the role of HH is not to make hits anymore it's to keep them up there for months and months once they've become hits it's slower than ever at responding to songs climbing the charts even songs like the new Lewis didn't get big support on week 1 and then on week 4 they are the cover of HH and moved to track #1

Skye Newman - Out Out
Really? I actually like her sorta broken voice, she's more Paloma Faith than Anne Marie to me

The Gallup Years- Top 10 sales- 1990
Yay Killer <3 too bad Seal wasnt credited Also Love Ghetto Heaven Pretty good top 10 overall, only song I don't care is Bizz Nizz and even UB40's cover is decent funnily I was more obsessed with Heart than Madonna at this point. I remember buying the album Brigade and then going and buying the old Bad Animals album, of which I only got the Alone 7" single a few years back and then also buying some other 80s albums of theirs cos I liked a lot of oldies like These Dreams, What about love or Never

A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF ICONIC PHYSICAL-ERA NON-TOP 40 BANGERS: 2025 VERSION
Every Tori Amos song including all her b-sides :) I'd say it's an impossible task and too personal, all the ones you listed for Rem, Manics, The Cure, none are it...

The Gallup Years- Top 10 sales- 1990
Two great newbies! i was obsessed with the Heart song, one of my songs of the year. the album isgreat too. up there with Alone. Their last big era sadly. I bought the Paula album in 89 on the back of Straight up, all the singles were amazing. This one is ok, catchy but not my super favourite.

didn't realise Golden was doing so well on YT, but strange Bieber is not even top 20 on YT cos many times artists are top 20 and even #1 with the lyric video ie. MK-Dior doesn't have an official video that I know of just the lyric one

Maybe it will finally be the first hit of Summer 2025! Even the New York Times had an article about this year being like the first time ever without even 1 single summer hit

Pitchfork’s belated review of Tori Amos-Boys for Pele
I forgot how much I love Hey Jupiter. The origin of the song is apparently John Lennon's ghost appearing to Tori :) She doesn't name names here but she's referring to Lennon and Yoko Ono, Tori has described her other times as "rich and not nice". "well, i was really in a bind because, um, i was doing some bad things. i was in a love triangle with these, uhh.., i don't know if they were real men now...i'm not...i'm confused about the whole thing! let's see , i was lying in bed...um, strange things happened to you on tour. like strange englishman start sitting at the end of your bed, apparitions of dead guys . and they start singing songs to you. and this guy was definitely dead, and he was definitely singing to me. um, so i'm confused about the copyright laws. i'm not sure if i need to call his ex-wife and give him part of the song or not. but, why should i do that! she's rich...she's not nice. and so, anyway, i kept the copyright, the guys forgot who i was, and the song's mine." [answer to question of the circumstances surrounding the writing of Hey Jupiter, VH1 Storytellers] The remix version of the song was called the Dakota version, with Dakota being the building in NY where Lennon was living and were he was killed. I love that remix, especially the new bridge at the end, the one that goes: I go from day to day I know where the cups are I know where the car is parked I know, he isn't you

yay for Vogue! But that was extremely close with Snap!!! also love Black Velvet and Alannah Myles had a couple of other great tracks too I was more of a Stone Roses than a Happy Mondays fan but Step on is a good one. Very catchy and ended up liking it a lot despite kinda hating Shawn Ryder. agree Kingston Town is a decent cover. Always loved the fact that the album gave 2 different top 10s in the UK (Homely girl, Kingston town) and the US (The way you do the things you do, Here I am), and the US hits flopped in the UK. Guess that's a record. Jason had already lost me as a fan so no surprised he underperformed there. I bought both Kylie and Jason debuts but then I only bought Kylie's 2nd but passed on Jason's.

Pitchfork’s belated review of Tori Amos-Boys for Pele
I think she really pivoted from mainstream pop to alt indie with Pele and remained there since. it's easily my least fav out of her 5 first albums but if you ask the hardcore fans they all would prob say it's their fav. I'm also more of a Hotel fan. Pele is like a revenge album, like kill all men, guess very cathartic for Tori herself and for many of the fans; Hotel is more like a sad album, more polished, more about vulnerability and grief

Pitchfork’s belated review of Tori Amos-Boys for Pele
I actually love Marianne, might even be my @1 in the album, lyrics were improvised on the fly as they recorded it hence the opening line, tuna rubber little blubber in my igloo, which i adore but makes little sense :)
