What was the name of the British Duo who had several US hits in the mid-late 60's though never charted over here at all?. I can't remember their name and its annoying me now lol!
  4. Some existing possible contenders for lowest selling no.1 album could be Wu Tang Clan Wu Tang forever from 1997, only sold 26,000 at no.1 spent 10 weeks on the chart and sold fewer than 90,000 as it was not in the top 125 artist albums of the year. Also Carter USM love album from 1992, only sold 90,000

Interesting how Night Fever is listed above How deep is your love. On the All Time 100 in 2002, HDIYL was mentioned as the Bee Gees biggest seller at 800,000. Also Amazing Grace sales were bumped up considerably to 960,000 for the same list. Interesting stuff as I have never seen alot of these sales figures quoted anywhere else, so it is good to get some extra sales info.

Thanks for posting! I look forward to seeing the rest of the chart. Do you know how they compiled this chart Dave. Was it using BMRB data or is it using Record Company sales figures. Also were the sales you have listed also given in the magazine or are they ones you have included yourself :)
  7. into the top 100 :yahoo:
  8. Thanks. the 1973 list makes more sense to me than this radio 2 countdown. Though when all said and done its all just guess work as their is no definitive answer to the 60's best selling singles.
  9. Have you got the top 100 compiled in 1973, Dave ? :)
  10. It wasnt on the original 2002 all time list.
  11. MW wont be counting White Christmas in its tally.
  12. Shut Up & Dance Raving I'm Raving is missing on the list - chart run- {2}-15->2 135 points :)
  13. A chart of no.1s :D Bryan Adams must be favourite for no.1 on that one.
  14. how did you compile the list dannyboy, did you use excel or do it with a calculator?

If people like urban than thats okay, though I do think thiere is a bit much urban clogging up the charts recently. The charts are best when there is variety-a bit of pop, dance, indie aswell as urban for people who like those other genres.
  16. 29/06/2002 Oasis Stop Crying Your Heart Out {2}-4-13-23-28-39-48-56-62-75-71R(376)->11 It only spent one week at no.2 (during Elvis's second week at the top)
  17. Thriller has a long way to go to reach a million, it had sold about 200,000 to the end of 2008 and 120,000 in 2009, whicj makes its sales over 320,000.
  18. On the week of Jackos death Billie Jean had sold 752,766, and it sold a total 120,000 downloads during the whole of 2009, minus some overlapping sales I'd says its probably sold over 850,000 by now.
  19. it did. 24 weeks on the chart, 23 of which in the top 10 :P
  20. Frank Chacksfield them from limelight bound to be no.1, 8 weeks at number 2 in 1953 :o Other big stayers at no.2 Pat Boone love letters in the sand 7 weeks All 4 One I swear 7 weeks Right Said Frec I'm Too sexy 6 weeks

I would define a classic as a song that will still be getting good amounts of airplay on mostly all radio stations in 20 years from now, so reality pop, boybands, rap, and techno can automatically be ruled out straight away.
  22. Oh no! I bet the Baha Men are gonna be in the top 10 aswell :o
  23. Rule The World by Take That will surely be inside the top 10, maybe even no.1!
  24. Sony BMG does especially with X Factor winners!
  25. I think Acker Bilk Stranger On The Shore has got be a favourite for the no.1, or Kings Of Leon Use Somebody maybecould be high aswell. :) Unfortunatley I think Black Lace and Agadoo is going to chart very high too -_-
