iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 18th January 2019
I think if Ariana wasn't as huge as she's been this past year, there wouldn't be as much of a backlash against her on pop forums. Now that's she's almost in the Drake territory of everything she releases being huge, the hype is going to naturally seem disproportionate to the quality, and the idea of her being massively overrated will be thrown around frequently. Don't get me wrong, I get kinda where people are coming from, in that nothing she's released this past few months has matched the quality of No Tears Left To Cry, but I think a lot of the comments slating her recent output are pretty overblown and exaggerated, and I feel that wouldn't be the case if she wasn't so commercially massive right now.

Clearly loads of people do, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as huge otherwise.

Westlife slowly climbing *shudder*. I have to say, it's doing a lot better than I thought.

You say every song/band you dislike is "the worst song/band in the last 20 years".

Shotgun is kinda like the ultimate troll song right now. It'll probably stay in the Top 40 for months.

HATECHART 2018 | RESULTS
2002 is extremely disappointing considering how exciting a prospect Anne-Marie once was, but I don't think it would have quite the level of hatred on here if it wasn't linked to Sheeran. FEFE would deserve to be number 1 even if 6ix9ine wasn't a disgusting human being, the track is just dreadful on an unholy level.

Top of the Pops - Christmas 2018
I'm not a massive fan of the Christmas songs clogging the chart, but the fact you think the general public care enough either way is laughable.

Worst Number 1 of the Year 2018
Freaky Friday. And it's not even close.

Ranking of the 2018 UK Albums Chart number ones
A lot of good no.1's this year. No Tourists just nabs it for me.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 14th December 2018
It is annoying that literally everything else is working for Baby - Radio support, YouTube views, itunes chart, even Apple streaming to a lesser extent - yet it just can't break through on Spotify.

Has the Xmas number 1 lost its meaning?
It's far better now than when X-Factor had the monopoly on it.

The Mama hot hits thing is so stupid, seeing as there's been no confirmation it's even going to be a single.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 7th December 2018
Based on their past efforts, I never thought I'd like a collaboration between Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson as much as I do. The performance was very good.

I still, perhaps naively, think she'll end up being big. I want her too breakthrough so much.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. Marina's solo stuff pre-Froot all made it onto the Radio 1 playlist, including total flops like Power and Control. I don't see why they'd have any agenda against her, especially as she guested on the chart show just a few weeks ago. I think the song is less instantly identifiable as a Clean Bandit track compared to the likes of Solo, which is probably why it took longer to make the playlist. But hopefully it all pays off in the end. I still feel it'll go Top 15 at the very least.

It really isn't though. This anti-Midas Marina theory has no basis. Whilst she certainly hasn't had anywhere near the success she should have, she certainly isn't the flop artist of the century. I mean, she does have a no.1 album which is nothing to be sniffed. None of the songs on Froot charted, but then none of them were pushed as actual singles, so I think this idea of her being the anti-Christ of chart success has been massively overblown.

Baby is not underperforming because of Marina, that's just nonsense. Clean Bandit are big enough names to get hits despite who features on their tracks. Ina Wroldsten is hardly a huge name, yet it didn't stop Breathe with Jax Jones being huge. Baby hasn't fully connected yet, but I do feel its lack of visibility on Spotify in comparison to their previous hits is a big part of the problem. The fact it's doing so well on Airplay and iTunes suggests this. Either way, I still feel it's too early to write it off. Oh and Mama would be a bad choice for the next single, so I really hope they don't go with that.

How long have you been following the charts
I remember in the mid 90s following the chart every week on Teletext (it was page 565 - I still remember) and then my mind was blown when I discovered Mark Goodier's Top 40 show on Radio 1, which must have been early 1998. No matter how crap it felt to have to go back to school the next day, listening to that show on a Sunday evening was a weekend highlight. So yeah, over 20 years for me.

Clean Bandit feat. Marina & Luis Fonsi ‘Baby’
Mama is just Rockabye redux, I really hope it's not the next single.

The popularity the likes of 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion have is genuienly depressing.

Baby is not underperforming because of any kind of industry agenda against Marina, that justs reeks of fandom conspiracy theory. And the fact she's not hugely famous with the general public doesn't matter either. Ina Wroldsten is less famous with the wider public than Marina, yet Breathe with Jax Jones was still a big hit. As long as the main artist is well known, it doesn't matter too much about the featured artist. The track is underpeforming at the moment because of its lack of visibilty on Spotify and to a lesser extent the fact that everyone's kind of over the Latin vibe. Having said that, I still wouldn't right it off just yet. If it goes A List on Radio 1, that'll make a significant difference. It just needs to increase its streaming.

Clean Bandit - What Is Love?
1. Symphony 11/10 2. Rockabye 10/10 3. Baby (could honestly see this overtaking Rockabye soon) 10/10 4. I Miss You (underrated) 9/10 5. Solo (overrated) 7.5/10 6. Tears (never liked this much) 6/10

Clean Bandit feat. Marina & Luis Fonsi ‘Baby’
I think it's great, but then I also loved I Miss You so I tend to prefer their more understated stuff. It's certainly an improvement on Solo. And it clearly sounds like Clean Bandit. I don't think Luis Fonsi is needed though, despite the latin vibe.
