Maybe, maybe not. I went to the BPI's database and it says Bridge over Troubled Water is 10x Platinum, even though it got a 2x Platinum certification only last year

Also, Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is now officially one of the longest-charting albums of all time (100 weeks)

Early this morning Beyonce sent her first tweet since August 2013, detailing the release of her new album Lemonade. Looks like it's exclusive to Tidal for now, but there may be a proper release later.

I guess the Official Charts Company weren't counting on streaming becoming the major deal it is now. Back in 2014 no one expected songs to be gaining 15-20 million streams a month, but that's exactly what's happening now

I'm very surprised to see another update already! As girlsaloudjunkie said, it's only been six months since the last one!

Prince has never allowed any of his music on streaming sites (except Tidal, of course), so he's gonna have a bummer of a time reaching the top 10 ever again singles-wise

Also, Thinking Out Loud has finally left the top 100 after a record breaking 95 consecutive weeks! One more week would have seen it overtake I'm Yours and Don't Stop Believin', as well as bringing it closer to a three-figure chart run

Haven't got a scooby doo. I felt the same about 18 Months and Everything I Do (no certification at all and not quite 3x platinum despite over 1.8m sales, respectively)

Mr Brightside has now spent six consecutive weeks in the top 100 for the first time since 2009. Anyone know why it's now suddenly more popular than it's been in the last 7 years?

The other week I was reading the Music Week report for the first week in which the UK Singles Chart included streaming. That week saw Problem by Ariana Grande sell more than 105,000 proper copies and streaming only accounted for about 6% of the overall sales. It's unbelievable how much has changed in under two years

I don't know. That's what I thought about Maroon 5 but their greatest hits bombed

Unless Adele retakes the top position, is it possible that this week could provide the lowest ever sales for a new number 1 album? (Rihanna holds the record overall, but that was when Talk That Talk returned to number 1 almost a year after it did so the first time)
