  1. The hype around Ava reminds me of how everyone was about Eva Simons like 8 years ago - hopefully Ava can go one better than Eva and get huge.
  2. Is that based on Bassetts or Maynards or something
  3. V late but floored to see Godspeed on this list *.* My favourite of theirs is "East Hastings" but their whole discography is solid.
  4. It's not up to the label, it's up to Spotify
  5. It's not actually that bad tbf (make the vocals less shite and you've got a pretty solid track)
  6. Wow, Kylie at #7 on iTunes? Looks like she's a shoe in for Christmas #1 now, probably will go top 5 this week, and with the new XXXTENTACION remix that'll make it one of the biggest songs of the year !!!111!
  7. Or maybe Spotify just promote the music that they think sounds the most marketable to the public that'll get the most streams... hence Lauv and Billie Eilish are getting promoted... because they make ACCESSIBLE pop music. It's not that deep :P
  8. Loving that pop is having a big resurgence in the charts right now, hope it lasts.
  9. Swear you said it was shit when it came out
  10. I wouldn't say she's 'come out of nowhere'. She's been pretty popular since about November last year - that was the point in which a lot of people started becoming aware of her. Her track "Six Feet Under" has been around for god knows how long now as well, I don't think she's an industry plant.
  11. All my friends are absolutely mad for him, but jesus christ "Lighting Matches" is probably up there with the worst albums of the year for me, dull uninspired shite. His voice sounds unbearable within 5 minutes as well.

Yes at this, "Double Negative" is a brilliant album
  13. And there was me thinking it was a pretty solid performance...

What a huge chart hit  Counting only songs that hit the top 40, I'd say... 1. Billie Eilish "when the party's over" 2. Childish Gambino "This Is America" 3. Sigrid "Strangers" 4. George Ezra "Hold My Girl" 5. Dynoro & Gigi D'Agostino "In My Mind" -------- 6. Au/Ra & CamelPhat "Panic Room" 7. Dave "Funky Friday" (feat. Fredo) 8. Ava Max "Sweet But Psycho" 9. Portugal. The Man "Feel It Still" 10. Charli XCX "1999" (feat. Troye Sivan) Probably missed a fair few.

Pickford Butland Pope Trippier Maguire Rose Walker Stones Shaw Keane Gomez Alexander-Arnold Dier Alli Barkley Henderson Lingard Cook Loftus-Cheek Foden Sterling Sancho Kane Rashford Wilson Solid squad for the Eyros off the top of my head - have definitely missed a few young ones that'll probably be pushing through in two years time though.
  16. The public aren't robots - the reason "thank u, next" is so popular is because it's a GOOD POP SONG. It did 700k in a day without playlists, so no, it's not all about playlisting. You seem to think that whatever gets the most promotion is the most popular... that's not the case. If a 12 minute long ambient jazz song was #1 on Hot Hits, it wouldn't get a lot of plays... because it's not accessible enough. The public will only play what they think is good in large numbers - they don't just blindly consume anything that Spotify give to hem.
  17. "Strip" is... horrendous to say the least. Who on earth thought it was a good idea?
  18. "Lifetime" is fantastic... thought I'd replace it with another highlight from the album this week though, "Economy of Freedom" brings something totally different to the table and I'm loving it. "Cocoa Sugar" is wonderful, not at all sure why it wasn't included on the album, sounds like it'd have fitted in perfectly. "My Girls" seemed to come from a golden age for quality indie... Animal Collective's newer stuff just doesn't cut it for me. Thanks for the comment :D
  19. 1. LCD Soundsystem "Oh Baby" 2. Talking Heads "Once In A Lifetime" 3. The Flaming Lips "Do You Realize?" 4. JPEGMAFIA & Kenny Beats "Puff Daddy" 5. The Beatles "For No One" 6. Blockhead "Insomniac Olympics" 7. George Ezra "Hold My Girl" 8. Talking Heads "Psycho Killer" 9. Alessandro Cortini "Scappa" 10. Boards of Canada "Roygbiv" 11. The Microphones "I Want Wind To Blow" 12. Algiers "The Underside of Power" 13. Jon Bellion "Adult Swim" (feat. Tuamie) 14. Young Fathers "Cocoa Sugar" 15. Animal Collective "My Girls" 16. Nirvana "Heart-Shaped Box" 17. Swans "Eden Prison" 18. Billie Eilish "when the party's over" 19. Yves Tumor "Economy of Freedom" 20. Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Storm" 21. Big K.R.I.T. "Miss Georgia Fornia" (feat. Joi) 22. Anna von Hausswolff "Pills" 23. Radiohead "Packt Like Sardines in a Crushed Tin Box" 24. Shame "Concrete" 25. Blaenavon "Into The Night" 26. 20. Little Mix couldn't hold a candle to The Cure if it was their only source of light ;o
  21. Bumped into this bloke in Liverpool on Saturday. Thought I recognised him from somewhere then I clicked!
  22. f*** off no way Not ready wtf dkfgjhn
  23. Every single track in the top 10 on Hot Hits is a female fronted pop song!
  24. Thank GOD "Polaroid" is stalling, one of the least imaginative songs of the year. Pop is doing great in the charts at the moment - would be great to see "1999" and "Sweet But Psycho" in the top 10 soon
  25. The whole top 10 is pop for the first time in a while.
