Ricky Martin - "Livin' La Vida Loca" was mentioned - part sung, in fact - in Sisqo "Thong Song".

And Little Mix sampled Thong Song in their song Love A Girl Right, including the sung part "livin' la vida loca"!

Easily 2009 for me - an overabundance of autotuned urban-dance-pop and RedOne productions which have aged like milk, lol. It doesn't help that 2009 wasn't a very good year in my personal life either, meaning the songs are often made worse by the memories I associate with them.
  4. I went for 2003. As others have mentioned, this was when I started following the charts properly. My memories of 2000-2001 are a bit hazy music-wise as I didn't yet have a radio in my bedroom, but 2002 changed that!

I think 2002-2006 was the peak period of the decade for me, probably because music from that time has the strongest memories attached to it. For the later part of the decade I think 2008 was a stand-out.
