  1. Ref. "Fairytale of New York" saying f*****, I am absolutely certain that no offence was meant by the lyric and it wasn't written with the intention of direct homophobia. I'm not in any way defending the use of the word in daily life, when used as an insult it's absolutely unexcusable, but I've never known anyone (including all my LGBT friends) to get offended by the track - I would call it problematic to flag the song up and say it shouldn't be a thing as Kirsty MacColl obviously had zero intention to pick on or invalidate gay people by writing the lyrics. The song was written in a time of serious unrest in Ireland so I would say that the lyric is intended more in a jokey way, as a way of appealing to the masses in Ireland by using traditional language to encourage singing along in a carefree manner. Ultimately, I think there are MUCH more pressing issues regarding misuse of language towards the LGBT community than a lighthouse Christmas song.
  2. It feels too much like a normal Ariana track, doesn't have that proper Christmas party vibe that most of the old Christmas songs do imo :D
  3. "Santa Tell Me" is a tragic excuse for a Christmas song, boo at it being higher than the brilliant "Fairytale of New York". (which is criminally low, as if f***ing BRENDA LEE has more streams than it :()
  4. "Evolve" was fronted by two massive hits so it's no wonder they're not doing as well this time. I wouldn't say they're underperforming as such - a majority of new albums fall out of the top 40 on week 3.
  5. "1999" for top 10 next week plz
  6. That "Advice" song is pretty good ngl Shame they skipped "Mo Bamba" too :(
  7. This is INCREDIBLE holy shit?!?! Please go to #1.
  8. In terms of UK charts at least, latin music has notably faded in popularity and prescence since the start of the year.
  9. "Be Somebody Good" is possibly their best to date  "Movies" is pretty dull though.

I have to say I think the Nations League is ours to lose. Our squad depth is fantastic at the moment and no doubt we'll be even stronger by next summer.
  11. It's pretty good, but it's no "Bad At Love".
  12. "Baby" is by far the poorest of their releases since "Tears". It's probably their most basic structurally and compositionally, and I can't say Marina's vocals are anywhere near as enjoyable as Julia and Demi's were.
  13. The hype around Ava reminds me of how everyone was about Eva Simons like 8 years ago - hopefully Ava can go one better than Eva and get huge.

Unbelievable for Take That, can't say the same for Rita though.
  15. Is that based on Bassetts or Maynards or something
  16. V late but floored to see Godspeed on this list *.* My favourite of theirs is "East Hastings" but their whole discography is solid.
  17. It's not up to the label, it's up to Spotify
  18. It's not actually that bad tbf (make the vocals less shite and you've got a pretty solid track)
  19. Wow, Kylie at #7 on iTunes? Looks like she's a shoe in for Christmas #1 now, probably will go top 5 this week, and with the new XXXTENTACION remix that'll make it one of the biggest songs of the year !!!111!
  20. Or maybe Spotify just promote the music that they think sounds the most marketable to the public that'll get the most streams... hence Lauv and Billie Eilish are getting promoted... because they make ACCESSIBLE pop music. It's not that deep :P
  21. Loving that pop is having a big resurgence in the charts right now, hope it lasts.
  22. Swear you said it was shit when it came out
  23. I wouldn't say she's 'come out of nowhere'. She's been pretty popular since about November last year - that was the point in which a lot of people started becoming aware of her. Her track "Six Feet Under" has been around for god knows how long now as well, I don't think she's an industry plant.
  24. All my friends are absolutely mad for him, but jesus christ "Lighting Matches" is probably up there with the worst albums of the year for me, dull uninspired shite. His voice sounds unbearable within 5 minutes as well.
  25. "when the party's over" is absolutely exceptional
