1997 - my charts of the year
I like the songs from Verve Texas and Sundays. The Seahorses had to be one of the stand out bands of 1997 for me. Pity they only recorded one album.

My Fave Thin Lizzy song has to be the one that was on TOTP this week Dancing In The Moonlight, with its infamous line "I always get chocolate stains on my pants". Boys Are Back In Town is undoubtely a rock classic but Ive heard it so much Ive got bored of it.

This Time I Know Its Fo Real is a good Donna Summer song, unpopular with some as it was written and produced by Stock Aitken & Waterman. Restored her back to the US top 20 for the first time in about 10-15 years if I remember rightly

Highest Weekly Sales for Each Position
Xmas chart for 1998 would possibly have some record breaking sales in the top 10? The top 2, Spice Girls & Chef had huge sales.

She is the only Female Act in UK Chart history to have 3 million selling singles. Both The Spice Girls and Celine Dion are both only on 2.

Rod Stewart also had a no.1 with You Wear It Well. I love the Small Faces my fave band of the 60's along with the Beatles. Never too keen on Rod and the Faces stuff, always fustrates me when people get confused and think that Rod was a member of the Small Faces. Musically they sound very different imo.

Interesting to note that there were three different versions of Sunny in the UK top 40 in the same week in October 1966, the original and versions by Cher and Georgie Fame. Hebb wrote it in tribute to his brother who was killed

Which period of chart history are you fascinated by?
I got into the charts 1988, although growing up as a chart fan in 90s was great. We had the longest runner at no.1 with Bryan Adams in 1991 and then the all time biggest seller with Elton John in 1997. Also the transition from climbing up the charts to debuting at peak position evolved in the 90's, which was interesting to follow.

Andy was also in a band with Blue Weaver in the early 70s and had a hit with Natural Sinner as Fairweather.

The Andy Fairweatherlow single didnt even make the charts! Just goes to show totp didnt always help propel singles to the top of the charts even in its hey day. Interesting to note, the first act on yesterday - The Brothers shot into the charts after winning tv talent show Opportunity Knocks.
