  1. who holds the record for most consecutive weeks at no.3 peak? Plan B?
  2. fiesta posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Signature songs always tend to be the worst songs by an act IMO Angels, Love Is All Around, Uptown Girl, Golden Brown, Flying Without Wings, I will Always Love You, He aint heavy hes my brother, Pokerface etc all signatute songs but all pretty dire!
  3. Just over half are aged 15-24 and just 1 in 6 are over 40. I nulled my vote to get the results :P
  4. Brotherhood Of Man Save Your Kisses For Me is still the biggest selling UK entrant in Eurovision, I think its high time we had something to change that and I can't see Bonnie Tyler doing it ^_^ . Enter Adele in for Eurovision next year! :P

T Connection Do What You Wanna Do is a great song! Should have done better than #11!
  6. I watched her on The One Show promoting this new album. I then dug out some of her older material and I'd forgotten just how good Situation by Yazoo is!
  7. Were coming up to the 35th anniversary of the Top 75 chart in a couple of weeks, and two songs from this weeks TOTP which would not have charted if it had stayed as a top 50, Tonight's flop follow up to Drummer Man and another one which ive forgotten. Can't think of any other Squeeze hits, Up The Junction is a great song , one of my faves by them.

Something people probably dont know is that Thomas Banghalter of Daft Punk, his father wrote D I SC O the cheesy number 2 hit for Ottowan in 1980!!
  9. Ah! theres always one smarty pants who has all the answers ;)
  10. The title needs to match the Act name exactly in order to count.
  11. Just a little chart game. See how many we can come up with. :D So to clarify. I'm looking for a title of a chart hit that also corresponds to the title of a chart act. So for example Donny & Marie Osmond's 1976 hit Deep Purple is also the name of a chart band from the 1970's. The title has to correspond exactly, no added bits even if their in brackets, and also eponymous titled hits ( Doop by Doop etc) are not allowed. Both the title and the act have to have made the Uk charts. Just to add I do not have a list of all the answers. Just to let you know.. There are loads though cause I keep coming accross them when I'm looking through charts etc.
  12. this weeks episode was pretty dire. D D Jacksons performance the the guy (or girl?) in that silver spaceman suit making funny noises was quite laughable! BBC special effects haha!! One Hit Wonders. Gary Jules & Michael Andrews version of Mad World, probably one of the better OHW's. Can't think of any others..
  13. On the Paul McCartney hits, he had My Brave Face in 1989, which he cowrote with Elvis Costello!

At the time of Like A Prayer, I didn't like madonna, I havent got a clue why - but her stuff grew on me throughout the years!

  17. Erasure The Innocents
  18. I agree, Come Undone I always liked better then Ordinary World
  19. Tony Burrows?
  20. Correct :)
  21. Charity footbal records The Crowd with You'll Never Walk Alone in 1985 and Holly Johnson, Christians, Paul McCartney & Co with Ferry Cross The Mersey in 1989. The former was in aid of the Bradford Stadium Fire and the latter for Hillsborough. I think they both included Gerry Marsden. Off hand dunno who else was involved in the Crowd assemble. Blondie are a great group, their first few singles were before they teamed up with producer Mike Chapman. Parallell Lines I soppose would be their career highlight. Nottingham Forset on this weeks TOTP (which incl. paperlace) who won the League that year, but a little football trivia question, dunno if anyone is good at football, but does anyone know who won the FA cup in 1978?
  22. The only film I can Think of is the obvious one Saturday Night Fever. The younger brother was Andy, he had a huge US no.1 with Shadow Dancing.
  23. This week edition of TOTP had an impact on future generations of musicians, songs that were later hits for other acts Take A Chance On Me Abba - no.1 for Erasure in 1992 Wishing On A Star Rose Royce - been covered countless times most recently by X Factor Baker Street Gerry Rafferty - Undercover 1992 Emotions - Samantha Sang - Destinys Child 2001 Fantasy E W & F - Black Box 1990 Re: Dusty Springfield show, its a pity that the BBC had wiped all her performances from 1969 era so there was nothing much from her Dusty In Memphis album. Breakfast In Bed probably one of my fave songs from that album, later a hit in 1988 for UB40 & Chrissie Hynde. She certainly liked Martha Reeves & Vandellas, I counted three song of theirs between the two shows.
  24. Should be a good programme on Friday about Dusty looking forward to it. I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself, Son Of A Preacher Man, I Only Wanna Be With You and You Don't Have To Say You Love Me among my favourites of her many 60's hits.
  25. Yes, sad news of the passing of Tony Sheridan :( RIP
