  1. I listened to Radio 1's 'Divide' listening party yesterday and I did think it was 'average'!
  2. I'm 25 and I use all 3, but I voted for downloads as my favourite. I use streaming almost every day but I use the free version as I prefer to download things (legally!) so I can have a permanent copy of them on my laptop and iPod. If I particularly like an artist I'll happily spend £10 on a CD album, but for artists I'm not as big a fan of I might download their albums when the price comes down to £4.99 or whatever.
  3. I've been looking at the '2 for £10' compilations on HMV's website and I've just ordered Top Of The Pops 1995-2000 and TOTP 2000-2006!
  4. Download: Dua Lipa - Be The One Streaming: Rag 'n' Bone Man - Human (album)
  5. I also voted 300-350k. If it was Q4 I would've voted 400k+ though!
  6. I voted for the download era. I think I started following the charts in 2003, so I don't have a long memory of the physical era. But one memory that stands out is Jamelia's 'Superstar' climbing the chart! I remember finding it a novelty to see a single going up instead of down.

We've had a couple of threads in recent months about what makes a 'hit single', and I was wondering what things make people consider an album to be a 'hit'. Is 'silver' (60k) seen as a flop for albums that have been out for a while? I know album sales are low these days, but it does seem quite a low number to be considered worthy of a certification! 'Gold' (100k) doesn't seem like much of a 'hit' to me either. I think peak chart position has more meaning for albums than for singles, but longevity like that of Adele and Ed Sheeran's albums is more important than peak position.
  8. Sad to see that Move has sold less than Hair!
  9. 05 Cannonball 08 Wings 08 DNA 05 Change Your Life 06 How Ya Doin' (feat. Missy Elliott) 11 Move 06 Little Me 04 Word Up! 09 Salute 08 Black Magic 07 Love Me Like You 06 Secret Love Song (feat. Jason Derulo) 06 Hair (feat. Sean Paul) 08 Shout Out To My Ex 08 Touch
  10. Touch and Oops are pretty much a double A side!
  11. If this is confirmed I'll be pleased, but like others have said, I wonder what they'll do once streams make up 85% of the singles chart again? Perhaps they will stop increasing the ratio when downloads become as irrelevant as physical singles!
  12. 1. Black Magic 2. Lead single from Greatest Hits 3. Move 4. Wings 5. Shout Out To My Ex 6. Love Me Like You 7. DNA 8. Secret Love Song feat. Jason Derulo 9. Salute 10. Touch 11. Hair feat. 13. My parents have ordered Busted's album as my Christmas present. I will download Craig David's Children In Need single and stream the rest of his latest album!
  14. Had my CD delivered by Amazon this morning and I've listened to the full album once. I think it's better than Get Weird (especially in terms of the production) and possibly DNA too. I found the second half of the album more enjoyable than the first half.
  15. 59p song purchased: KDA feat. Tinashe - Just Say Streaming: Olly Murs - 24 Hrs
  16. Downloaded album: OneRepublic - Oh My My (standard edition £5.99 on iTunes) I think I'll be streaming Robbie Williams' new album.

    Does Mutya Keisha Siobhan count?
  18. They need to get their facts right: "Rihanna's 'Umbrella' hung on at number one for eight weeks in 2008" - oh dear!
  19. Sorry, I meant 11th extra week due to streaming!
  20. Drake could gain his 11th week tomorrow!
  21. Reminds me of 'In The Night' by The Weeknd.
  22. I think Little Mix - Salute peaked just after being performed on BGT.
  23. In order for the chart to be less stale, I think it would be a good idea to start with the 100:1 ratio when a song is first released, then reduce (or should that be increase?) the ratio after it's been in the top 40 for a certain number of weeks. At least we might get rid of the Justin Bieber-type songs faster then! :P
  24. iTunes compilation album: "Uplifting Songs".
  25. Over the last couple of years, I have bought several albums I probably wouldn't have bought if I hadn't been able to listen to them via streaming first. Streaming has also allowed me to rediscover songs I had forgotten about, and I often end up buying these songs. So I think I'm buying more music now than before I began using streaming. I would probably be buying less music if I had a paid streaming subscription, but I have stuck with Spotify Free as I don't spend £10 a month on music.
