Paul McCartney has his first top ten hit since 1989 with Ferry Cross The Mersey, I was wondering is this a record, anyone know?
  2. I don't know of any others, but there doesnt neccesarily have to be one recently. Eurovision can set trends (well sort of ), Alexander Rybek ( I think thats his name  ) won it and there was nothing like that in the charts at the time.
  3. I think there's a Part of Sing by Ed Sheeran which Pharrell co wrote sounds almost identical to Mc Hammers U Cant Touch This. However no legal action there..
  4. Scatting records can do well, Scatman John had a huge UK & worldwide hit in 1995, with a song of just purely scatting (hence The name) y6oXW_YiV6g

Ian Campbell Folk Band charted in 1965, his son was Ali Campbell of UB40. As a soloist he charted with his daughter Kibbi on Somethin Stupid. Aaron of Sam & The Whomp's father is Trevor Horn of Buggles later a successful producer

I Didnt know that. However Karon Wheeler was the vocalist on Soul II Soul's only no.1 hit.
  7. I must be the only one to like it  The 'bopping' part is called scatting and its what people like Louis Armstrong used to do in the 1940's 50's B-) Even though I like it I dont think it will win or even come close unfortunatley. Interestingly the girl auditioned on The Voice, Ive always thought they should make it that the winner of the voice should represent the uk for eurovision.

Just found out recently whilst watching The Chase that Jake from Rixton was the son of Shane Ritchie (#2 in 2003 with I'm Your Man) and Coleen Nolan of The Nolans. Got me thinking how many charting solo artists or group members can we find, whose parents, step-Parents also made the charts before them.

The irony being that like a lot of the feminist anthems of the era, it was written by men.

Not as good tonight apart from the Specials and Queen. Used to have to endure Kenny Rogers all the time when I was young, as they were my parents choice in music.. We've Got Tonight is my fave song he did but even then I prefer the original by Bob Seger

With Ellie Goulding at number one with the song from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey. I have been thinking how many big hits from the last ten years can we name that have been taken from a movie soundtrack. Songs written or recorded specifically for inclusion in a film rather than songs added to film soundtracks long after they'd been written / recorded. I can name two straight off, anyone think of any others? Happy - Indespicle me 2 Let It Go - Frozen

Funnily my fave Pretenders song is the other Ray Davies song they covered I Go To Sleep, I used to love Brass In Pocket but it has got a bit boring now, however I still love Garbage and Special, which is based around Brass In Pocket. Interesting to hear another Buggles song other than Video. Trevor Horns son recently topped the charts as a member of Sam & Womp, I wonder if he will become as successful as his father...

Green Onions is a curious one, this was originally from 1962. Anyone know why it was issued and a hit in 1980? New Musik the standout track this week (other than the no.1)

Joe Jackson had to be the highlight for me. He wrote some great tunes should have had more hits than he did. Is She Really Going Out With Him is an all time classic
