The BRIT Awards 2022
I was actually happy with all the winners yesterday, especially Adele, Little Simz and Wolf Alice (who I didn't expect to win).

Adele - 30
I'd rather she hadn't performed I Drink Win tbh. But she dominated the night which was good to see. Just nice to see her again after a while.

Adele - 30
If you're gonna be a troll, at least be a good one. Embarrassing.

Adele - 30
Just scrolling back, this is a stupid comment. These sales are still good for Adele. For the average artist, they'd be remarkable. No one at Sony would have expected much better with streaming vs sales being what they are in the current climate. Did anyone actually think she'd hit 25's opening few weeks? It's impossible in this day and age. Her first two months of sales have been remarkable when you look at what sales are like these days.

Radio 1 to play edited version of Fairytale of New York
What's always amazed me about the FONY debate every year are the amount of mostly straight people claiming that removing that word ruins their favourite Christmas song, when it is literally just one word. Taking out that word and replacing it with haggared makes no difference whatsoever to the song, musically and sonically. Gammons just loved having the chance to shout out a slur every year and get away with it.

Now! That's What I Call Music | The Thread pt 5
Good to see the cover getting teased.

Now! That's What I Call Music | The Thread pt 5
Shouldn't we be getting the cover for Now 107 soon?

Now! That's What I Call Music | The Thread pt 5
Break Up Song and This City could easily both have been on Now 105 had it been released in April, they had both charted before April 3rd. Hadji too often you can't separate your own subjective Now beliefs from actual reality.

Yes.

Now! That's What I Call Music | The Thread pt 5
Benee and Little Mix would have definitely been on Now 105 had it been released in April. Like has already been said, only Matt Lucas is a late addition. My version arrived today, which was a surprise as it was expected on Monday.

Now! That's What I Call Music | The Thread pt 5
I think it has coincided with the original release date. The tracklisting would have probably been exactly the same had it come out a month ago.

Streaming Services
Spotify all the way.

Now That's What I Call Music! | The Thread 4.0
That doesn't necessarily make it better though. You should judge it by the quality of the music.

Now That's What I Call Music! | The Thread 4.0
I love Now 103's tracklisting. Even without the throwbacks, it's 44 tracks long which is more than substantial. Plus all the inclusions make sense, including the likes of Lighthouse Family who get on basically by having a big(ish) album. Am a bit surprised Fashion Week is on and very surprised So Am I missed out. But other than that, it's what I expected. Also, love that Billie's now been included after missing out with Bury A Friend.

Unpopular Opinions
Unpopular opinion regarding Madonna? Everything from Confessions (and the album itself) is overrated.

Now That's What I Call Music! | The Thread 4.0
Hadji, you're hardly one to comment on people complaining about Nows  No one's denying that urban music is very popular, but it's all about target market. Generally speaking, a lot of urban music fans are not going to be buying a Now CD. Infact, they won't by buying any CD, as urban is significantly more successful on streaming platforms than sales. CD sales are going to be more popular with slightly older, more traditional buyers, and stereo typically speaking, urban music is less likely to appeal to them. That's why I think only the biggest urban songs will be included from here on out. For Now fanatics who are mainly concerned about as many charting hits as possible featuring, it's going to be somewhat frustrating losing multiple Top 40 hits, but fanatics don't make up the majority of the buying market. Of course I'm not literally suggesting that NowMusic are going to remove or include songs based on people leaving comments on Facebook, but they're no fools. They know who the Nows are most likely to appeal to these days, and are catering towards them. The Nows have to adapt and ever evolve to still compete in the current music climate, so it's pointless referring back to past Nows.

Now That's What I Call Music! | The Thread 4.0
They almost certainly will. If you look at the user comments for Now 101 and Now 99, it was the inclusion of so many urban songs that pissed a lot of casual buyers off. The more MOR approach of Now 102 is here to stay I reckon. Only huge urban songs, like Vossi Bop, will still make it (and even that's not a certainty). I personally don't mind the whole bonus tracks inclusion thing. 40 songs is still enough modern songs to not feel short changed.

Mabel - Mad Love
This is a bop. I love it.

Herve Pagez & Diplo feat. Charli XCX - Spicy
This is the guiltiest of guilty pleasures for me. I mean, yeah it's objectively awful, but it makes me laugh.

Lead single rank
My rate (based on the song, not the video) 1. Shake It Off 2. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together 3. Look What You Made Me Do (underrated) 4. Love Story 5. Mine 6. Tim McGraw 7. ME! The Top 3 are all great. Me is the only one that I strongly dislike. It is *such* a regression for her.

MARINA ‘LOVE + FEAR’
Honestly, I think people are taking the lyrical "problem" too far. The lyrics on this are no worse than some of the pretentious lyrics on Froot (Savages *shudders*). Also, I doubt she literally believes all people suffering depression should just "enjoy their problems" - to me it's clearly her own personal advice to herself in dealing with her own adversities. I really don't see the need to be offended by that. Ultimately, she doesn't owe it to anyone listening to be careful of their feelings - I'm sorry, but it's not on her how people interpret her lyrics. She can only relate her own truth and experiences, not edit the meaning to be more "responsible". As for the album itself, I'm liking it more and more. Hard to say where I'd rank it amongst her others, as I like them all to varying degrees. But I feel I'll end up placing it higher than Electra Heart at the very least.

MARINA ‘LOVE + FEAR’
At 3 in the first chart update with 5.4k sales. Definitely safe for a Top 10 peak.

Me! (feat. Brendon Urie) • 1st Single
I find Me so disappointing, which is sad as I had a lot of expectations. It's not quite deserving of the mauling it's getting elsewhere (have Popjustice ever hated something to this degree?) but it's just so...basic. Fingers crossed the rest of the campaign is better.

MARINA ‘LOVE + FEAR’
I really like a lot of the tracks on the Fear side, but I agree that they don't sound all that different from the Love tracks. Ultimately, I don't feel she needed to separate them. Good album all the same.

MARINA ‘LOVE + FEAR’
This is all so so good.
