There is a documentary on BBC4 this Friday at 9pm. its all about the Brits and how they conquered America. I'm pretty sure there will be alot about The Beatles in it.

Originally, Let It Be was going to be released under the name Plastic Ono Band, however Lennon decided to release instant karma instead. Instant Karma was no.6 in the charts the week Let It Be entered at no.2 - held off no.1 by Lee Marvin Wanderin Star of all things!
  4. Chiffons weren't produced by Phil Spector, they were produced by The Tokens (Lion Sleeps Tonight) who 'discovered' them. I Will Always Love You I hate that song - in any version :puke2:
  5. I have been following the charts since the 603rd number one.
  6. A cover version that is very rarely mentioned or known is Delilah by Tom Jones which was originally recorded by PJ Proby
  7. My Sweet Lord by George Harrison is a curious one. George wrote the song but was found to have accidentally plaigarised the Chiffons one fine day, however as a nod to George Harrison The Chiffons later recorded their own version. Though what is less known is that George Harrison gave My Sweet Lord to his friend Billy Preston who recorded it first and released it as a single (unsuccesfully) before George did.
  8. I have Stevie Wonders Best Of , however I Wish is not included on it! The story goes that Stevie refused to let Motown edit Isnt She Lovely down from its 6.5 minute album version for single release, so Mr Parton did hid own version for single release. Aswell as Mr Parton Numerous other artists have dipped into Songs In The Key Of Life over the years for hits of their own, Coolio borrowed part of Pasttime Paradise for his no.1 hit Gangstas Paradise and George Michael & Mary J Blige had a hit with As.
  9. The title of her most infamous song, seems rather inappropriate seeing as shes has just died. RIP
  10. The amazing thing about 1977,was that Dont Give Up On Us & Dont Cry For Me Argentina both finished as the top 2 selling singles of the year. January is always tradionally the lowest time of the year for record sales, so '77 broke the mold. Liverpool Express featured Bill Kinsley who had indeed previously been in the Merseys and The Merseybeats Trivia: Wild Side Of Life (originally Tommy Quickly) by Status Quo was produced by Roger Glover of Deep Purple

When it came out,I bought her duet with Aaron Neville Dont Know Much. Which remains her biggest hit in the UK.
  12. I watched a tv show on the bbc last year I think, which told that it was apparently a story concocted by their manager Malcolm McLaren.
  13. No More I Love Yous at 215,000 would have just missed the list
  14. Michael Jackson and paul Mcartney Say Say Say is an interesting one, it looks as if its going to peak at #10 then for no apparent reason jumps into the top 3. 25-10-13-14-3-2-2-3-12-18-25-25-29-33-50 John Lennon's Starting Over did an about turn however this was explained by his untimely death. 30-20-13-8-10-21-1-2-2-5-5-15-22-56-66
  15. Shoop Shoop song is a curious one the actusl figure should be 515,000. These shows round figures, sometimes up sometimes down. the actual figure for Stay is 484,455 so if it were rounded to the nearest 10,000 the correct figure is 480,000.

  24. This was originally shown in Oct 2008. Some of the figures seem too high especially for Take That, 90's sales for the some of their singles were as follows- Babe 412,172 Pray 333,695 Could It Be Magic 255,455
