Early this morning Beyonce sent her first tweet since August 2013, detailing the release of her new album Lemonade. Looks like it's exclusive to Tidal for now, but there may be a proper release later.

I'm very surprised to see another update already! As girlsaloudjunkie said, it's only been six months since the last one!
  3. Prince has never allowed any of his music on streaming sites (except Tidal, of course), so he's gonna have a bummer of a time reaching the top 10 ever again singles-wise

Haven't got a scooby doo. I felt the same about 18 Months and Everything I Do (no certification at all and not quite 3x platinum despite over 1.8m sales, respectively)

Totally forgot about that one. The first this century anyway!

Pharrell Williams has now gained the first 4x Platinum single of all time in the UK! What an achievement!

I'm guessing that Bangarang and Little Lion Man must both be pretty close to joining that club though.
  8. Die Another Day above 4 Minutes? Seriously?

I don't know. That's what I thought about Maroon 5 but their greatest hits bombed
  10. Hope the release of Red Flag also helps One Strike to chart higher than number 198!

    How close we talkin?
  12. Chasing Cars? Are you guys mad? In my opinion that's the best song of the last 25 years!

Let's be honest, if it weren't for Crazy and Chasing Cars, downloading would never have even become a thing. Those two songs showed the impact downloads were having before the OCC changed their rules in January 2007.

There were some more certifications on Tuesday. Purpose and All of Me both went 3x Platinum, Lush Life went Platinum and Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware went Silver
  15. Nope, I think it's still just behind Wannabe.

The OCC have just announced that it was down to an error. It is actually 164, not 165.

You're right about no overplay - in fact I'd never even heard of it until about two years ago, but I was familiar pretty much every other song that was a hit at the time. I can't recall hearing it on the radio on one single occasion in fact, same with Let Her Go.

It may be Valentines Day, but that hasn't stopped one heck of an emotional breakup song - Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts - from reaching a huge sales milestone in the UK. The US singer-songwriter's debut single has hit the one million sales mark in the UK almost five years after its release, OfficialCharts.com can reveal. Jar of Hearts - written by Perri about a difficult ending of a relationship - joins an elite club of just 165 songs that have sold over one million (not including streams) in UK chart history. The track was a slow burner on the Official Singles Chart, initially entering the Top 100 at Number 90 in June 2011. Two months later, Jar of Hearts entered the Top 40 at 17 and hit its peak of Number 4 two weeks later. Notably, Jar of Hearts is one of the few million-selling songs that failed to hit the top spot. Only three tracks that have hit the milestone have peaked lower: Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars (6), Journey's Don't Stop Believin' (6) and Bing Crosby's White Christmas (5). Robbie Williams' Angels is the only other million seller to also peak at Number 4, which it did in 1998. Congratulations, Christina! Now, let's all have a singalong (and mini cry):
  19. Uptown Funk's now at number 4 on the biggest sellers of the decade - only outsold by Happy, Blurred Lines and Someone Like You. Although unbelievably, Someone Like You still hasn't gone 3x Platinum yet, whereas Uptown Funk's more than halfway to 4x Platinum
  20. Then again, Think Twice and Don't Give Up on Us both have a subject matter of "please don't leave me" - so it is a little confusing how only one of them made the list
  21. I messaged the OCC and apparently Think Twice, Bleeding Love, Someone like You and I Just Called to Say I Love You are not Valentine's Day-appropriate. Hence their exclusion. They're kinda right, Stevie is just calling for the sake of saying "I love you", Leona's having a troubled relationship, and Celine and Adele are both going through break-ups - not really appropriate for Valentine's Day
  22. Really? According to a Music Week article in November, Make You Feel My Love was on 955,055 (over 1 million with streams, but that's not important)
  23. Also, it just goes to show how terrible music sales were from 2002 to 2005 when two songs which reached number 2 (Speed of Sound and In My Place) don't even make the top 10
  24. No, they haven't. TBH I would have thought that Clocks would be higher than 300,000, but I guess not. Even more surprising than that is the fact that it's been outsold by ETIAW
  25. I don't think Work will go to number 1, but Anti probably will
