  1. It was a baron period for both Dusty & LuLu in terms of hits. Neither would reach the Uk top 40 until 1987 and 1986 respectively. I think the song that Dusty sang was a cover version - A Love Like Yours? I think it was Martha Reeves who had the original not sure. Pet Shop Boys also worked with another act in the early 90's, I dont know if anyone remembers Cicero, he was a bit of a one hit wonder.
  2. My Love Is Your Love is my personal fave, however Step By Step is also a good song (written by Annie Lennox) surprised its at the bottom of this list!
  3. The RnB one last night was good, informative about the roots of RnB and Soul music. More relevant for the youngsters if any were watching with them all being in to hip hop RnB music today. I will probably check out the Bill Withers album they mentioned. I'm already familiar with some of his stuff like Use Me, Lovely Day, Lean On Me etc.
  4. Is anyone watching the programmes discussing albums from the 70's on BBC4, 9pm with Danny Baker. It was Rock last night, pop tonight and Soul and Thurs. night with a documentary on Fri. Last night they had Jeremy Clarkson on discussing rock music in the 70's :o

Every Number One between 1952 and 1963 :P
  6. I Know the answer to that one, but I'll see if anyone can get it. Love Is Like Oxygen was one of their own composition, by the late seventies they were doing all their own stuff. Which is when they seemed to enjoy more success across the pond.
  7. Go Your Own Way was the best singlre from Rumours IMO, probably done so well in downloads because of the Lissie cover version
  8. Yellow Dog was Kenny Young's band, he also formed Foxx (Only You Can , S S Ingle Bed etc) and he wrote Under The Boardwalk for the Drifters. I Watched 70's Gold A compilation of performances from Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC4 last night. Lots of good and some rare bands on their performing. David Bowie, Elton John, Argent, Patti Smith, Vinegar Joe etc
  9. There are lots of good acts making there chart debut in the next couple of months like Blondie, Kate Bush and Billy Joel to name a few, so Things will improve. The Baby's lead singer John Waite had a hit in 1984 with the excellent Missing You.

Their biggest hit It Must've Been Love sold 430,000 in the 90's. Dont have any download sales for it though I'm afraid
  12. Funny enough I found it by accident too. I think I was looking for the Weather report or something at the time  . I remember hearing TPau China In Your Hand and Always On My Mind by the Pet Shop Boys (which was the very first single I bought :D ). Then in the new year I started listening to the chart every week and writing down the top 40. :)
  13. The very first chart I Listened to was the Year End chart for 1987 on Radio 1

Why did they miss out 2003? One of the best Xmas battles for no.1 IMO Gary Jules vs The Darkness. The Darkness led all week and thought they had it in the bag then Gary Jules pipped them to the post with Saturday sales. I remember being shocked on the Sunday chart show that they had made no.1!

  16. Elton John is sopposed to be hosting one edition before the end of the year.. should be interesting if they show it!
  17. Well I'm sure it goes without saying your talking about the Terry Wogan version, and not the terrible original.. ;)
  18. Shouldnt Take A Chance On Me by Abba and These Are The Days Of Our Lives by Queen be included on the list?. The former was included Erasure's Abba Esque EP (no.1, 1992) and the latter on was by Queen & Lisa Stansfield and was included on the Five Live EP (no.1, 1993) Or do EP's not count..
  19. At a guess, Shakin Stevens, maybe?

  21. Roxy Music hits - More Than This, Pyjamarama, avalon. Can't think of any others, other than the three already mentioned.
  22. MGMT Kids - 360,000
  23. I think the video to TPOL has a Xmas theme IIRC.
  24. Excellent TOTP this week, lots of my fave songs, Modern World, Heroes, We are The Champs, etc. Kenny Everett is hosting next week. Song with space theme in its title. The excellent Drops of Jupiter by Train. Not sure weather you could include Telstar by Tornadoes it was sopposed to have a sci fi feel to it.
  25. You are correct Popchartfreak. Oh Carolina is still his best imo
