The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 29th April 2016
How has Girls Like dropped below Lush Life again? :o Expecting Prince to be #5 behind DNCE today, but that's still a great result!

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 29th April 2016
I didn't come here for Beyoncé's album, I came for the chart! In all seriousness though, I know the tracks deserve to be here based on their sales/streams, but I really don't think those outside the top 25 deserve to get played any more than new entries every other week, especially seeing as most of them are only really here because it's cheaper to buy all the individual tracks than the entire album... And they skipped Disturbed!

On a more serious note, I've been playing that Kygo/Kodaline track on repeat all morning. Hope it becomes a proper single and does big things!

1. Kygo feat. Kodaline - Raging

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th March 2016
That makes sense, thanks! I hope it doesn't get to #1 when there are so many better songs in the top 10 that could be there.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th March 2016
Mike Posner is going to have to pull quite a way ahead on iTunes to make #1 on Friday, I don't see it happening this week much as I'd like it to! Looks like his only challenge next week will be Fifth Harmony though, don't know how that's taken off so much.

If any of Hymn For The Weekend, I Took A Pill In Ibiza or Lush Life could be the next #1 I'd be very happy! :D

I was just thinking, it really shows how much sales have collapsed when Lukas Graham have such a HUGE lead over #2 on iTunes, and yet are still selling well under 100k a week! :(

Don't think I'd mind Pillowtalk being #1 if it wasn't pointlessly capitalised

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show- 5th February 2016
So glad What Do You Mean is gone from the top 10, even if it's more bearable for me than his other two songs still in there! :P

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show- 5th February 2016
I agree Wiggle is awful, but have you heard every song ever made to make the judgment that it's in the top 10 worst? Greg's Ned Flanders analogy is perfect!

OCC: Sia's Top 10 Best Sellers (as singer and songwriter)
I could have sworn she'd written more massive songs for other artists too! :o Slightly off-topic but I'd love to see a similar list for Ryan Tedder, he's written a ridiculous number of popular songs!

Oh, I know, just trying to block out the fact that streaming exists for the moment :P

Which song was #1 in the UK & USA when you joined Buzzjack?
Originally joined on 7th July 2012 (was lurking for over a year before that I believe) UK: will.i.am feat. Eva Simons - This Is Love US: Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
-
first artist younger than yourself to get a #1 single
Lorde for me too - until she came along I don't think any #1s had been by artists even close to my age, but now there have been several younger than me :(

So nice to see a top 5 made of mostly new songs at last! :D

Friday Chart Predictions
Agree with this - people will discover old music at a steady rate as time goes on anyway, because they weren't alive/listening to music when it first came out. The news of an artist's death just leads more people to try out their music after hearing about it, and so many of them buy the music at once, for no other reason than that they like it. If David Bowie's music sold nothing in the few months leading up to his death, then the "bandwagon" arguments would be more credible, but clearly he's quite a good trickle seller anyway.
