Is there room for another UK girlband on the market?
The UK has always been notorious for having UK-centric Girl Groups. Although GA could have been successful globally if they spread their wings a bit farther, the reason they worked so well is because they were the people's choice and provided pure, camp pop tracks that always had a killer hook. Even on some of their worst songs (LHS in my opinion) they still generated enough interest to gain radio support and secure a charting place. Things turned sour for Neon Jungle when they signed their US record deal but didn't do anything with it. Little Mix, cracking start to their career with Wings and DNA, but this brand of 'pop' is too niche to work globally, and the decision to market them globally impacted their performance and credibility. Plus, they were marketed as the female One Direction lets be real. Although, maybe the new single may be the one to make a dent. It would be interesting to see a new girl group form, however it's doubtful. Currently, it's all about [insert DJ Here] [insert either Bebe Rexha, Jess Glynne, or another female] and house music. When that fades, maybe a group can be born.

R8: What's next?
I think a re-work is needed. I love Rih, but her team have really done her wrong here. The perfect album campaign would have started if they fought for the Superbowl performance in Feb, which she'd preview a new song (she'd need something more powerful than FourFive, possibly like the 'World Peace' demo that leaked but a lot bigger.) That would create such a buzz, release the song on iTunes that week and then the Grammy performance the following Sunday of the song; bigger promotion, more chance of number one no? It's like her team don't want her to get a No 1 this Era. :???: But none-the-less, FourFive has it's doubters but I do praise it for being so different to anything Rihanna's offered as a lead single, and I guess some people just don't like change. It performed well across the world and although it wasn't a number one it was certified Plat in US, and became the fastest song (probably not anymore due to Cheerleader and SYA) to reach 100m+ Streams on Spotify, so the GP were here for it. :dancing: I think releasing it on a Thursday was dumb af because it's not as if the song is club-ready for the weekend. Then things started to go downhill when Rih announced BBHMM to drop on a Thursday  also. Although probably more sensible than dropping FourFive on a Thursday, It sill hurt the songs performance. She had the power to dethrone UF from it's No 1 US iTunes position for like four consecutive days and outsell it 2:1 and debuted at #23 based on three days sales and airplay. If they did it all in one week it would have slayed so hard. And Then we had the iHeartRadio performance for further promo and i'm glad that got uploaded to YT but seriously where is the video? She confirmed it on Jimmy but just like PIU it seems to be lost. And the sloppy Spotify release of it at the same time as AO2, killed it. I don't even know where to begin with A02. If I was her I would have let BBHMM build a bit longer and release A02 a few weeks before 4th of July, and gain those chart point based on America loving America lmao. Let's be real the song isn't anything special, and it's cancelled release in the UK shows just how much it bombed as a single, and hopefully it remains a US-centered buzz single also. Meaning we've only had one official single, FourFive, and the era is saved (lmao). To change this, Rih needs to release these three songs plus maybe the one for the Dior campaign as an EP on iTunes at the end of this month and come back at the end of the year for the holy golden Q4 sales boost, lead single in September, album in November, and stick to what she knows. They need to release on Spotify at the same time as it goes on iTunes, get radio deals in the US for longer than a day, release Audio and Lyric videos on VEVO to get streaming and have a clear-cut success plan to make her songs blow up again. Otherwise the R8 Era is going to be known as the sloppy Rihanna era. I've finished my essay now lmao :P

Pretty Girls ft. Iggy Azalea
It's so refreshing to go onto this forum after looking on ATRL. I literally don't understand the hate for the video, it works as a cycle The song was announced. Everyone loved. Everyone heard. Everyone hates and says Britney is over because she worked with Iggy. The video was announced. Everyone loved. Everyone watched. Everyone hates and says Iggy's acting ruined everything? But as a member above posted, the critics speak otherwise which is the most important tbh. I think the video is great, it's inevitably camp and outrageous, but what would you expect from a song called 'Pretty Girls' and the video based on an 80s B-Movie Pretty Girls Are Easy? If anything it adds even more character to it, I saw the video and I've watched it almost five times today because I find it fun, all of the hate is unnecessary. Does anyone have predicted or current vevo view standings? Also nice to see it climb 15 spots on US iTunes and return to the top 5 in some countries

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd May 2015
I don't even think it entered Top 40 did it? On Kworb Archives in it's peaking week it reached number 72 on iTunes chart to peak at number 48 overall. Streaming must have saved that. Tragic how much it bombed in the UK, it's definitely the best song of the whole album

Pretty Girls ft. Iggy Azalea
Hopefully Brit and Iggy can reach around 70-80% of Wiz before The Voice performances take over the chart for a day or two. Also apparently she's getting the iTunes banner all day tomorrow (Tues 5th) so hopefully that could push promo further. Estimates so far: 1st Day Sales: 32k+ (Based on the 24,000 it's already sold in 18 hours) Radio Spins: 804 (A personal best for Britney, HIAM had 619 spins) Streams: Spotify N/A until tomorrow Streams: YT: 1m (Based on the 734k it's done in 18 hours) I'm aiming for Top 10 debut, but Top 15-20 would be nice also

New Release Schedule: Monday 4 May
*shakes head at the UK getting everything late* Probably smart though. Trouble is blowing up at the moment, maybe wait a couple weeks for it to die down before PG comes. But then new Iggy single in a few weeks (according to her twitter) so idk.

American Oxygen // Non-album Single
The release strategy is a mess. The surprise release element only really works for the lead single anyway, and tbh 45S was lucky to recieve the success it did. Although it's a good song, with streaming, sales, youtube, radio, to release on a THURSDAY is just stupid lmao. I don't see why they repeated again for BBHMM then again for AO. If they followed the format that Brit/Iggy have upcoming for PG (May 4th Release on iTunes/Spotify - May 11 Music Video - May 17 BBMA performance) she could have seen AO really smash. That being said, AO lacks something for me <_< it just doesn't seem to go anywhere
