If it were Ocean Eyes... I could understand, but Lovely? I just went and checked but I find Lovely so unmemorable maybe it's cos it has Khalid, who is not the most exciting act ever

love Billie and Birds of a feather is a great song but nearly 1 year in the upper Spotify and currently #3 is too much ☠️ will be interesting to see what happens with the Ordinary song and if it can avoid ACR the song is down a lot this week cos of the so many days of holidays, but that means it will easily increase next week as it's a regular tracking week with no holidays

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
Roxette had great ballads but also many good upbeat numbers I think they got the balance right This week Debbie Gibson peaked at #14 with the great single Electric Youth, title track from her 2nd album De la Soul was also peaking at #22 with the classic Me, Myself & I I noticed Swing Out Sister's comeback didn't set the world on fire and the lead single from album 2 You on My Mind peaked at #28 only, despite being pretty great, love them and their sophisticated jazz pop.

The problem is that on tiktok, people use the same 3 songs for months and months, they don't move on yesterday I took the underground and was surrounded by teenagers scrolling down tiktok with the volume so high, I could hear everything and I heard Gracie Abrams-That's so True like 5 times in 3 minutes and I didn't hear any song from 2025, just old songs

Same. When brand new tracks like Azizam can barely pass 200K are easily beaten even by 50% by old songs like Thats so true, Sailor song, Birds of a feather than came out months and months ago

a bit shocked (but maybe we shouldn't) that SAW gave priority to Kylie's single going to #1 vs. a charity record where raising money was a pressing issue I assume?

Your favourite songs performed by a minor(s)
Didn't realise Billie Eilish was so young when she started, also The Lorde!!!! when I started following music as a kid in the late 80s there was this battle of the teens between Tiffany and Debbie Gibson Debbie Gibson released her debut Out of the Blue when she was 16, writing all her songs solo and playing piano and even producing it I think. She managed 2 US #1s (Foolish beat and Lost in your eyes) Tiffany was also 16 when she grabbed 2 US #1s including the classic I Think we're alone now.

Good for Kylie, really shows how popular she was that she did >100K surprised ABBA allowed their song to be sampled, thought they were very selective, but maybe not back then. Edelweiss is terrible to say the least.

The Official Charts website is horrid
at least now they fixed the error of the discographies of Nelly/Nelly Furtado, who were combined for a long time :) but if you check any discography, there's always errors and omissions I just checked Nelly Furtado and for instance they have Give it to me credited solely to Justin Timberlake and Morning after dark is missing. They also don't credit Nelly Furtado on James Morrison's Broken Strings, but not sure, maybe she wasn't officially credited by the occ?

I actually don't like anything from Spice Girls, I didn't mind Wannabe back there as a cultural thing, like Gangnam Style or Aserejé or La Macarena. But that's it. I wouldn't listen to it now or anything by them.
