at number 2 (also scoring this week's highest climber), to Armenia's entry down in number 18. Although not a Eurovision entry, Conchita Wurst's 'You Are Unstoppable' also vaults from 40 into the top 10 at number 9 as a result of this weeks Eurovision. However, none of the Europop 3-minute masterpieces were enough to take Taylor Swift's crown as Bad Blood rules the Hot top 40 for a second consecutive week. This week also sees entries from year-old songs, such as Love Me Harder and Chandelier that have gained tracks due to their recent spinning in the Gym (lmao). Elsewhere in the chart, Robin Thicke and Flo Rida re-enter with 'I Don't Like It, I Love It and we also see another album track from Meghan Trainor impact the chart. Stay tuned for next week's chart!
