  1. can I see Barbados please? I can only think of Bruno Mars and Rihanna..
  2. The story of Wet Wet Wet being deleted did have an effect as its sales increased 60% that week but still ended up 50,000 sales behind Whigfield
  3. Yes me too. However, I much preferred the books when Gambaccini and Rice used to author it, rather than the more recent ones. I especially enjoyed their facts and feats section.
  4. I was thinking of Canada, which seems to be ruling the charts at the moment with Beiber, Mendes and The Weeknd. However, it may be too big..?

I remember the BBC using Kiki Dee's Star as the theme to Opportunity Knocks in the late 80's. Good song. Vienna is good but is is a bit over-rated IMo I much prefer Dancing With Tears In My Eyes to that.
  6. Interesting thanks. Are you doing ones for other countries?
  7. Have they missed out Taken For Granted?..

BBC4 doesnt get alot of viewers, its lucky if one of its programmes breaches the 1 million mark, and I dont think TOTP gets that many, so I woouldnt be surprised if it were to be axed. It'd be a shame, if it did happen I guess the best we could hope for if they did is they brought back TOTP 2 on BBC2. I would also miss the pop documentaries on BBC 4 aswell.

Doesn't seem like we are getting a Y/E chart purely based on downloads and physical sales then.. :(
  10. I cant see this being a big hit, Pete Watermans last attempt at a hit was with Eurovision and that flopped big time. Nice she is working with SAW again though, there was a time she refused to even sing her SAW songs let alone work with them again.

I think it was just down to the song, this was a slow love song, more mature song than their previous singles, which probably got it more airplay and appealed to a wider audience than just a hardcore teen fan base.

when are we going to come out of the 'yewtree' period altogether, anytime soon?
  13. Surprised She Loves You was so high up, although it is their biggest seller its not really that good imo. Agreed that Day-tripper and Ballad Of John & Yoko should have been higher -

    They should bring back TOTP2
  15. Beatles version of Twist & Shout is the definitive version imo. A group called the Top Notes were the first to record it, co- written by Bert Bern's who wrote & produced a lot of the classic soul & R&B songs of the era.

hard to predict, on the one hand album sales in general are pretty dire, and on the other the country is in the grip of adele-mania. first week i'd say over 300k

  23. one of madonna's best songs, i think R1's decesion to stop playing her killed it off. :(
  24. Hot Chocolate & Status Quo in the 70's
  25. I reckon it will be Billie Jean for the nations fave 80's no.1, not as easy to call this one as it was for the 70's
