I had wondered whether streaming had, had an adverse affect on the music in the charts. So i remembered a time before streaming and I remembered the Vengaboys and how maybe things werent so bad now after all!
  5. It sold 90000 that week 12% of which was on vinyl (10800)
  6. Even more confusing Stanley Road never entered the chart til the week after that...
  7. Streams shouldnt count towards cumulative sales, especially for songs pre stream era. Also With playlists people dont choose what they listen to so they should not count.

Music Week published a top 20 IIRC, which just covered the million sellers. Hit Music Newsletter (off shoot of MW) published a top 100, which had glaringly obvious errors and omissions in it. Thanks to MFR's own research based on official sales this was the top 40 of the 90's CANDLE IN THE WIND '97 / SOMETHING IN THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT Elton John UNCHAINED MELODY / WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER Robson & Jerome LOVE IS ALL AROUND Wet Wet Wet BARBIE GIRL Aqua BELIEVE Cher PERFECT DAY Various Artists (EVERYTHING I DO) I DO IT FOR YOU Bryan Adams BABY ONE MORE TIME Britney Spears I'LL BE MISSING YOU Puff Daddy / Faith Evans I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU Whitney Houston KILLING ME SOFTLY Fugees WANNABE Spice Girls MY HEART WILL GO ON Celine Dion GANGSTA'S PARADISE Coolio NEVER EVER All Saints THINK TWICE Celine Dion HEARTBEAT / TRAGEDY Steps TELETUBBIES SAY EH-OH Teletubbies I BELIEVE / UP ON THE ROOF Robson & Jerome SPACEMAN Babylon Zoo IT'S LIKE THAT Run DMC SATURDAY NIGHT Whigfield EARTH SONG Michael Jackson 2 BECOME 1 Spice Girls NO MATTER WHAT Boyzone WONDERWALL Oasis BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY / THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES Queen TORN Natalie Imbruglia BACK FOR GOOD Take That BLUE (DA BA DEE) Eiffel 65 SAY YOU'LL BE THERE Spice Girls STAY ANOTHER DAY East 17 MISSING Everything But The Girl MEN IN BLACK Will Smith UNCHAINED MELODY Righteous Brothers THE MILLENNIUM PRAYER Cliff Richard CHOCOLATE SALTY BALLS Chef C'EST LA VIE B*Witched MAMBO NO. 5 Lou Bega ANGELS Robbie Williams RETURN OF THE MACK Mark Morrison

u2 the fly is my fave no.1 of 91, it was also responsible for ending Bryan Adams run at the top.

I like the Loose Ends song Hangin On A String. They were the first British group to top the US R&B charts with that song. Paving the way for other UK R&B acts in the USA like Soul II Soul and Lisa Stansfield etc
  13. Heart All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You originally Dobie Gray

watched the story of 1985, didnt realise Holding out for a hero was released in 1984, just checked it was released in April 1984 and didnt chart until August 1985, without a reissue- so it took 16 months to chart that must be a record.. as for Dead Or alive I have found a Big Ben Mix, Performance mix and a Murder mix...but no TDF mix? funny story though

Loue psb especially their early stuff. Always on my mind was 1st single i ever bought also bought Heart. Losing my mind was by liza manelli produced by psb, bought that too!
  19. Two versions of the same song (When I Fall In Love) in the top ten, won't happen again until Wonderwall in December 1995
  20. Do chart peak positions mean anything anymore? Take for instance the OCC list of Eminem biggest sellers, a song peaking at 73 is out selling a number one. It seems a bit of a mockery, back in the days of physicals you might get a number 2,3,or rarely a number 4 out selling a number one but never with as much disparity as 73 -1.

Lose yourself is my favourite :music: film 8 mile is good as well
  22. I came here for love 2017?
  23. Unlike now, around xmas sales across the whole chart would have been much bigger than usual so some big names flopping would have been expected. For instance 78,000 sales only enough for a no.3 position
