iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 6th October 2017
From what I can find in the old threads: Death of You and Me: 17 iTunes, 15 official AKA What a Life: 20 iTunes, 20 official In the Heat of the Moment: 16 iTunes, 26 official So this is definitely his highest iTunes peak, but that's not saying much in this day and age.

The UK's Official Chart 'millionaires' revealed
Sporcle quiz on this (made several years ago but just updated with new sales figures), if anybody is interested: https://www.sporcle.com/games/Yorkiebar357/...selling-singles Decided not to update it to include streams as I'm not sure you can even enter over 300 answers :P

The UK's Official Chart 'millionaires' revealed
I can only agree with this decision if they continue to produce a separate million sellers list - or at the very least the ratio should be 150:1 for the purposes of this list. Seeing Shape of You above Bohemian Rhapsody is just insane, the total sales of tracks from the last 2 years are too inflated to reflect their true popularity. (I realise the list was never a perfect indicator of popularity due to sales being higher or lower in certain periods, but it was at least fair) On the other hand, it's a very interesting read :P

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 25th August 2017
Let's face it, Taylor could have released anything as the first single and it would have been a worldwide #1. She knew that so she's probably saving the big commercial song (something like Blank Space?) for the second single. Anyway, getting to #1 between 5am-9am is insane, most of her fanbase are probably still asleep.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th August 2017
Looking forward to Taylor Swift's comeback as it's been a while, but please no more Bieber #1s... If he hadn't featured on about 600 tracks since his last album I'd just about be able to cope with a new single. Still, at least Dua Lipa will get a week at #1 which is a huge surprise!

Friday Chart Predictions
Not sure if anybody's mentioned this, but it was a surprise release (he announced it a day or two before it came out) which might explain why it rose late on in the week as more people found out about it :) Am I the only one who thinks Mi Gente is awful? Subeme La Radio is nothing special either. There are so many good Spanish tracks out there (Bailando), why can't they be popular instead?

Is it possible Ed Sheeran could overtake both, with missing streaming data? :(

Friday Chart Predictions
Whichever way you take it, I agree that the idea of a song returning to SCR in a week where its sales actually decrease makes no sense. I really think they should have removed all confusion by just saying "increases by 50% week on week" with no reference to the market change, seeing as this is minimal anyway. (Not that these rules make much sense anyway, but they could have at least made it clear what the rules were)

Friday Chart Predictions
This makes no sense though - if the market remained exactly the same (0% change) then 50% more than the market change would also be 0%, i.e. a song would only have to gain 1 sale more to be taken off ACR? Or if the market fell by 4%, wouldn't that meant that if a track *decreased* by less than 6% it would be taken off ACR? There's no way that's right!

Affected positions due to 300:1 ratio
Going to have a go at explaining this in the hope that I understand it... The market fell by 0.3% this week, meaning it was 99.7% of the size it was last week, or 0.997 times. In order to have increased by 50% relative to the overall market, Despacito would have had to increase by (0.997 x 50%) = 49.85%. So more like an increase from 50 to 75k. This is basically 50%, so really we can just ignore the extra term. The whole thing is quite ridiculous though, I get that they're trying to freshen up the chart but it really means nothing now.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 14th July 2017
If any Enrique song it should have been Bailando getting this huge success - it even had an (inferior) English version but never really took off here :( Still, if Despacito has started a trend of foreign-language hits actually becoming popular in the UK then I suppose that's a good thing.

OCC chart rule changes - artist cap and ACR
What a mess. Ever since streaming has been introduced the chart has been getting more and more difficult to follow, to the point where it's impossible to compare the success of singles from even a couple of years apart or work out any sort of sales total. Actually these changes should be good for speeding up the chart, but as people have said if a song increases sales one week due to being discounted or performed somewhere, it will get a massive arbitrary spike in its chart run for several weeks even if not more popular. Also I'm guessing featured artists won't be counted towards the three track maximum, so somebody like Bieber could still have about 6 entries in the top 40. Like others have said, don't see how it's difficult to just remove album tracks rather than putting some limit on how many singles one can have. And as always when they change the rules, it's frustrating for the tracks that were denied high peaks due to the Ed Sheeran invasion this year, where under the new rules they would have performed better. Sorry for ranting. All this is why I follow the sales chart rather than the official one. :P

45. Kodaline - Brother 1340. Kodaline - Brother (Stripped Back) It's going to just miss out on the iTunes top 40 isn't it? :(

11-17, what a flop! (Seriously though, there's so many newer songs they could play instead of this...)

85. Kodaline - Brother Was expecting to see the "stripped back" version appearing at least in the top 1500 since it was released at the same time, and I'd have thought many of the fans would buy both. Just me then? :P

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 16th June 2017
Usually only read these threads and rarely comment, but may emerge to stan for Kodaline this week :w00t: (Who am I kidding, it'll spend about 2 days in the top 100 then disappear forever... Hoping the album does well though)

Friday Chart Predictions
No way Despacito is doing 7k per day on iTunes - its total paid-for sales last week were 38k so assuming 35k this week that's ~5k per day total, so maybe ~4k on iTunes? Thinking it's going to be too close for anybody to call this week until the chart is announced, which is always fun! Not really a fan of the Grenfell single on first listen - as usual with these charity singles there are too many artists all getting one line each, so there's way too much ad-libbing and it doesn't flow that well, making it hard to listen to. Fully in support of it getting #1 though, the more publicity it gets the more money is raised after all! :)

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 19th May 2017
Always loved One Last Time even though I'm no huge Ariana fan - such a great tribute to see it doing so well, hopefully it can last several days and have a shot at repeaking (top 10 even?) Feel quite bad for being happy that the song's doing well as a result of what happened, but we've got to find the positives somewhere.

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 12th May 2017
Sia's sales at #4 last year would be enough for #1 this week :( Happy for Despacito to get #1, it's pretty good and nice to have a foreign language song reach the top, but the version with Justin Bieber is vastly inferior and rather frustrated that the public will rush to buy a song just because he features :P

Humble ruining an otherwise excellent top 10... Although Swalla is still to come isn't it? :puke2: So glad Symphony should reach #1 today, even if it may only be for a week! :D
