Scott Mills is part of the problem, because he represents a station which sneers at the contest unconditionally. As does he during his own presentation of the semi-finals. So even if we could find a 'killer' song, it would never get playlisted on Radio 1, and it would similarly be ignored by 6Music and possibly even Radio 2 (as was the case initially with Blue 2011). If the BBC could provide more joined-up support for the contest, it would find it a bit easier to attract the substantial, experienced act which successful Eurovision nations enter year after year.
