oh wow what a close top 3, could have ben anyone Texas is the best of the newbies, classic debut single, loved it back then and still sounds great Jason got one of SAW's best singles ever, so no surprises it did so well, for some reason I bought the album :) the S'Express one just ok, not as good as their debut the Bananarama single is kinda silly but it was for a good cause, thought the video was funny the Gloria Estefan one is not a favourite, I'd rather her upbeat songs that her ballads, which were all a snoozefest.

oh love love love Sam Brown-Stop, was totally obsessed with this song back then and is one of my fav songs of the 80s. Too bad she never managed to have another top 10, great vocals I was one of the many that didn't have bad on CD so for me Leave me Alone was a brand new single. Was a great single too the Rick Astley single really is weak, a miracle it went top 10, not sure if deserved that just remembered that my fav bad at the time, All About Eve, had also released a cover of She moves thru the fair, as part of their debut album, was never a single, but was one of the album highlights, accappella, more folkish and faithful to the original and very much preferred that version to Simple Minds

And that's with him doing US promo for the song already and being on late night shows etc at least Sleep Token held up better in the US, did 3-9-13...
