  1. Why not? She's never going to have huge mainstream success (sadly) so she might as well release her music the way she wants, unconventional as it may be.
  2. NMF isn't normally much of an indicator of a successful song. It's often front loaded.
  3. Spotify were a mess with Baby - lowish placing on Hot Hits leading up to its 15 peak and only moving it up significantly once it was already on the way out. And then there's Mama, which was only on Hot Hits when the album came out and then completely removed once it was pushed as a single. All a big mess.
  4. I'm probably alone on this but I can't stop listening to Orange Trees. It's just so laidback and fun. Nothing groundbreaking, but it works.
  5. I'm surprised by the lukewarm reactions here to Orange Trees and Superstar. I think both are stronger than HH.
  6. Mama has done worse than I expected, but it's no indication of how they'll do in the future imo. It just shows this campaign is beyond done now.
  7. Echo by Leona was in no way a flop. It didn't get anywhere near to the level of Spirit granted, but it did 600k + in total and went number 1 on huge opening sales. As others have said, Emeli did a Duffy with her second album.
  8. Shocked for Ava but not disappointed. Such a weak, dated track.

Um, Primadonna called, it wants it's backing track back. Seriously, this sounds like so many songs mashed into a boring, forgettable track. I expected better.
  10. Story of Olly's life these days.
  11. The anti-Marina trolls on here always make flops jokes about Marina. It's all they have, bless.
  12. Wow, what a dog turd of a video that turned out to be.
  13. I certainly wouldn't say mainly. Only really Cardi B I Like It, Maroon 5 Girls Like Us, and then possibly a couple of others like Dennis Lloyd Nevermind and Selena Gomez Back To You could've made it onto Now 100 had it been two discs of current hits. But even then, it wouldn't have been a certainty. All Nows have a few tracks that could've been on the previous Now, even Now 100 had The Middle and Meant To Be which could easily have been on Now 99. The fact is, the majority of songs on Now 101 impacted after Now 100. The songs that missed out on Now 100 had it been two discs of current hits ultimately never made it onto a Now. Tracks like EO German, Guetta/Sean Paul/Becky G Mad Love, Shakka/AlunaGeorge Man Down, Rita Ora Girls, The Weeknd Call Out My Name, Paloma Faith MYOKOM, ASAP Rocky Praise The Lord, Yxng Bane Vroom, AJ Tracey Butterflies etc. plus loads of other flop songs that didn't make it into the Top 40 around the time.
  14. Lost Without You needs to die now.
  15. There's no evidence they're snubbing songs, or at least not as much as you seem to think. If it's a normal, 2 disc Now, there's almost always a reason why a song that has been left off gets left off, be it licensing rights, record company issues, artist permission etc. It is never a case of Jenny Fisher and co putting their personal biases in affect to snub certain artists and tracks. They're making a compilation to appeal to the mainstream as a whole, not based on their own musical tastes. Now 100, granted, was a slight exception as they only had one disc of current songs to play with, so they had to cut down more than they normally would. Freaky Friday almost certainly would have appeared on Now 100 had it been two discs of current songs, but with a 22 track limit for modern songs, they were never going to waste time with a track that needed to be heavily edited and censored, which they themselves alluded too in that interview prior to Now 100 coming out.
  16. LOVE that cover. Really loving the new style we've had since Now 101.
  17. There are WAY worse artists than Ariana Grande that could be dominating the charts right now, so I'm happy. Good to see a proper popstar doing so well.
  18. Baby was her first release as just Marina (or MARINA, whatever). All her back catalogue has now been renamed under MARINA on Spotify (which she said on Twitter she was pissed off about as she only wanted that for her new material), so it's like the Diamonds never existed. Ultimately it doesn't matter, but I loved the Diamonds tag and don't think she should have dropped it. But then, it's only her fanbase that are going to be truly interested in this project and they'll support it whatever she's called, so again, it doesn't matter.
  19. I love the visuals of the video. She is a stunningly beautiful woman.
  20. Like this a lot, but I'm still not liking the names sans The Diamonds.
  21. Zeze? Really?
  22. Marina's ballads always slay, so I'm here for this.
  23. How To Be A Heartbreaker feels so much more iconic now than when it first came out. It's kind of bizarre to think it flopped at the time, looking back now it feels like a Top 20.
  24. I'm not necessarily denying that. I'm not even a huge LM fan, it's just there's always one or two (one in particular) posters who jump on any chance to cancel them. They're underperforming somewhat in comparison to their previous album but they're not outright flopping. Woman Like Me and LM5 were still successful, so their decline is not as steep or terminal as some are suggesting.
  25. Certain people seem to get a real kick out of the idea of Little Mix flopping.
