I don’t know why she didn’t put the Barbie single on the album? It sounds relatively similar and was a huge hit, it would have definitely helped streaming numbers and kept it around a bit longer from people listening to it. She’d also have a smash from this album on top.

People keep under estimating Taylor’s fanbase and influence on the charts, I thought after the past week people would understand, especially in the US which trials to the U.K. also

No one has said that? Just that the eras tour helped make Sabrina a mainstream artist? Which is a fact. The amount of promo and Viral TikToks/articles/social media presence from the tour dramatically helped her, first day listens were huge compared to her previous entries. The song itself is a hit also, but it’s not had to organically grow like Hozier’s Too Sweet because of her presence on the eras tour helping her become well known. Nothing wrong with great promo? And I don’t doubt the song will have grown to huge streams with other being on the eras tour, but it would have taken weeks longer imo; but she had a shortcut, which is good going and good of her/her team to get her on that tour. It’s exactly the same that going on the X factor and being a judge really helped Cheryl become a household name and allowed her music to debut straight away at #1 compared to Nadine/others, it gave her a head start/ big platform.. with the exact same music and no X factor she wouldn’t have had such high first few week sales, she would have had to grow each week - Just a question, do you know how promo works?

She’s not been a flop by any means but I think you’re right that this era is not looking as big as Future Nostalgia. Houdini was a hit, Training Season was a moderate hit and Ilusion currently isn’t looking like a moderate hit but if it’s stabilised a bit and if it bounces back next week with the album it could become a moderate hit also with multiple weeks in the top 10.

I don’t even think Kanye will get #1 in the US or here Can imagine Taylor’s third week sales will trump Kanyes first week in the US, imagine it could be: #1 Taylor (3rd week) #2 Kanye #3 Dua Whilst Dua I think in the U.K. will beat Kanyes first week and Taylor’s third week, could be close between all three though, but a guess (very unsure on this one): #1 Dua #2 Kanye #3 Taylor

2024 Albums Year To Date Estimates
It’ll be the biggest album of the year surely. Wouldn’t be suprised if the weekend’s highlights begin to do more each week by July time but it won’t be able to catch up from the strong first two weeks of sales imo. Guess it’s only fair after Midnights was robbed of the 2023 feat due to compilation/hits albums getting ‘sales’ through Spotify playlists rather than it actually being a new album / people are listening to the body of work

Crazy for three songs to be above 700K by different artists, all would be #1 in another week of this year

Very odd choice of a single, I think she released it purely because it had Post Malone on it. It was clear as day that Down, Bad and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart were the two more commercially successful sounding songs on the main album. Failing that The Black Dog on the anthology I love the album but fortnight would be in the bottom 5 of the 31 tracks

At the rate it’s climbing it is looking to overtake tomorrow I reckon. Might be below on other streaming sites so reckon it’ll be close.

Will be interesting to see which other two tracks of Taylor’s make the chart based on these streams. Looking like So Long London, TTPD, Down Bad are all around the same streams on Spotify now; so the other streaming services will come into play. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart started off a lot lower (500K) but is pulling large numbers, will be close if it edges in also. If it doesn’t I’m sure it will chart in the top 5 next week, meaning she’d have 4 top 5 singles

Will Taylor Swift's new album sell over 200k in week 1?
I think it’ll be close! I reckon another 28K from streaming is inevitable to bring it to 225K. It’s just whether she can sell another 35K physicals/downloads across the four days. I think it’ll be close and in the 250-275K range! Adele was 261K I think

Looks like Hozier is at his peak around 700-800 now and likely won’t get higher? Probably remain stable in these numbers for another week or two and start its decline? Although hard to tell still at this point. Interesting to see if Taylor does reach #1, can imagine her top song debuting around 1.1M dropping to about 800K the next day, so will have a lead, but very likely to get eaten up on the backend of the week after the second day. Imagine she will have higher digital sales to help, but likely only about 5K. Think it’ll be an interesting battle!

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
My prediction anyway is over 200K. But feel like my guess is anything between 175-300K, I wouldn’t be surprised if this pulls huge sales. Tempted to guess 240K as a mid figure/definite guess. I do think this will be her peak for her highest sales in the first week though. I think the fact the Era’s tour is coming up as well as such a successful Midnights and Cruel summer run will make this her biggest yet on initial sales.

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
The fact there are genuinely 10 people who think this wont debut at #1 is shocking to me, even (18) people who think this will sell less than 100k is mind blowing to me. Think just common sense alone should make those two obvious, but guess this is a true reflection of society and intelligence

I think Hozier still isn’t close to his streaming peak, whilst people continue to discover the song. Reckon he’ll be doing 1M a day when Taylor releases, so do think she will debut at #2. Can’t see her managing 1M daily, she will likely be ahead day 1 and day 2, and then drop below for the remaining 5 days. #1 #2 #3 is out of question for sure now, either #2, #3, #4 (most likely) or #1, #3 #4 I reckon

Best-Selling Artists of 2010s?
I don’t think the U.K. does a seperate artist list collating all their single/album sales of the decade like billboard does for an artist chart. I’d assume the top 5 would be Ed Sheeran, Adele, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Drake/Bieber
-
Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
In terms of U.K. songs most of the general public know in order I’d say: Shake It Off, Anti Hero, Blank Space, Love Story, Cruel Sunmer Cruel Summer still needs more time but I think has just entered the category that it’ll be one of her known renowned songs.

2023 year to date estimates
Greatest hits literally just mean people are streaming popular songs, they’re not even listening to the album. If Taylor Swift released a greatest hits at the end of the year with 25 of her most popular songs it’d probably be #1 for half the year. It’s clogging up the entire chart.

The Guinness World Records - UPDATED best selling female
I suspect Taylor next year will be at least 3rd place, maybe even ahead of Rihanna

2023 year to date estimates
Now that cruel summer is back on SCR I wonder if it can end up landing in the top 10? Between 8-10? I think #11 is a guaranteed spot now and the lowest it’ll chart on the year end chart

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
I think you are right.. this was my first thought. It will get two plays per every album stream, and also as it was a latecomer many will go straight to the track now. It’s going to cheat its way into the top 3. I don’t think either version will even be in the top half but both combined will end up at #2/#3 of the album.. My guess now would be $l*t - #5 Bad Blood - #8 Style - #9 —————- Cheated - Say Don’t Go #10 (potentially blank space)

Welcome to New York is first purely for being track #1, same happened with Minenon speak Now as people will not finish the entire album or pause/restart, or will listen on the way to work/the shop and not make it through far enough as their journey isn’t going to be the full album length. Many of the others will overtake I imagine, which is what happened with Enchanted overtaking Mine later in the week when true streams/popularity can be seen over tracklisting order.
