  1. It's worth noting that in the sales-only chart, Cheap Thrills now has 24 consecutive weeks in the top 20. As far as I can tell, that's longer than any other song this year has even spent top 40, except Hymn For The Weekend! Pretty impressive :)
  2. Am I the only one who really likes Toothbrush? It's so catchy! :P
  3. Never would have predicted this would drop out of the top 10 so quickly after so long in the top 3 :o
  4. Glad Bryan Adams is going to keep his record, such a classic :D It'll probably get dethroned within the next few years anyway.
  5. Hotter Than Hell should have made the top 10! :(
  6. Missing out 25-21 because of "dance anthems" - they don't care about the chart at all do they? On the plus side, that means not having to listen to Panda or Controlla. But Good Grief missing out on a play :( How is Hymn for the Weekend still top 20?
  7. What was with Diamonds playing between every song in that mix?
  8. Looking at the iTunes chart, it looks like (unless a huge name is involved) a track basically has to be reduced to 59p to take off these days - half of the top 20 are currently at 59p. Whilst it's good that they're (mostly) giving boosts to new tracks, it's looking like reducing the standard price would be a good idea to convince people to buy more music. Apple might never actually go through with this, but from the artist's point of view, considering how little revenue they apparently get from streaming, I'd imagine most would be happy with this.
  9. I don't even mind Bieber getting another #1 at this point if it gets rid of Drake! Cold Water is average having listened to it today, but it might grow. Now just to survive one last week of One Dance... Hoping for big climbs from Christine and the Queens and Ariana Grande today (and Jonas Blue at #1 but that's not going to happen)
  10. Fair enough, I'm not denying that. I just see reducing the price after 14 weeks at #1 as a blatant attempt by the record company to manipulate the chart and get more weeks. On the other hand, it was clearly an effort to do the same thing when Wet Wet Wet deleted their single, but they didn't get any more weeks from it anyway as the competition proved too strong when Whigfield released. I'm probably just biased when it's been 11 weeks since the song was even #1 on sales, it really shouldn't still be there at this point and anything that gives it a boost is a terrible thing in my view
  11. It just seems like such a coincidence if not. iTunes often promote songs that are struggling to rise up the charts (especially recently) but I can't remember a time when a song already at #1 has been reduced, ever. Some have got there after being made 59p. To do so for a song that has been there for 14 weeks is ludicrous and I would think Apple have more sense than to do that unless they're given good reason to. Sure, by all means reduce its price when it's dropped out of the top 40, but not now!
  12. Putting Jonas Blue/Calum Scott back to full price was definitely the right choice this week now they're big hits, but WHO thought it would be a good idea to reduce One Dance???!!! Until now I doubted the idea that Drake was paying Spotify to keep promoting him, but this happening on the week he probably would have fallen from #1 screams foul play. Actually lost all interest in the chart now, I probably won't be listening for a while :(
  13. Yorkie3 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
    Dance With Me Tonight had higher sales than the week it was #1: 3/12/11: 74,475 (#2) 10/12/11: 62,417 (#2) 17/12/11: 46,584 (#1) 24/12/11: 41,726 (#3) 31/12/11: 38,217 (#6) 7/1/12: 76,822 (#2) 14/1/12: 31,809 (#6) Which makes Wrapped Up #5 on this list so his new one would need to sell 75k to be top 5 :P
  14. This is turning into a complete farce now... My interest in the chart has declined massively in the last two months! Fine with a song gaining a week at #1 due to streaming, but not 9 weeks, denying three good songs the top spot! It's not even a problem with streaming itself, but the fact that Spotify are still shamelessly promoting the song :puke2: Don't want all my posts in here to be complaints though - there are many good songs in the chart, they're just not doing this well :P
  15. +5 Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl +4 Galantis - No Money +3 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling +2 Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For +1 Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears -1 Sia feat. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills -2 Gnash feat. Olivia O'Brien - I Hate U, I Love U -3 Cheat Codes & Kris Kross Amsterdam - Sex -4 Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla - One Dance -5 Drake feat. Rihanna - Too Good Still love all the top 6 :)
  16. Really not getting any of these Drake songs, including One Dance, so how it's been #1 for 9 weeks escapes me. It's a shame because he's had great songs in the past (Hold On, We're Going Home especially).
  17. Will Sex be replacing Mike Posner or Galantis in the top 10? I like both so would rather it stalled at 11, but yay for a mildly fresh top 10 I suppose :P
  18. *mutes* :puke2:
  19. So there are quite a few old tracks dropping a lot this week... Is it possible that there's some streaming data missing?
  20. +5 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza +4 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling +3 Sia feat. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills +2 Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For +1 Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl -1 Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears -2 Galantis - No Money -3 Gnash feat. Olivia O'Brien - I Hate U, I Love U -4 Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla - One Dance -5 Drake feat. Rihanna - Too Good
  21. Agree with all the comments about One Dance - it's such a nothing of a song and I can't see how it even got one week at the top, let alone seven! Plus I love all three of the songs it has denied #1 :( really hope Justin Timberlake can do it next week!
  22. +5 DJ Snake feat. Bipolar Sunshine - Middle +4 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza +3 Zara Larsson - Lush Life +2 Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For +1 DNCE - Cake By The Ocean -1 Sia feat. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills -2 Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling -3 Galantis - No Money -4 Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla - One Dance -5 Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home Love the whole top 8 here :o
  23. No - I agree with streaming being included in the chart now sales are observably collapsing, but the fact is that "sales" are FAR too artificially high with streaming included to make any sense with respect to the all-time list. Even before streaming, with downloads at their peak the best selling singles of all time were beginning to be dominated by newer songs, mainly due to trickle sales. Nothing could be done about that, because a sale is still a sale, but an artificial number being added on due to people listening to a song when they didn't even have to pay for it doesn't seem right to me, even if it works in the weekly charts when all songs are on an even footing. Within the next few years we would end up with more than half the list being made up of singles post-2010. On the other hand, don't know if it's been discussed before, but I was thinking it would be interesting to see a list of best-selling singles (streaming included) with sales of each single as a proportion of total sales in the year in which it was released - i.e. songs from 2012/13 would be a lot lower, whilst those from 2005/6 would be boosted. It would be a much better indicator of the most popular singles of all time, but would probably be impossible to calculate for anything pre-1994.
  24. How is Lush Life staying so high? Its sales are dropping fast and streaming's not THAT high... (not that I'm complaining)
  25. Jesus, this must be one of the worst songs I've ever heard! What is going on? Hair is pretty good though, Little Mix's singles have been great this era!
